  1. Yep, I think poor AM reception is just part of having the diversity antenna. Kenwood unit in my Pathy...awful. Kenwood unit with standard antenna in my Titan...awesome.

I dont get it though, I have the antenna that comes up automatically, I also have an antenna on the windshild (looks like an antenna) how does it connect? Can I do anything about it?

  2. I have a 97 Pathy and my AM reception sucks specially when I go under power lines. I drive my wife's Honda and she gets much better AM reception in places I dont. I have the window antenna on the windshield and also the automatic antenna. When I replaced the head unit with a Kenwood system I purchased an adapter for the antenna but the antenna wire looked like a regular antenna wire but with 2 prongs. Any help on this would ber appriciated. thanks

  3. Hi all . I need some advice. I am moving from Los Angeles to Atlanta. I was thinking of selling most of my furniture and whats left I would tow on a trailer with my 97 Pathfinder. I have a hitch I think its 2" and Im wondering what kind of trailer I can tow with it or how much weight. And by weight does that mead on the ball or the trailer itself? I am going over the rockies and woried about braking or the trailer being to heavy. Any one have this experience?

  4. Mine is usually about on. But i added my own factory temp gauge and placed the sensor right inside/behind the nissan logo on the front grille. The stock place seemed too close to the radiator which would probably be why yours is a little inaccurate.

What do you mean "your own" Did you buy one from Nissan or did you use a generic one? If so where did you get it. Also is the OEM a certain color? I think I looked there and there were 2 sensors. Can you help me identify which one it is? thanx

  5. The problem is finding a Nissan diesel and then finding parts for it. They're not sold in the US, you'll have to order every part you need from Japan or Canada or Australia or something.

Other than that, you could try to find any diesel engine and tranny and put it in yourself. It'll be innovative but expensive. I highly doubt you'll recoup the costs through fuel savings any time soon. You'd be better off to sell the Pathy and buy a VW Rabbit.

    I was afraid of that

  6. Has anyone ever converted or attempted to convert their pathy to a Diesel or Biodiesel to use PVO? I get 14 MPG and I'm tired of paying up the **s for gas. I figured it might be time to buy a new car but them I thought why not just invest in a new engine. Anyone have any ideas? I saw an episode of Pimp your ride where they converted some old American car with a turbo charged bio diesel engine that had over 825 HP and still got 25mpg. I am not looking for that kind of power but a little more than what I have stock and better gas mileage. Any ideas?

Also, do you get bad mileage with diesel engines on the street? I heard the greatest benefit is on the freeway.

  7. Sounds like you got the jisst of it!!

One more tip from me that I have found to really help is to find a hobby. (if you dont already have one). I have a few like riding the dirtbike, boating or 4x4'ing none of which I have been able to do lately but anyway. What I really mean is a simpler maybe less expensive hobby. I have taken up brewing beer. A hobby gives you a little time away from the fam. Not too much time but just enough. I'd say to brew a batch of beer from start to finish a month later takes a total of about 4-6 hours. Spread out ofcourse. And at the same time try to convince your wife to take up a hobby. My wife has gotten into scrapbooking, simple yet effective as I take care of our daughter for a couple of hours while she gets to do her thing. Just an idea.

Thanks for the idea. I currently do have a hobby/career change flying helicopters and now getting my fixed wing rating but its too expensive to do it a lot but it does feel good when I do it. Not much time right now anyway we have a 2 year old and a 10 week old so that takes a lot of time.

  8. Here you go it works every time:

Go up and sit her down and say "Listen bi$ch you need to quit treating me like a "effin child. I want to be treated like the man that I am. I drink and smoke when I want. If you dont like it then you can pack sand cause I am sick of your $hit. Now meet me in the bedroom in 5 with no clothes on or else.

Damn, She kicked me out!!! :o

    Just kidding :)

Thanks for all the words of wisdom guys. I got more replies here than when I posted about Pathfinder stuff. I guess I made it sound worst than it is. I did talk to her but I guess the key is to pick your battles. Sometimes ignore, sometimes fight -argue- , and sometimes just avoid :hide: . Depends on the person I guess but as for me I hate talking about stuff that doesnt get you anywhere. She is going away next week and Im going to enjoy it. I think you guys are right, time apart is key.

  9. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Seems that a few of you arnt married. Are any of you that answered me married? Just curious cause things are different between GF, live in GF and married, I know that from experience. AS for what I was saying her acting like mom she doesnt rule me!! Its not like she says "don't do something" and I don't. Actually the opposite is true but thats when the taking starts. Im a guy with limited word to use per day so sometimes I feel its easier to do things with out her knowledge than to TALK. I was just wondering if this was normal. Ive talked to a few friends who are married and they say it is. My friend always calls me from his Garage because he doesnt want to argue with his wife about drinking too much. I hear about stuff like that

all the time. jj big shoe, I must say I think I agree with you. You must be married ;-)

  10. This is to married people. Lately after having two kids im finding that I think of my wife as mom. She is always telling me what to do and what not to do. If I dont listen then we have to do the dreaded talk which I hate!!! In a few weeks she is going away for a week and I find myself looking forward to it. Like ateenager when his parents leave. Is this normal? I always thought a wife should be someone you get along with and do things togethr not watch my every move and make sure she dont catch me. I have to hide smoking and dinking. Not that I do it that much but If I do I get a lecture or the look. f I cuss or use racial slurs (Im not a racist and a person of color myself) that I grew up using its not allowed. Is this normal?

  11. Alright after much thought and review of thos post I placed the XPLOD amp in the cuppy home under the carpet, I got rid of my original sub amp and just used the XPLOD for everything. One set of channels for the door speakers hooked up in Parallel and the other channel to run two 10" Polk subs in parallel as well. Seems like the amp is 2 ohm stable so I ran it. Sounds pretty good. Bought some cheap boxes and put one on each side and placed the interever screwed on the pass side rear wall. Seats are able to fold down with no problem and the wires are hidden under the carpet. Will post pictures later. Thanks for your input guys.

  12. You should be able to run all your speakers and sub off that 1 amp. Bridge a pair of channels for the sub and wire the other speakers off the other set of channels. Depending on what speakers you are using you would want to wire in parallel or series. Your current draw shouldn't be too much for your speakers to overload the amp but then again it is a Sony.

I assume it is this guy: Sony Amp

Looks like it is 2ohm stable so what is the impedence of all your speakers?

    Thats the one

I have the Infinity refference Series speakers . I think they are 4 ohms. Should I hook them up parallel? (++ --)

  13. Well I decided to get rid of my Kenwood 2 Channel 300 watt Amp that was powering the subwoofers and kept my Sony XPLOD xm-4060gtx 600watt max amp because it fit perfectly in the cubby hole under the carpet. The amps says that it can be used as a 3 channel to power a sub. I know it wont sound as good but im in might late 30s and have to kids so I guess I really dont need to be bumpin as much as I used to. Anyone have any idea on where to hide a sub? I have 2 10" subs but I could probably use one. I was thinking on the passanger side rear compartment. The one with the little door. Does anyone have any other ideas?

XPLORx4 the space for the converter you were talking about, Thats uner the passanger side wheel well? Are you saying it can be hiden inside the cargo area or outside?

Oh does anyone have experience with these amps? Im wondering if I can still run 4 speakers and a subwoofer using 4 channels or should I just use 2 channels for the speakers and the other 2 channels bridged for the sub.

Sorry for all the questions just want to get this doen right.

  14. i WILL CHECK IT OUT. I did the install a few years ago and everything has been behind the rear seat. I have an xplod amp and a kenwood as well as a 1000watt ac converter mounted on the back of the seat I want to fnd a place to hide these things.
