Thanks very much to each and every one of you that replied. It's a crappy situation that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. I think I'll figure out a way to get my funds together and have a rebuild done. I'm amazed that Nissan didn't get buried by this problem. I realize they stand to lose a lot of money, but the right thing for them would have been to fix the problem no matter what.....but that's in my world, obviously not the real world. Oh well, adapt and overcome, right?

Hi! I have a question...maybe a bit stupid, as I think I know the answer, but I figured I'd try. A few years ago, my wife and I bought a 2006 SE Off-Road with 75k mi. on it. We bought it through a private used car dealer. It was originally a lease turned in at the end and this dealer got it at auction. The car fax was clean. I got home and started going on the forums, where I quickly learned of the Trans cooler issue. I gotta say, had I known, I'd have probably not purchased it...my bad for not knowing. Anyway, I called every Nissan place I could find including corporate and was told my model was not subject to the TSB. Looking at my ride, it had the external cooler...all seemed well. Fast forward to about a week ago....I had a leak. It was the oil cooler seal. My buddy who has mechanic experience helped me with it and we found that we had another problem...shuddering as you accelerate after almost coming to a stop. I also had oil on the cooler reservoir, what looked like trans fluid in the radiator etc. We got a new radiator, and also drained the Trans fluid. We noted no metallic chunks-just a little sludge, but it appears as though what happened to all the Pathys that ruined their trains also happened here....coolant in the Trans. We did a flush and fill hoping that we caught it in time. Funny thing is although this had the external cooler, the Trans line was still routed through the external, to the radiator to the transmission...no bypass. Anyway, we got everything back together and fluids filled. This past Saturday, I'm within 2 miles of my home and the transmission crapped the bed (only 90 miles after we did the work). It stopped shifting, wouldn't go above 20 mph, etc. I was able to stop and cool it down and limp it home, but it took several attempts. So here is my question (sorry for the long backstory). Since I'm not the original owner, etc do I have a snowballs chance in hell of getting this covered, or am I S.O.L.? Is there anyone at Nissan I can plead to? From what I've seen, anyone that might have OEM transmissions want $5500 and rebuilds/salvaged are around $2100 & up. Based on what i could tell however, the setup was no different than the one that caused the original major TSB. A new car for me is not an feasible option at this time, and I don't have the 2k plus immediately available to rebuild. So basically, I'm trying to explore every option possible that might work. Also, one other thing. I don't believe it's the trans killer issue as my transmission is not strawberry milk. Instead, oil has decided that it wanted to become one with my antifreeze and backed into the reservoir. I'm thinking it's just the oil cooler gasket. Any speculations?

So here is exactly what I'm talking about. It looks like I have a problem with my oil cooler. Hopefully it's more minor than the one in the previous recall - where oil was leaking into the transmissions and destroying them because I was told by Nissan that my vehicle isn't subject to that particular recall. I'm hoping it is just a seal problem Anyway, my oil cooler is the round looking one. When I look this up on Nissan parts sites, they show a part number of 21305. When I've gone to such sites as Rock Auto, and punch in the number, the coolers that pop up are the plate/fin (radiator looking) coolers. I have also found that this particular cooler also goes by the following alias part numbers: 21305Y, 21305-EA210, 21305-EA21A, 21606-EA51A, and 21606-EA510. For the bulk of those there are no images on the sites I've searched. I guess I'll have to give a dealership a call.

Hey everybody. Sorry if this is a duplicate. I am looking for a complete list of part numbers for my 2006 Pathfinder SE Off-Road (R51) I have a major repair coming up (as soon as I get the parts) and want to try and streamline my searching. I'm not proficient with this and am getting confused between lookup codes, aftermarket numbers, individual vendor part numbers, OEM, etc. I understand the terminology. What I need i a resource (Or where to search NIssan as their sites have been futile) where I can find the original part number(s) assigned by Nissan. That way, I can streamline my searching by plugging it into Amazon, E-bay, auto part websites, etc. and find what I need. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!!

I have found that the head space of my 2006 pathfinder seems lower than those of other SUV's (i.e. Tahoe, etc.). I find that when getting into the vehicle I have to really bend my neck down to get in. I'm of average height 6 feet. but even when sitting in the driver seat, it seems as though there is not much clearance between the top of my head and the ceiling of the interior. Is there a way to lower the seat (it is original that came with the vehicle), or is it possible to purchase one that can be adjusted to sit somewhat lower? If so, any suggestions?

Hi all, I need some clarification here (advance apologies if I sound stupid)... I have a 2006 Pathfinder SE Off Road and just turned 107,000 miles on the odometer. When idling (i.e. warming up in the winter) should the Pathfinder blow the warm air when the engine is warm? It will warm up, but not blow warm air until you are moving or increase the rpm while idling. If I get the warm air flowing and then put it on re-circulate, it's ok. I plan to check out the heating system but was not sure if this is common or not (I've seen this happen with other makes/models like Chevy Tahoe). When I first bought it, I called Nissan USA regarding the recall and was told that my particular vehicle was not affected. Any info is greatly appreciated!
