  1. Have you ever tried to tighten your tuners? Maybe you need to try re-stringing it and use some nut lube too. It works great.

    You said nut lube.

    Sorry, had to.

Been playing for about 20 years. I have a 97' Gibson Les Paul Standard, a 1966 Gibson Melody Maker and a 2003 Fender Telecaster Custom 72' Reissue. I've also got a ****** 100watt Fender solid state half stack and a Sovtek Mig60 with a 2-12 cab. Sovtek sounds amazing.

  2. Are you talking about the Irish? Maybe the American Indians? It was the indigenous people of South America, right? The Indians?... Everyone's been beaten up & takin advantage of at some point so either go back to commenting on Obama calling Kanye the jackass he is or shut up in this thread & make a new thread about your views on race/politics in this country. Either way people need to keep their personal sh!t to PM's & don't comment on political & social propoganda when all we are trying to do is have a laugh at a funny statement.

I didn't make this @!*% up dog, chill out. I didn't start it I was simply replying to something within this thread. Sorry I blew your mind with my infinite wisdom. I do appreciate you obviously skipping straight to my post and not reading anything before mine.

" Interesting I would have thought Obama would have backed Kayne like he did Michael Jordan and that black professor. It wouldn't be the first time Obama had played the race card. Seems like theres a lot of colored celebrities doing rebellious attention-getting things lately (Serena Williams). Enough is enough of this white guilt bull@!*%."

"hmm.. i think you're seeing something that isn't there.. hatred can be so powerful. good luck with that."

"No hatred here, just objective observation.

From Dreams of My Father: "I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

From Dreams of My Father: "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race."

From Dreams of My Father: "There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

From Dreams of My Father: ; "It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names."

From Dreams of My Father: "I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, Dubois and Mandela."

From Dreams of My Father: "The emotions between the races could never be pure; even love was tarnished by the desire to find in the other some element that was missing in ourselves. Whether we sought out our demons or salvation, the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart."

Response to a quote: "The point I was making was not that Grandmother harbors any racial animosity. She doesn't. But she is a typical white person..."

From Dreams of My Father: "That’s just how white folks will do you."

Campaign: "Earlier in my college career, there was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the Black community I was somehow obligated to this community and would utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit this community first and foremost."

"for one, i have not read his book. for two, quotes are out of context. for three, he was raised in America.

out of all your quotes just 2 or 3 could be construed as racist without further text. "

"Racism by definition is simply cultivating the view that a certain race is superior to others. By that definition I would say all the quotes are racist, regardless of context. Plus I think he was raised in Hawaii; not really representative of mainstream US public opinion at the time."

  3. Injection molding company

Diamond turning specialist (I make optical masters on a lathe with diamond tool bits)

15 years of machining total, owning my own shop for a few, then started diamond turning in a R&D facility. This is probably the last job in the field in the area for me so I better figure out what I want to do when I grow up since I don't really like my job anymore...

    B

I did extrusion and injection molding for 5 years in Ohio. Was a good job and paid well just got tired spending all day in a dark windowless factory. Moved to Florida and became a bartender on the beach. For some strange reason I sometimes miss the plastics industry.

  4. Colorado State University

Multi-Medai Coordinator. Research and implement new learning technologies in the classroom. I also do a lot of video/audio production. Right now my main project is overseeing all the A/V in a new contruction project.

Followed the lady here where she got her Ph.D. I finished my B.A. here and worked here as a student doing video production and just kinda rolled right into it.

Got into A/V after playing in bands and doing a lot of DIY audio/video production. I get to play with a lot of cool toys all day and spend a lot of time at the computer.

My other job is being a professional social alcoholic and showing 21 year olds that 34 year olds can still party much harder than them.

  5. I Seems like theres a lot of colored celebrities doing rebellious attention-getting things lately (Serena Williams). Enough is enough of this white guilt bull@!*%.

"Colored"!?!?! Seriously? Does your pathfinder make it up to 88mph so you travel back to the 50's and use that term?

Also, I think there is a difference between thinking your race is superior to others and simply working towards leveling the playing field for a race that has historically been ostracized, beaten, murdered and forced into slavery.

  6. Hey Solidbob, How's your pathy running? Haven't been on the site all summer so I missed all the replies to this thread. Hopefully have mine back up and running this weekend. Pretty sure the clutch slave cylinder seal is shot.

Actually runs great so far. I've had it for a few months and no major problems. I done the tune-up thing, gave it a once over and had to put a new starter in it but that's about it. Probably look into getting the timing belt changed out soon. Guy I bought it from said he changed the water pump but didn't say anything about the timing belt. The water pump leaks a few drops everytime I turn it off but no big deal. I am at 190,000 miles right now so timing belt woudn't hurt. Just want to be sure I want to put money into it first.

Right now it's my daily driver. Actually not too bad on the highway.

  7. This is the real part number 24866-54A00 Courtesy uses bogus numbers for some reason.

It fits truck and pathys 93 and older. Also the B12 (sentra) 1/86 and newer uses the same part.

thanks! he said it was a ten digit number but sounded like he knew what it was. I'll try one more time with this info.

  8. So I talked to the Nissan dealership a second time, I gave him the 25020 part number, told him where it was located on the instrument cluster and what it does, he said he has it listed as some kind of voltage amp and that it costs $120! He described it as the little silver box on the back with the three wires also. I think I will go the Radio Shack route and do the soldering job that is posted somewhere here, that costs 2 dollars. If that doesn't work I may look for one in a junk yard but there is no way I'm paying $120 for that part. Not even positive it is the voltage regulator but for 2 bucks I can't afford not to try it. I'm thinking it is because no matter how much I drive my temp gauge also never moves.

Also, does anyone know an easy way to disable that annoying chime when the driver's door is open? That drives me crazy.

Thanks for all the input. WIth all the great info on here it almost looks like I know what I'm doing.

  9. So I've been following threads for changing the regulator for the gas and temp gauges, as mine do not work in my 92 Pathfinder. I called the Nissan dealership and they can't find nor have they heard of this part. I explained it to him, what it does, looks like and even the part # from one of the PDFs another poster provided us about how to change it. Is there a certain way to ask for this? I asked for the voltage regulator for the gas/temp gauges that is located behind the instrument cluster. I'll try radio shack as i heard it's a pretty generic part but I don't really want to tear my dash apart if I get the wrong thing.

    Thanks

  10. I found this cable under my hood and 3 different mechanics can't tell me what it's for. I'll try to post up these pics I've taken. The first is the end of the cable. I'm assuming it is supposed to connect to the battery and looks to be a positive cable as it is fused. It was laying beside the battery when I got my pathfinder. The other photos is where it ends, couple cables look to go towards the headlight and one other goes across towards the driver's side somewhere. My best guess is that's it's for fog lights as I have a button that I'm guessing is for the fog lights (4th picture) that does nothing. Looks like there may be spots where they used to be under the headlights. Thanks for the help, sorry if I'm answering my own ??.

  11. Just got done riding with my blue heeler "Pilsner" when I read this. He loves the truck!

Guess you have to click on the pic, not sure why it didn't come up?? But it does when you click.

  12. Will do. In the shop right now, I should get it back tomorrow and I'll PM you with the info. I thought the VIN looked a little different than what you were talking about.

I am an idiot, I meant your Model number. It is found on the Plate in the engine bay on the passenger side. I am sorry for the confusion. PM that to me and I will give you the breakdown.

Look at your VIN number. It will start off with a W for Wagon, H for the VG30E engine, L for left hand drive, Y for 4WD, D21 which is pathfinder, then D for 4 door, since there were no 2 door 92's, then it will say P or J. J is for XE, while P is for SE. (this only applies for models made in august 89 and on.)

The first 15 digits of your VIN tell all. If you want to post the first 15 up (not uniquely identifiable to you,) I will confirm what packages came with your rig.

  14. Thanks for the info. So with these options would you say I have an SE or XE? Like I said I've seen pathfinders that say "Pathfinder SE" on the back lift gate but mine just says Pathfinder but I have all the options.

Well, the only real distinguishing thing that would distinguish it from xe versus se is the sunroof...cause i have xe and alot of that stuff too....anyways...

The e-at button, from what i know, changes your shift points to compensate for heavy accel. and if you watch it while you gun the truck, it will light up if on auto, but i usually turn it to power vs auto when im offroading, just for good measure.

You don't want Overdrive on for ALL situations, i.e. towing, strenuous work, offroading.....mostly towing, because when you cruise while towing being in OD could put xtra wear and tear on the engine....

You will find an overdrive button on most SUV's and towing capable trucks.....its mostly due to the fact that when people tow, they cruise @ 55-70mph, and if you've ever been cruising, you will notice your engine goes into a kind of 'sleep' mode, and if you try to quickly accelerate it shifts, THEN accelerates.....you can also see this if you cruise @ say 55, then hit the overdrive button, it will shift and end up in higher rpm's.....overdrive will save you gas on long trips and highway speeds..........

  15. Just got my pathfinder. Just says it's a pathfinder but, doesn't say SE or XE but I thought I read somewhere that it depends on what options package you have and mine seems to be pretty loaded. Not sure why it wouldn't specify SE or XE if it was, just thought with all the options it may be one of those.

Any info on this would be appreciated.

    92' Pathfinder

    V6

    Automatic

    4WD

    Sunroof

    Roof rack

    Power windows/locks

    Cruise Control

    Sport/Touring option

Has another button next to Sport/Touring that I guess is fog lights but I don't think it currently does anything.

Also has the E-AT button, which I've read about but not totally sure how to use it.

Also, I read somewhere that you should leave Overdrive on all the time. Is this correct? The orange overdrive light comes on when I turn it off. Seems a little weird but I'm totally new to these vehicles.

    Thanks!

  16. "Problems with your fuel and temp gauges are common with the 95 and older trucks. On the back of your cluster is a small box with some wires coming out of it going to different points on the cluster. This is a voltage regulator for the gauges and it is known to fail. I got a new one at my local dealer for about $25 and it took about a total of 2 min to replace. (from MrReverse)"

I got this from the tips thread. Just bought my 92' Pathfinder and gas gauge isn't working. I'm hoping this is the problem and it's not in the tank. Anyway, my question is: Where exactly is this cluster located? Is it in the dash behind he gauges or under the hood against the firewall? Sorry, I'm new to Pathfinders and haven't worked on any cars since high school. Any advice pics or descriptions of what this looks like would be great, thanks!

  17. New to the forum and new to Pathfinders. Was just looking to buy a cheap car to get around and stumbled upon my 1992 Pathfinder. Paid 800 for it. It's got 190,000 miles. Auto 4X4 and pretty loaded. Wasn't really interested in it too much as I live in college town and bike most places but I drove it for a few days and started to really enjoy it. Then I found this forum and now think I may become obsessed with it.

I hope to start posting in the garage section soon as there are quite a few thing I'd like to fix/upgrade/replace.

I already know I need a new stater. I got the oil changed the other day and it wouldn't start in the parking lot of the shop. A few hammer taps and it was back up. It was about to go anyway but from what I've read sound like they may have spilled some oil on it and killed it.

The gas gauge doesn't seem to work. I put 7 gallons in when I first got it and nothing. Still researching that one.

The wipers and the heat/ac only work sometimes, not consistent it seems and definitely seems to be wipers/heat/ac together. All other dash components work as well as stereo. Power door lock switch isn't working, i'll check out the relays and the timer.

Anyway, look forward to interacting with everyone, seems to be quite a wealth of knowledge here. I know most of this info belongs in the garage/how to section but any advice would be appreciated.
