  1. **Just a side note here, but in Japan, the R50 never came with the VQ35DE as engine variation. Aside from what Wikipedia alleges as legitimate info, the JDM version had three engine options. From 1996-2004, the only options were:

    - gas (VG33E);

    - and two diesel variations (QD32DTi '96-'99, ZD30DDTi '99-'04)

    I've always wondered why these variations weren't available here, and why the VQ wasn't a variation over there... :shrug:

    I think it has to do with competition in North America. Imagine a 270hp GMC Envoy vs 170hp Pathfinder.

    Having owned both a VG and now a VQ, I must admit the added power is awesome!! It really changes the personality of the truck. The VG is a solid, tried and true engine and has aged very well. However I would choose the VQ if given the choice.

  2. Wow I guess im not the only one!! Lately I've been looking for the same thing you are. As mentioned earlier the only game that comes close is 4x4 Evo which has a R50 Pathfinder and Xterra. It has a nice selection of vehicles however I wish you could do some slow speed off-roading instead of speeding down a dirt road.

  3. Sorry for the newbie question but I've read and searched but Im still a little confused with Nissan's All Mode 4wd system. When you're in 4Hi or 4Lo are all axles locked together like a "diff lock"? The gauge on the instrument cluster shows "locked" Does the Pathfinder come with a locking diff???

    I read up on Jeep's Quadra Drive system....it seems pretty good. Is our's similiar?

  4. Hey guys,

    Although I didn't post much, I was on this forum back when I had my 1997 SE.

    I sold the Pathfinder in 2005 for a new Altima 3.5. In the 3yrs of leasing the Altima I kept thinking about my Pathfinder. I've driven many vehicles and for some reason the R50's fit me like a glove. You truly don't know what you've got until its gone.

    Well tonight Im back baby!!!! I purchased a 2004 LE. My local Nissan dealer specifically brought this in for me and it is in mint condition. The previous owner really took care of it.

    I'm so excited!!! I pick her up on Saturday.

    It's good to be back.

  5. Ha Ha this thread is so funny cuz I'm in the same situation.

    I had a 1997 Pathfinder which I traded in last year for a 2005 Altima 3.5. While I love my Altima there is just something about the Pathfinder that I miss. I even test drove a 96 4Runner which was in amazing shape and an excellent truck but it just didn't fit me like the Pathfinder did. For me its Pathfinder or nothing. Although I would like to get another R50, the WD21's are looking just as good to me as well.

    Congrats on your new rig by the way!!
