  1. Yup it was the head unit. I replaced it with a JVC xr810 and alpine type s speakers much better now. The head unit brackets were balls to remove I had to hit them with pb blaster to move them with out stripping them. The JVC double din fits perfect no need for installation kit to fill gaps. Thanx for the help guys.
  2. I spent a month trying to narrow down the code. I didn't want to bring it in because I have heard about how expensive the diagnostics are when dealing with th vcv bypass valve. It ended up being the actual valve itself. It is a small white piece of plastic with 4 ports just to the left of the spare tire it sits on a small bracket. It costs an arm and a leg but much better than the k the dealership will charge. I know there is a way to test it with a 12 vt source and a pressure sensor but I don't remember how I did it. I think I followed the tsb.
  3. I have been having trouble with the audio in my '02. It is the base system non-bose. The drivers side speakers only work 5% of the time. If I adjust the fader to full driver's side only the A-pillar tweeter responds (barely). I pulled the head out checked the harness and grounds to the doors and checked the connections at both door speakers all are in great shape. I have heard that the amp is in the rear driver's cargo area for non bose systems but after pulling the panel I found nothing. I figure it has to be a loose connection somewhere and wanted to check the amp, but can't find the damn thing. Also could it be the head unit itself causing intermittent signal failure. I don't have an extra to test it out.
