I didn't take a reeeaal close look, all I saw, was a rubber hose with a 90° bend. That's ma story, an uma stick'n 2 it.
-
I checked mine after slick had posted this , just to see where the critter hides. My '98 looks the same.

I work around heavy equipment, what the mechs. do, is install a hydralic hose with a 45° fitting on one end, and a screw in plug on the other. Run the hose from the oil pan to a convenient place at the side of the equipment. Makes it easy to drain the oil. Hydralic hose is quite strong.

What a nasty little place for a leak. Glad ya got 'er solved Slick. Sometimes the smallest jobs, can be the biggest pain in the a...sphalt.

That's a nice touch Pezzy.

Not bad prices people! The dealer that I use sometimes, has a sign in the service loby for 96-01 pathfinder locking hubs installed for $495.00. I think I'll do it myself in the spring, when things warm-up around here.

Just a quick question, what kind of goodies will a 1750 W inverter run?
-
Oh, and be sure to mark which hose is "in" and which is "out" in case you ever want to add a tranny filter.
Ok, but how can I figure out which is in or out? (probably a simple solution)
and I do want to add a tranny filter.

Hi leojharris,
I had a knocking sound in the front of my Pathfinder. Could really hear it on rough roads.
It was the sway bar link. On the R-50 Pathy it connects the sway bar to the strut, it's about 7-8 inches long.
You could allso check the struts for leaks.
This is about the extent of my knowledge.

Ohhhh Yaaaa!!! The Dakar.....My favorite. Alot of awsome pics. Go Nissan! (for the next one)

Thanks for all the input on this.
I checked a Chilton manual, and it says, ATF Dexron III
-
I could use some info also.
If not ATF in the transfer case, then what fluid should be used? The reason I ask is because, I took my Pathy to a quick-change place and they put ATF in the TC. :help:

Thanks for the help, people. I'll check that stuff.

....the front end, when going over a bumpy road?

I got to check mine for the first time today. 7.09 km/L or about 20 Mi./Gal. City /HWY, I couldn't figure out why people are only getting 13-14 Mi./Gal.......and it just klicked in........I'm in Canada and these people are in the USA. A measured gallon in Canada is greater in volume than a US Gallon. That would explain the difference in gas mileage.
I'm pleased with my results. 20 MPG . Some domestic V6 in SUV's can't compete with that, and they don't last as long either.

JKimes, I'm not a mechanic. Try checking your radiator, for signs of oil. Maybe a head gasket or something has failed. Maybe a loss of pressure in one cylinder could cause the rpm to fluctuate.

Welcome, Oldpathy. I'm quite new here also. About 2 weeks ago I purchased my first Pathfinder. So far, it impresses the heck out of me. Mine just turned 129,000 km. 1998

This is interesting stuff.
So, did Nissan change or beef-up, the steering components on the later models?
I ask this, because I have a 1998 Pathy.
-
Trainman, I certainly hope so

Welcome Ian, nice wheels,. I am new, by a couple days to this great site. I drive a '98 Pathy Chilkoot.

I crawled under my Pathy today, and saw a sticker that read "LSD Oil Only" and an orange sticker right below it. Woo whooooooo!!!!!
Well.....it would seem, that nomatter the model, Pathfinders are quite well equiped.
I'm looking forward, to using the 4x4 this winter.
When I get some pics of my Pathy I'll post them.

Hmmmmm....add 15 degrees to the windshield to make it more virtical, and *>>POOF<<* you've got a remake of the International Scout. '06 style. Remember them?
