  1. Drove up to the Smokey Mountains this weekend for an offroading trip with my old lady. Well one thing led to another and boy am I glad those rear seats fold down!! :itsallgood:

Got me thinking, anybody else had a time where you needed the seats laid down for a little bit??

Your so cool dude bro, .... :tired:

  2. :( got a quote on the timing belt because thats what I was thinking it was, $780 Canadian... Im a college student, why did it come to this i miss driving the old girl. I wish i knew more about vehicles so I could replace it myself, the parts are only 150.
  3. Hey guys i started my pathy about a month ago and it was probably -40 and it started right up, but not 5 seconds later i heard a snap/clunk and it instantly died. Now it wont start i can hear the stater go but there is almost a grinding weird sound. I have an audio clip but dont think i can post it but i can email it if anyone is willing to help. Let me know what you think, i miss driving the big girl. 93 275k auto XE 4x4.

  4. if there is any kind of leak on the engine side of the air flow sensor, your vehicle is going to run like absolute @!*%, because it's unmetered air. After the silicone dries on your intake pipe, she should be good as new!

yah i think i got the just of it, its running 20x better now. I think i need to replace that hose either way though because its really old and im sure will crack more. Im having trouble finding anything for it though :S ebay has stuff but theres no way im paying $60 + S&H for a 10" aluminum tube :S.

  5. Alrighty guys I cleaned the MAF, and the same problem is happening. However i discovered something, what i thought was a bad/blown ball joint sound turned out to be my intake making a sound like if you were to pull a large dent out of a car. This happens when i give her lots of gas once and a while, it was happening when i was manually revving it up with my finger. I was feeling my cold air intake and it would suck like normal than make the sound and push it out the intake kind of like a back fire. Help? Is it my intake hose still? because it had a good crack that i just now loaded with silicone and is drying, i haven't drove it since i siliconed the hose. Hopefully that fixes it?? anyone have any other ideas??

  6. Hey folks i keep having this problem latley, i will be driving and when i come to a full stop at a light or sign it stalls out. I can restart it and it will stall unless i keep the pedal down a bit then quickly put my foot on the break and shift it to drive. Its a 93 XE 267000km. Im absolutly stumped, changed gas filter and ran some injector cleaner through the engine and still have the same thing. help! p.s. Auto 4x4

  7. Hey folks worked for a few hours on my 93 pathy, Removed pinstripes, side bumpers, side steps, old mud flaps, added new mud flaps, installed cold air intake. Ill let the pics speak i think its a world of difference. Thanks to everyone helping me on the cold air intake, it made the old beast run a heck of a lot better and sounds beefy.

  8. Thanks for all the replys folks, After replacing the stock air filter for a cold air i realized i was flooding the engine with water in the air intake. The way the stock air is plumbed made it so the water could splash up and in which is what happened. The filter was soaked, I think the next upgrade is a safari snorkel for me anyways ^^.

  9. A splash O watter will make it run rough and sputter. the best thing you can do, If you only got a splash (no slaping or pinging sounds), Is drive it and keep the rpms above 3k rpm and it will clean out (literally).(don't rev it exessively, just keep the rpms up and be easy enough on the pedal to get it moving @ the rate thats it)

Now if it had died you I would reccomend pulling the plugs and turn it over to pump the water out.

If there was sounds of slaping or pining something mechanical happened and It should be shut off and towed.

Sounds like you will be ok, Your pathy might even be running better before. It takes a surprising amount to killl a pathy and even more to do damage. Take it slow arround water and you should be fine. I've sucked some up several times and everytime it clears up and has some extra Kick for about 10-15 min after its cleared up.

Ok wicked, just really wanted to make sure. Is there anything i can do to prevent it from dieing after a deeper puddle? Besides maybe a lift?

  10. Hey there folks, so we have got just over 100mm (4") of rain and i decided there would be lots of fun on gravel roads. I wasn't wrong, so i was traveling along and there were a couple puddles and the first two were fine and i got right through. The third one was probably 8-9' long and at most 1 1/2' deep, so i figured i would be alright. So i was going about 30-40 which i thought might be too fast but wasn't sure because im a newb but i went through anyways. I got all the way through and just out of the water it started sputtering and eventually stalled out. I tried restarting it and tons of white smoke or probably steam was coming from the back and under the hood. After the second turn over she kept going sputtering down around 250 RPM every few seconds and then i gave her some gas and she started running smoother. I was scared because there was a longer puddle ahead and probably deeper so i turned around and came back through and had the same problem, only this time when i got back on the road i tried getting up to 60km/h and she would spit and sputter a bit. Now that im home she is running nice.

    My question is:

Was i just newbish and going to fast?

    Is there likley something wrong?

Or is that much water to much for a stock pathy?

    Help lol

  11. Hey folks been pondering for a bit here, wondering if going cold air is a good idea when off roading? what happens if I get the filter wet. Or will I get it wet? If it will how do i prevent it? Sorry for the noobish questions i am just getting in to the whole off road thing.

  12. I'm DEFINITELY going to undercoat when I'm done...

errr... are you talking about the sidestep bars, like the rails you have on your truck?

rocker panels are part of the actual body, under the door seals that curves around down to the floor pan, to remove them requires a lot of cutting... not to have rockers leaves bare metal body WIDE OPEN to rust from the inside. As well, rockers provide structural strength and rigidity. You want your rockers lol.

side step bars are bolted on under the rockers (really easy to remove) and just end up getting beat up on the trails, they do come in handy for protecting your rocker panels though :)

an alternative to side step bars, are rock sliders, which kinda look like side step bars but usually don't stick out far enough to really be a great step, are usually welded to the frame and they're a whole lot beefier

hope that helped clear things up =)

Haha oh my bad I'm still a newb :P , yah I meant rocker panels (the step things). Okay so I'm going to rip them off than. Thanks again!

  13. my question is, to rocker or not to rocker? I have seen tons of pathys without and i think they look great and look like the have a lift without one. But people keep telling me to leave them on because it keeps the mud away. I want to take them off maybe replace them with some sick wide mudflaps in the front and back, suggestions? also is it hard to take those off?
