What part of North Texas are you in? That first pic looked a lot like the Red River below lake Texoma. Welcome to the forum.

Ouray's about 1 1/2 hours away. There's some great country out here and we're hoping to get out with the camera's this summer and get some good nature photos so it should be a good excuse to find some trails around here. I look forward to sharing some good adventures, and using your guys knowledge to fix up the beast.
If you go down to Ouray, you should do the Alpine Loop that goes from Silverton over to Lake City and back. It takes you over Engineer Pass and Cinnamon Pass and can be done in a stock SUV. Along with some of the most beautiful scenery in Colorado, you will see a lot of the old mines and mining towns. It takes a full day to run it if you stop and enjoy the view periodically. You may also want to wait until late June or even July to go. We went up there late May/early June last year and a majority of the trails were still closed due to snow. You can contact the Foresty Service office in Ouray or Silverton and they can tell you the status of the trails in the area. Also get a good trail book. It will help you out alot. Good luck.

Welcome.
How far is Grand Junction from Ouray? There is some very good wheeling around there and beautiful scenery too. I'd love to live up in that part of the country. We are looking forward to seeing some pics of your future outings.

weathertech makes great stuff. if you call them and describe your needs, they should be able to help you out. Or, you can make something. Use like shower pan liner from home depot (sells for about $5 per 1x5 foot section, linear). That willkeep water and sand out. Just need to do something about a side wall to keep it on the liner!
+1 on Weathertech. They are durable and fit nicely.

I've played both and prefer the PS3. I got a PS Slim last year and love it. I play Warhawk mostly and I'm going to get Black Ops soon.

Salvage title could be a thieft recovery, flood car, formerly abandoned, etc. Not always a total from a wreck. The resale value lacks horribly on a salvage cert. But can be partially gained once a "r" title (reconstructed) is acquired out of the salvage cert. Salvage cert aint streetable/plateable/inspectable here though. Going by PA specs here...
On a side note, depends on the car if I would bother tryin to make it street worthy again.
Very true. There could be many reasons for being put on a salvage title.
Pros: I've seen where people have picked up a vehicle on a salvage title, even being wrecked, for pennies on the dollar and with some know how or connections, put it back to like new condition and still be way under what it would cost to buy it otherwise. You can build it and put it back the way you want.
Cons: If you are not mechanically inclined or know someone who is, then it could turn into a nightmare. Depending on the state(s) involved it can be a difficult process to get a clear title. Resale value will always suffer. I know I would not buy something that had previously been on a salvage title unless I knew who fixed it and I trusted them.

I have to admit I watch it too.

^So that is where they are hiding!!
Both of these are very true but I have seen a ginormous R51 on 38s or something towing a huge boat around here so some support must be out there...
I'll go ahead and say that is has a different appeal.
Still, I just told my wife last night that I'm going to be looking for a salvage title unit I can pick up cheap and modify...

Cool, let us know what you find. I'm ready to see a hardcore R51. The front end is the same as an Xterra and I know there are solid axle kits sold for it, so that's not an issue. The rear should be relatively easy to convert to solid axle. There was a guy on the other forum that was going to put the rear end from a Frontier, but I have not seen anything about that lately. Here is one more pic that I for got to include. This is Wizard, from Hawaii, and he has a 7" coil over lift:

Why are there so few threads started in the 2005+ forum? I am looking to upgrade my R50 and was shocked to see very little talk on the boards about upgrades, likes, dislikes, projects, FAQ's, etc.
-Kevin
Yeah, there is not that much R51 related stuff on this site, but people are into modding them. It's going to take a little more time for people to start thrashing them like the WDs and R50s. It's hard to take a $30K+ Pathy that's still under warranty and beat the hell out of it. Although there have been a few people that have started. Here are a few of my favs:
If you really want to see what people are saying about R51s, then check out this site: My link
It is totally opposite from this site. There is a little WD and R50 action, but the R51 section is very active.

Little off the topic but anyone follow the ordeal with the alleged JFK ambulance?
I heard something about it being put up for auction and someone came forward and said he knows the original was destroyed. Was anything ever determined about it's authenticity?

Glad our quarterbacks last name isn't Kennedy
And beware of anyone offering to take you for a ride thru downtown in a convertable limo.

So if we can not afford tickets to the game, will there be a Super Bowl party at Richard's house for us to crash?
I know my broke ass will be here at the house watching the game on TV, so the more, the merrier.

Jerryworld is open and they want your cash. They were talking about ticket prices on the local news today. $300 will get you standing room only in the plaza just outside the stadium. Nosebleed seats are going for $1800. Fieldside suites are also available for $300,000 to $400,000.
On a different note, those of you who are coming will be glad to know that we have been asked to be nice to the visitors and on our best behavior. I guess that had something to do with Dallas recently being voted the most rudest city in the America. So bring lots of money and have fun.

What's really cool is the motor in the Ford GT super car is essentially the same motor as in a Lightening.
Yeah, the GT is a bad dude. There was one on Battle of the Supercars a while back that was modded by Hennessey. They added a twin turbo setup to the supercharged 5.4 and it made around 1000hp. I would love to get my hands on one of those.

hell the pathy is now our ONLY ride. the honda is gone now.
What happened? Did you sell it or wreck it?
-
The Pathy is my wife's ride. My DD is a '99 Ford F150 Lightning. Perfomance of a sportscar and still able to tow and haul stuff. Mods include a +4 lb lower pulley, some intake work, flowmaster muffler with stainless steel tips, Predator tune, and traction bars. It puts down a little over 400hp and 550ft lbs of torque to the ground, which makes for a fun and smokey ride.
No garage queen here. One of our favorite places to camp requires going across a small water crossing.

Basically I want to go this weekend...sat i'm going to cut the slider off the passenger side and reweld...replace compression rod bushings and hopefully make a day run on sunday...
I know theres a trail run section but no1 ever responds...i'd like to get at least one truck to go with me
I'd go if it was a little closer. I know what you mean, I've been having a hard time getting my friends to go on a day run to some places around here. Being 100+ degrees outside does not help my cause. Good luck.

Nice pics. What part of Colorado is that? It looks like our pics, without all the snow, of the San Juan Mtns around Ouray that we took in June. I can't wait to get back up there.
-
Its not really a ring at all, just the design of the wheel. I never thought of it as a beadlock style. I am all about the beauty though.
The tires have been great, quieter than anything I've had before.
I like the wheels, they look good. I bet they really look cool around 25mph.
I almost got Destination AT's for our street tires last week because I heard the were quiet and handled well on the street, but I got a smokin' deal on some Toyo Open Country AT's. So far, I like them. Definitely quieter than the Bridgestone Revo's that we use off-road.

Yea man no joke...safety first!
(but beer does tend to make even the safest, retarded.)
In their defense, it was a mild section of the trail and they had a rack to hold on to, but yeah, I would rather ride inside the truck.

Last Friday we were heading up Yankee Boy Basin near Ouray, CO and passed a red WD21 that was coming down. There were a couple guys riding on the roof. Was it anybody on this forum?
-
What do you guys think? Will you be able to make it? I'm heading out tomorrow and will get there Saturday afternoon. I'm taking my laptop, so I can check messages.
-
Coolio. Haven't been on that forum in a little while. Wonder when the first Solid front will be.
Another member on here told me the other day that he saw a couple Xterras with solid fronts last year on a trail run. Being the same front end, I don't think it will be too much longer, especially if somebody puts out a kit. I advised the guy to cruise some Xterra forums.

I found this on another forum the other day. I'm happy to see somebody taking on this project. Check it out: My link

I thought that looked familiar. I grew up in Bonham and some of my family still lives there. I did not know there was an off-road park up there. Is it on the OK side just across the 78 bridge? We used to take motorcycles and ATVs out there years ago. Let me know the next time you go and I'll try to get out there too.
