  1. So after a few months of my truck sitting in my back yard while I've been working in D.C., it's finally time to get this thing goin again.

I got her stuck real bad before I left, and when I finally got pulled out it ran fine. Then a few days later, I went to put it in Park and had to slam it into place. After that, I tried putting it in gear but when I hit the gas it was like revving it in neutral...till it would randomly catch and I'd jump a few feet. Happens in D, 1, 2, and R. Then it sorta drove today, and once again reverted back to the original problem.

Thoughts? I'm hoping maybe it's just the linkage... when it did actually drive today it was stuck in 4w.

Nice to be back on the forums!

  2. It is underpowered as it is then add towing to the mix and it is horrible, as well as the prior mentioned gas milage, which gets VERY BAD as you tow!

that's why you drop a chevy 350 in there, no more power problems then! although if you're concerned about getting good gas mileage.... have a friend tow it for you.

p.s. i'm still amazed that i saw that pathy with the 350 in it. ol definitly weird, definitly awesome

  3. yeah so i'm driving down the road, not beating on my pathy or anything at all, and i start hearing this shuddering/grinding noise when i'm in 2nd gear. go to put it in park, and i have trouble getting it into park. come out of the store, start her up and put in reverse, and it revs like i'm in neutral. then it jumps in and out gear, sending me into the car behind me. put it in drive, same thing happens. then it stops going into gear at all, and i had to push it.

random guess on my part.... clutches in the tranny? or something else? any ideas would be awesome, thanks guys

  4. so if i was to pick up the AC 3" body lift, exactly what other work would i need to do to drive it? something about the shifter?

there's some good info i found on another thread here but's more along the lines of installation instructions -alcohol-

  5. i've noticed that happen on the highway a bunch of times. usually it turns itself off, other times while i have cruise control on goin up a big hill it kicks into power mode and doesn't go out of it. just flip the switch on and off and it'll go away

  6. so yeah, after being stuck in the mud for 3 days my pathy made the two hour trip down to my school absolutely fine. days later, i'm driving and smell somethin not good. then i start noticing vibrations. i was thinking the catalytic converter because the heat shield looks busted to hell and broken, and a local mechanic said he wanted to smoke test the exhaust for the $160 i don't have.

    any ideas besides the cat?

  7. hahah i love how like 80% of replies had the beers, awesome! latest update for my pathy.... was goin down this nice easy clean path under some power lines and suddenly BAM, tires are spinnin. 4wL does nothin, and ended up so dug in the tires weren't touchin and the undercarriage was resting on mud (bout 4 feet down is as far as i shoveled lol). sooooo note to self, no more driving on power lines!

although leaving your truck stuck in the mud for three days isn't really that big of a deal, right? lol

  8. got about 165000 on my 95 SE, thing runs great. although after reading the post about putting a hand into a frame and the proposed result of plugging the hole with a severed hand... i think i'm gonna keep a closer eye on my frame lol. only thing wrong with it is the driver's side heated seat isn't working. not too shabby, eh?

  9. so about me.... 21 yr old college guy that goes off roading when one of the few people i know that has an offroad vehicle goes. never owned anything but chevy's, and i was really skeptical about buying a japanese vehicle. however it's definitly gone above and beyond my expectations and it was well worth the cash.

as far as mechanical skills, i know basic stuff. i have a talent for ripping things apart, breaking them, and then fixing them. i've already learned a bunch just reading posts on this site and i'm looking forward to learning more!

i wish connecticut, rhode island, and massachusetts had better places to go offroading. if anyone knows good places to go, let me know cuz i only know of a few.

  10. so i do some decent offroading, and this happens. never had a problem before. i pull into a mobil station to check the pressure in my tires after driving for about 5 minutes, and my truck starts smoking. upper radiator hose burst. yeah. so note this all of my fellows offroaders, do NOT leave the trails or EVER check your tire pressure.

on a serious note, i replaced the house and my temp gauge is still spiking. could the radiator have blown that quick with a bad hose?

  11. anyone know if it's the ABS under there on a 95 SE? looks just like what i've got but i thought it was somethin to do with the heated seats? (obviously not on WRL's cuz there's no equipment next to it just curious cuz i'm still tryin to my damn driver's side seat to start heatin up. it's gettin cold here in CT!)
