  1. If your radiator is flowing properly and thermostat is working id lean towards airflow AKA fan clutch or clogged raidiator fins not allowing air flow to get through

if you can think about going with an electric cooling fan. Thats what I think at least half the people on this forum have done , I know i have on my last two suvs including the pathy. I recently changed form a cheap dual elecric fan setup to a single taurus 2-speed fan and the cooling system is thanking me she usually stays a couple of notches below the halfway mark , a marked difference from before. I also replaced my raidiator ,but that was 2 years ago. Good luck

  2. Thanks mws

by the way where im at the auto parts store has

a plate design for only ten $ more than the tube design

from what the labels say the plate fin design is the most efficiant

i just wanted to get somones opinion who had exp with auto's because i usually stear clear of them im partial to manual trany

this tsuck was just too good of a deal to pass up

90 f250 4x4 big steel flatbed with toolboxes for 500$

its in mint condition the only thing wrong it blew a freeze plug out the

    rear of the block

ill have it fixed this weekend i just want to make sure the trany is haul ready

    before i pulling with it

its not going to be a full time truck anyway ive got my one ton dually for that

ijsut wanted this one for the 4x4

and who doesnt want four trucks any way sly

  3. Iwould like to know which tranny cooler is the best design

I do alot of pulling with the truck that its going in

what i need to know is should i go with the plate and fin design

or the tube and fin design

the tubed one seems like it would move more fluid while the plate/fin design

    seems it would cool faster

this is not going in my pathy by the way

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

  4. :o

    Calling 88

who would know about an 96 hardbody 4cyl 4x4

A friend of mine is stuck in austin the mechanic there says their truck is out of time and the valve guides shredded and are all through the motor its a four cyl and i thought that was a belt like ours they are saying it is a chain is this possible

the chain jumping time and shredding vavle guides ive never opened up the 4cyl

    before

  5. OK i know that I am gonna get a bunch of ,gods, and crazy baldheaded f#$%er

    with this one ;)

    but here goes

I have a 91 pathy five speed with an aftermarket class lll hitch and its fair to say that ive probably abused the hell out of it but, i also trust my pathy 100 more

mechanicaly more than say my 89 GMC 1ton dually .Granted the dually pulls so much more so easily and handles better under load (max load so far 22,000lbs

truck ,trailer, and load )But when i first started my scrap metal buis I used the pathy to pull all of my loads. Now the reason that i bought the 1 ton was to aviod

destroying the pathy BUT I have and dont recomend pulled damn near 18,000 with my pathy now Ive pulled trailers all of my life but I would never do that with an autotragic

Ive never liked even pulling with a full size truck with auto

Any who the pathy is a very capable tow rig just be carefull and no auto tranny

    my .02

  6. you can use a jack and do it manually with a crowbar but this is what i recomend

    www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=34542

Its $49.99 US and if not that then go pay the 7-12 dollars wherever you need to

because to do it by hand is a PITA

    just my 2 cents

  7. Got my 91 for $1200 with brand new 31's on her and 200,000 miles

and I remember thinking (I wonder if this little thing can do what my old cheby

    could do ?)

THAT and more i continue to be amazed by my pathy

she still pretty much stock and i have never been in a situation where

she didnt eventually crawl out of with no help and yes i do abuse her

:sniff: ive had my winch since july and the only thing that ive been able to do with it besides work is pull other people out of stuff they got into

    shes just to great

ive regularly pulled things with it that most of you on this forum would think i was crazy for and she kept up with my buddies old ford 3/4 ton 4spd

ill say it a million times this is true with alot of vehicles

with these pathys, good upkeep and there is no limit to what they can do

    very capable rigs

sorry guys lust had to brag on my babay for a second

And to answer the question of this post 12 months this month -bounce-

    Its my pathys b-day

  8. If you rolled her over for any length of time you probably lost the fluid out of your master cyl for the clutch try what the other guys said if that doesnt work star looking for a broken line running down to the clutch slave cyl

    good luck ;)

  9. Id agree with the guys before me if your cruising and your interference engine's

t-belt broke your going to bend some valves do a compression check to be sure

but you can bet youll be doing some head work soon hopefully not for your sake but pathys are if im correct all interference motors sorry :hide:

  10. I do have the stock LSD in my pathy i just was wanting to put more power to both wheels when I am pulling these old heaps out of the woods to haul

And i was thinking about a locker but the're pretty pricy arent they

Ido put alot of wheight on my trailer and drag it through some turns

i was just trying to do it the cheapest way

  11. Ive got a welder and i can weld pretty good its just an arc welder hope fully it will

work does anyone know will my Arc-120 get deep enough it should be able to get to about 1/4" is that deep enough? Do i just pull the cover off and weld those spiders or what just dont want to do the wrong thing

  12. thanks guys Ill be able to decide now what to do i said in other post that i do alot of hauling with my pathy i pull a 16" trailer with about 3-7 thousand pounds on it

at least 3 times a week and sometimes i use her as a wrecker recovering old cars

from out in the woods without tires on them and haul them for scrap so i need to be sure puting that much weight behind my pathy is ok with a welded rearend

and for those of you that wonder the pathy does see a lot of woods time

  13. I broke mine wheelin I just went to autozone and got another one (aftermarket)

telescoping (man) with a spring on the bottom so as not to break it playin again

routed the new anten cable that came with it through the fender and the firewall

the whole thing only took about 30 minutes .The ant. was a universal one that had

a trim adapter that is mainly for Fords but it coverd the Nissan square hole in the fender Nicely.I think it only cost about $15. Good luck B)

P.S. I dont think the mast just screws off mine didnt

but the plate and shaft under the mast in the fender has a screw holding it on the truck.

  14. Ive read the diff post and seen mentioned about welding the rearend how do you do this And is it as good as say posi-trac is it better or is a locker better

are the main risks bad gas milage or is there more to it help me please? :help:

  15. So i called today to my salvage yard asked for JGC coils for a 93-97 jgc

with a V8 they said it didnt matter in their books wether it was a v8 or not

they are all the same and i wish they were only ten dollars apeice $40 per spring

:o used , ouch any way im going to look around some more ,if these guys are wrong somebody let me know please i dont want to buy a spring that wont do what i want

  16. I know i think me and everyone els is beating a half dead horse asking these questions. Any way i was wondering if the JGC coils should come from an 1980 grand cherokee or from an 1998 and above grand cherokee and only from the front axle or what the rest of the procedure i understand. Im going to buy new ones, and im going to heat the pigtail and bend it, I just want to be positive which

i should pick .So again im sorry for asking this question for the million'th time

in different posts and thankyou in advance
