My pathy was stolen from a locked underground parking lot at 1pm.
Cool thing is, I told a bunch of people and my dad spotted the crackheads driving it, he called me, I then called the police, hopped in the girlfriends car and went to the last seen location....I came just in time to see the officer questioning the driver and even told him "hey thats my truck officer.
Was very nice to watch the thieves get hauled away in chains
Pathy took some paint damage on passenger door, door lock was mangled and they hotwired my ignition.
Other than than having all my tools and personal gear scattered everywhere, all was ok
Insurance covered it all and I even paid zero deductable
Worked out pretty well I would say

I just did mine on the weekend took me like 2 hours I am by no means an expert and found this job very easy to do, just follow the steps here which I found on this forum;

I got the coils from the junkyard for 15$ each (CDN)
The JGC coils added about 2" of lift, I also have a 91 with spare tire carrier and a sub box with tools in the back I also carry and 16 foot aluminum canoe up to remote lakes all the time so I needed some stiffer springs
I also replaced the rear shocks. The stock ones compressed by hand very easily, unevenly and made sickly squishy sounds, I am sure they did nothing at all

Yes they for sure need to go.
Angle grinder made quick work of them
Only small issue I had was with the rubber spacing thingies (unsure of the name) that go on each end of the shock, the passenger side bracket is thicker than the centerlink ubolt bracket, so to get the nut started on that side of the shock I had to compress the rubber parts with a pair of vice grips so I could get the nut started.
I am putting some JGC springs I obtained and new shocks this weekend to lift the rear

Just installed the Pro Comp Steering Stabilizer that came as a bonus with 4 Pro Comp 3000 shocks
The mounting kit came with it, installs just like the Rancho SS, had to grind down the centerlink tabs, in fact I think the mounting brackets are identical to a Rancho kit, just a different shock.
I may post some pics later after I do the JGC coil lift with the new shocks
What a difference in the handling! Especially at highway speeds when the wind is gusting and passing by big rigs, works great on the rough roads too!

Here is my beloved Pathy's story;
Paid $3500 (CDN) for a 1991 SE auto pathfinder that was only missing some good rubber and an antennae.
Repaired some rust holes under rear seat.
Painted some rocker guard along the bottom foot or so of the body to keep the rust at bay
Needed a transfer case shortly after I bought it, pulled one from the junkyard.
Now running some 31X10.5" Wildcats on stock legos
All the power bells and whistles still work with some TLC. (windows,hatches locks etc.)
Added a custom MP3 system with a couple of amps 6x9's and a 12' sub, sounds pretty good when out and about exploring in the bushes
Scored a brush guard from a Hardbody and added some cheap fog lamps.
Current working on getting parts for JGC/ RC AArm torsion bar suspension lift with a SS as I have a torn CV boot and need to replace the CV axle anyways
Maybe later some slighter bigger tires, body lift, etc etc drool drool.
This rig has yet to leave me stranded when out and about exploring the island fishing, hiking and all that great stuff (got er stuck a couple of times :o ) and I plan on putting in a little money and elbow grease here and there to keep me rollin'

I plan on doing the JGC rear coil lift and Roughcountry A-Arm torsion lift
My question is are the shocks the same for the front and rear, I will be replacing my stock shocks.
I looked over the forums and found the part numbers here;

Should I use the slightly longer shocks for the rear and stock specs shocks on the front? Or use the same on front and rear?

I am stockpiling parts for a 2-3 " lift on my stock 91 Pathy. Plan on using JCG coils I have, Roughcountry A-Arms, Rancho shocks and possible a steering stabilizor.
Maybe go up to a 32" X 11.50 Tire
From what I can tell I should not need new break lines/extensions....
Anyone have any advice for a backyard mechanic on a budget who plans on doing this lift or any other mods?
This site is rad, lots of knowledge and some wicked rigs

This happened to me at a most unfortunate time. I was out wheeling with a buddy, and stuck the Pathy in camoflaged mudhole up to passenger side mirror, had some water inside the passenger side just shy of the ECU. Got out of the vehicle with it running, doors locked on me. Ended up having to take rear passenger window out to get back in.
Top it off my buddys XJ had no tow points due to crappy unibody and could not pull me out witht he tow strap I had.
Found some help later from a guy and a small tug pulled me out.
Anyways I have a magnetic key holder now and hi lift jack with tow strap at all times(works until I can afford a winch)
Took some TLC to clean out the mud from interior but I still love the Pathy and keep adding mods here and there.

Thanks for the response, I ended up going to the wreckers and replacing the ignition thingy, the wrecker dude says it is pooched. Works all good now, just need to use a separate key for the ignition :cool2:

So went to head out this morning, notice someone broke into the Pathy, nothing was missing :o
Now I cannot turn the key in the ignition to get er started. The little black button on the side seems to be stuck. Tried 2 different keys, mine and the womans, still no go. Wiggled the steering wheel turning the key, nadda.
I am by no means a mechanic I admit
Could it be possible the would be thieves caused some damage to the tumblers?
Do I need a new ignition assembly?
Anything I missed?
I love my Pathy, she has yet to let me down
Anyone has any suggestions, advice, would appreciate it. :help:

I have a 91 4 door with spare carrier, installed the JGC coils from a JY, gave me about 2.5" of lift, I also have a 50 lb sub box and trail gear in the back, which prob doesn't help. Been on for about 5k miles or so and has not drooped yet. Over all very happy with the results considering it cost me little $$ and some elbow grease in my driveway
