  1. With the drier thing, my point was that you could use your standard home wiring and run a single phase 220v for your garage, because 3 phase requires them to run a new line from the poles to your house (if it is carried past your house atall)

    I have yet to see a 140amp MIG welder with more than a 10% duty cycle...were you looking at sticks?

    As for the ready welder, the cheapest I've seen them are in excess of 450 bucks, and those are great for what their used for...trail repairs....they too have fairly low duty cycles....

  2. ok i sold my path and got a 1986 nissan 4x4 just wanted to know if anyone knew what the hell is going on

    ok its a napz with weber 40's

    the problem that im having is trying to start the engine it will start to crank then you will hear a ping or something and it will stop cranking the starter is good tested it. can anyone know what can be wrong with it

    one other problem im having is when i did have it running i can rev it till it wants to shoot flames but wheni put it in gear and let off the clutch it will kill its self tryed to pop the clutch and go but still kills its self (i need to redo the fuel lines not setup right)

Idk bout a bumper or the frame, but it depends on the material....if you want to use 1/8" steel, sure, you could go spend under 250 bucks and grab a 110v, but if you want anything that will be worth the effort, you are gonna want atleast 3/16", which can be painstaking, difficult, and possibly not get the penetration required unless you get a 220v

    seen alot of people have this one lincoln mig welder 3200hd seen it at homedeopt and napa or something just like it but would this be able to weld up a cage some chassis welding with out having to come back after every run on the trail just to find out that the welds that i just did cracked or what not

    or get out on the trail and role the 4000LB truck over thinking that the cage that i just did is going to save everything but just falls apart.

     

    as for the metals that i would use i can use just about anything cus one of my friends dad own a shop that i can get it from for CHEAP

  4. alright well i was looking at some mig welders and seen some from 100-1300 dollars i know who to weld from school and all that but as far as picking what welder to but i have no idea so for all you out there who have one let me know what i should get

     

    "i want to do some tube welding for like a cage for the truck,

    some solid bumper welding like the ones you see on https://www.4x4parts.com

    and just some frame welds that need to be done

    other then that i think thats it

    dont really want to spend 2000 on a welder if i dont have to and i dont have all that much time to work on the rig

  5. Is there any sort of codes being given by the computer?

    only that one for the miss fire havent ran it for any codes lately but did pull the fuel filter and was shocked by what i seen

    gas in the filter was black black and there was alot of dirt and grind in there

    so i changed it but dont know if my gas tank is the same way or if my injectors are clogged

  6. Ok man, check this thread out.

     

    This one hurt my feeling as I had a 98 with only 114K (?) and gave up loking for its source of problems!

    its a strong engine you just have to find those small things that are cheap and break easy or just go out on stock

    but with all that said i still have yet to find whats the problem,

    not that i cant find it i just havent had the time or anyone to help me.

    like turn the key so that i can see if its the distrbuter or what

  7. Ignition misfire usually leads to need new distributor.....

    Is it possible that you have been driving though large water puddles or parking over an automatic sprinkler head? Is there some post ignition burning in the exhaust manifolds (loud popping sound)

    Seen this before almost sounds like water/condensation in the distributor cap....

    Ok to day i took off the fuel filter both lines at each end of the filter had gas coming out so i think im going to say that the fuel pump should be good cus theres gas in my lines.

    i checked the distributor cap for cracks or dust looks good doesnt move around or anything didnt pull out the whole distributor just the cap

    i was looking at the little tab under the distributor the one that spins and hits all the plug ends looks to be really small but not sure what size i should be yet.

    all the fuses are good (in the cab and under the hood)

    cant really take the whole distributor out today cus of the rain,

    but is there anything that anyone can think of or is there anything that i didnt look for or at that might be the problem.

    well there is a tick sound somewhere around the distributor side of the engine but its not that loud and only does it every now and then

    do go into some big mud pits and here on guam its rainy season.

    today it just went dead and now i cant start it anymore was thinking it might be the pump but havent had the time to take off the gas tank.

  9. well i was driving my path around the other day and everything was fine the i pulled up to a friends house and it started to get a low idle and jump up and down,

    didnt know what it was tryed to drive it and then let off the clutch and it died on me started it up again and then took off again and had to give it alot of gas just to take off. as i was driving around after that to try to see if it would go away the truck started to jump almost like i was getting on and off the gas fast but the RPMs stayed the same.stoped and just about red lined it and it went away.

    got to a shop and did a check engine light cus it came on and it was a ignition miss fire.

    first thing that i thought was to change my plugs an wires so i did that,

    then today it started to do it again, rev it and it went away no engine light today.

     

    does anyone know what it can be or does anyone know someone that would?

    going to do a lucus injec clean today and see if it does anything.

    o yea i have around 195*** miles on her now

    i had the same problem that link has everything you need

    i can go 4x4 with no problem i and it will spin and everything i do have a small problem when off roading or not really a problem more a irritation i cant fully turn my wheels unless i start to role but i think its cus of the offset of the paths

     

    anyways my problem is only when i hit the breaks or when i turn in stop or driving slow

    i looked at my steering rack to check if the bushings are ok and the right side looks ok might have to change it soon cus i can only see alittle of it

    do you think u can take a pic of ur front end the bushings and all the so that i can see whats up with mine?

  11. :doh:i dont know what it is but there is a clunk noise when im sitting there and i turn the wheel about 4 to 5 clunks only on the left front side

    i can also hear one clunk when im driving only when i hit the breaks and all the weight goest to the front.

    dont know if this will help or if its something completely different but when im driving i have play in my wheel to the left then i jerk left and right down the road and then i have play to the right go over some bumps and turn left an what do you know i have play to the left.

    so if anyone out there has ever had this problem or knows what it is just let me know.

     

    THINGS THAT I CAN SEE THAT ARE WRONG:

    1 CV BOOTS ARE CUT OPEN ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT

    OPEN FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

    NOTHING ELSE THAT I CAN SEE. :doh::headwall:

  12. What he said. If you just want to lift it, you don't need to Solid Axle Swap (SAS). If you want to do hard-core offroading, a solid axle swap, a mild lift and some good tires should be plenty unless you're doing competition stuff. Keep in mind ride and handling change a LOT with height, especially on such a compact truck... If by "have a lot of trucks" you mean you can pull from salvage or very old trucks, I'd suggest being careful. Some of those parts may not be in great condition...

     

    I guess the point of all this babbling is: what exactly is your goal ? We can probably help more if we understood the goal.

     

    well ihave dana 40s just sitting here and some axles from a land cruser and some other toy stuff sitting around

    didnt want to take everything off my r50 and then all the stuff i have wont fit.

    it would be nice to do a SAS but just want to do it right.

    if anything ill just do the 2" lift and 1" spacers and all that

  13. There is no suspension lift bigger than 3" that will work with the IFS. Since it is a unibody there are no body lifts. The only other two options are a sub frame drop or a solid axle swap, both of which are custom fabrication.

     

    do you know of any solid axle swap kits that i might be able to buy or what kinds will work

    and if so would i have to change out my 5 speed trans and gears? i can weld up everything just need to know what to use

     

    o yea i have some landcruser axles on a 4runner and some just sitting around would that work

  14. i got a 97 path and was thinking about doing a solid front axel and a 4-6inch lift whats the best axel that i can get and use with out costing to much.

    i got alot of trucks in my yard that i can take from.

    just wanted to know what kind would be the best

  15. hey everyone i have a 97 pathy with a manual transmission it runs great but my transmission is loose or some thing because when ever i put it into 3rd or 5th and have the clutch in it will just shift out of gear,and when ever im in 5th and start to slow down it will push its self into N

    i was told by some guys that there was a plastic thing that holds it into place and that it might just be old and ran down.

    Does anyone know what this could be and how to fix it and what exactly the name of the part if there is a part to buy.

  16. hey everyone i have a 1997 pathy 4X4 5speed and when ever i put it into 3rd and let go of the shifter whit the clutch still in it will fall out into N

    and when i have it in 5th and hit the breaks to slow down some times it will go into N it wont do it in 1st 2nd 4th or R only in 3rd and 5th

    does any one know what this is?

    please dont say its a full trans problem because i just got this one the other day
