  1.

    Oh yes.

So, these are 255/70r16 Duratracs, actually just bought them late last week.

I went through a lot of debate on what I was going to do here.

First, I had ordered 15x8 flat black series 52 at a fantastic price and was planning on running 31x10.5s. I became paranoid with caliper clearance and potential future brake upgrades, so I changed the order to 16x8s (which of course I couldn't get in flat black - oh well).

Then, I was dead set on 265/70r16 Duratracs. In my mind, those were the tires and that was that. A friend of mine (on the boards Vancity_R50) was in the process of the same, except he was a few steps ahead of me. He got the wheels and tires (265/70 Grabber AT2) about a week before my wheels came in. After some discussion (mostly internal), realizing that a lift is not in my near future, and the amount of hwy driving I am currently doing, I decided to drop down a size and hope it came out alright.

I'm pretty happy with the results. Realistically, we're talking 0.5" diameter and 0.5" width differences. Obviously bigger side by side, but the numbers aren't drastically different.

If I end up keeping the truck by the time new tires are needed, I will probably do the typical OME lift and step up a size or two.

    And thanks for the compliment!

What lift are you on right now? Looks awesome

  2. I did this to my 99 SE with XPLORx4's LSD a long time ago. Mine was open diff and Dean got a locker. :)

I thought all Qx4 have LSD!

And so you swapped over the entire diff, carrier and all?

It was an option on QX4's. I found a 97 QX4 locking rear axle assembly at a junkyard about 200 miles away, best option at this point. Wonder if it would even be worth it though (given the amount of work and $200 price of diff)

  3. Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I was clicking around the announcements and this was a shock to me. Jared was a great guy and helped out a young, dumb me around 2007-2008.

I was in my first year at CWU and had a black 92 Pathfinder that I put all-terrains on so I thought I was a badass offroader. There were some great trails north of Ellensburg that I would frequent, and one particular outing I got stuck in super deep snow. I had to walk out about 5 miles with a friend (learned a lesson not to wheel with only one car!). I had no idea what to do. After some brainstorming I thought to look into local offroad forums, seeing if anyone around the area could help salvage it. I pleaded my case to some central Washington offroad forum, Jared responded and offered to help. Even though his pathfinder was way more built than mine, deep snow is nothing to mess with - luckily Jared had a backup plan.

He picked me up and we started off towards the mountains - got to know him a bit, cool laid back guy. We got to my car and luckily no one else had discovered it/messed with it, it had been sitting in a deep gully off of the trail for a good 2 weeks. Jared got stuck as well trying to get closer and attempt a tow, but didn't panic at all. He had been talking to someone on CB, a friend of his. He was giving updates on location and it turns out this friend of his was the actual planned rescue the whole time, he was in a trailered single-seat Toyota on 40" swampers - a fully built crawler. When the Toyota arrived Jared and I stood back in wonder as this thing tooled in and out of the gully with ease just to show how capable it was, then lined up to winch us both out.

Found some pictures on my old photobucket

I'm sure they both thought I was a dumbass kid (which I was) but they were both super cool about it and helped me out immensely. My parents would have been pissed had they known. Afterwards I would wave any time I saw him driving the pathfinder around, unfortunately didn't keep in touch/hang out due to being different ages and cliques. I'll never forget the time he saved my ass though, taught me a love for offroading at the same time. RIP Jared!

  4. Howdy ya'll,

You'll notice my 2006 join date back when I had a 93 pathfinder. I'm once again back into a pathfinder (sorta) in the form of a 97 QX4 as a winter beater/daily (my summer/track car being a Dakar yellow e36 M3). I've added an aftermarket steering wheel, short ram intake, and some 31's on unknown brand steel wheels. Looking forward to lifting it and adding some lockers perhaps. So many good trails around me!

  5. well i did pretty much everything that was suggested, checked fuses fusable links all relays, starter connections, whacked the starter, i hate electrical stuff!

so i got it towed today to a shop :furious:

    i have failed

least the tow was free, yay AAA

  6. heres a little additional info until i update tomorrow when i work on it- i tried jumping it, no change, and i checked most of the important fuses and they were good. i have a multimeter i just need to get good at using it, ill try tomorrow. thanks for all the help so far!

  7. my car wont start! i was on my way to go on some trails when i slipped it in 2 besides d accidently, dont know if that has anything to do with it but right when i did that my tachometer went out (saying 0rpms when engine was still on) i turned it off to see if it would come back up and it wouldnt start up again. my cd player still works but once i turn the key all the way to start the cd player goes out and nothing happens, no starter click or anything.

I suspect its a relay but im not sure which one, i replaced some but to no avail. Which one should i be looking for that would cause this? and any other suggestions on what to check. i hate electrical stuff so please help! thanks!

  8. haha could it be an...SR20??

My current engine compared to an SR20 is more displacement and a bigger turbo (im using a T3 from an old 300zx) at more boost. It also cost less along with being more powerful.

The ka-turbo vs SR20 thing has been argued about since the dawn of time. both are good engines, but having an SR20 in a 240 isnt even a novelty anymore since its such a popular swap.

thanks for the warm welcome btw. i promise i wont ask noob questions im very familiar with forums and using the search button. you guys have awesome smilies that ive never seen before, they are awesome.

such as :allclean: :Magic: :hide: and :secret: lol

  9. hey everyone, im just getting into offroading its pretty cool. I love nissans, my other car is a 240SX that Ive put heaps of money into. Its getting a little too un-road worthy (track car) so i purchased a 92 pathfinder SE auto as a daily driver and im lovin it! starting to catch the offroad bug as well.
