The white pathfinder I have in the shop right now is a '91 and as far as body, frame and interior go, it is in great shape. I'm only pulling the motor, tranny and t-case because the timing belt broke and the t-case is leaking. I didn't know the previous owner or the running history of the pathfinder, but she did say the rest of the running gear seemed fine when the timing belt broke.
I did know the owner of the red '93 that I now also own, and other than the frame rusting out, he never had any problems with it. He kept up on the maintenance including water pump, timing belt, etc.
So, instead of just doing the timing belt on the '91 and hoping everything else was good, I figured I'd pull the motor, tranny and t-case out and replace them with what I know are good donors out of the '93. At the same time I plan on doing all the seals, exhaust studs, clutch, and maybe lower gears for the t-case if it fits in the budget, which is pretty much nil.
Right now, I'm having a little trouble getting them out in one piece without taking the whole front section of the body out, including lights, vertical and horizontal rad supports, etc. It's the top support that seems to be the hold up, as its spot welded to the rest.
And yes, Precise1, that is a radial drill in the background. I'm also a machinist and I own a small machine shop that specializes more in industrial repairs than production.
