  1. Has anyone replaced their front bumper on a 96-99 Pathy? Is it easy? Time consuming? How much should it cost (parts+labor) I banged mine up over the winter, and I am finally getting around to fixing it. I'm trying to decide whether to do it myself, or if it's worth it to have a body shop replace it.

    Thanks!!!

  2. Thanks to both of you (Vengeful and Pezzy).

I'd like to improve the armor on my pathy as I got quite a bit of damage on the Cherokee I used to own. The catch is that I live in Seattle so most of the places that I drive off road either involve puddles, streams, or both. I don't mind the dirt a bit, I just want to make sure that I am not going to add rock protection, only to increase water vulnerability.

  3. Can anyone tell me how hard it is to take the factory nerf bars off? I've looked at the mounting bolts, but I can't tell if they have nuts behind them, or if they are simply screwed in.

I have a 45 minute window to get it done and I am just wondering if that is going to be enough time.

    Thanks!!!

  4. I just bought new tires. I was originally looking at the Bridgestone Dueller Revo's myself, but I ended up buying the Toyo Open Country A/T's instead. They were $100 bucks cheaper for the set and they came with a 30 day no questions asked satisfaction guarantee. I have to wait until the weekend after next to really try them out because of the Easter holiday, but I will certainly be back to let you know. Toyo is the only brand I'll buy on my street cars, so I have high hopes that the quality carries over to their SUV tires.

So far, they have been on wet and dry pavement, and a wet dirt road. The difference is already noticable fron the Grabber AW that I had before. They look great too!

  5. Hi There,

I recently bought a 1999 Chilkoot Trail Edition Pathfinder as a replacement for a Jeep Cherokee Sport. I chose the Pathfinder for its great reputation for reliability and off-road prowess, but as I read 4x4 and off-road websites, I am getting the impression that I bought the "Red-head stepchild" model year series when it comes to off-road ability. So far, I have only had opportunity to test it on very easy unpaved logging roads and some deep sand and it performed beautifully on both. I also expect to encounter moderate snow (1 foot or less), and very muddy conditions in my various outdoor pursuits. Basically, I encounter lots of poor traction situations, but I rarely need to clear obstacles. Can anyone comment on how this rig handles in such conditions? I also can't seem to find much in the way of aftermarket accessories. I'd like to put air lockers in, but I can't seem to get a difinitive answer on whether or not they are available for this model.

    Thanks all,
