  1. In your opinion, is this a fair price? I'm planning on selling this and buying a newer 2005. Am I too high or too low? Honest opinions please. Thanks guys!

*EDIT*: Also, am I leaving out any options? Im pretty sure I got all of them.

I got almost $11K last November for my '02 LE with an option list exactly the same as yours, except Nav, and I put an OME lift, KYB shocks and struts with 245/70-17 AT's just before I bought it, and my miles were about 100k. Mine was in SoCal, and I had many callers on it. Like yours seems to be, mine was meticulously maintained and in great shape. I'd say your price is good and you can stand pretty firm on it.

  2. So the new wheels are currently being bored out and will be ready next week so the hunt is on for tires. I really dig the BFG A/T's and had a set on my old exploder that went 70,000 miles without rotation. But there's lots of others on the market.

Tirerack has the Firestone Destination A/T's rated as their #1 off-road tire. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? Since she's only 2WD the majority of my off-roading will be high speed desert stuff. They are significantly cheaper then the BFG's but don't look nearly as aggressive. Any help is appreciated.

I have had Destination A/T's in 245/70-17 since March. I am very happy with them. They have seen lots of on-road miles and plenty of off-road miles in the SoCal deserts and mountains. Aired down to 20psi, they are great on washboard or rough trails. Great traction on pavement. Haven't had rain here in forever so I don't know how they will do in mud. I would definitely buy these tires again at this point in their short lives.

They definitely don't look as aggressive as BFG's, but I really don't care as long as they work. I agree with the TireRack ratings for this tire.

  3. So, does the 921, 923, and 928 add 1.75" (as listed on rocky-road) or 0.5" (as listed on ARB chart)? I am aware that rocky-road only sells 921 and 923, i think.

The 923 gave me about 2.25" of lift at first, which has settled to about 1.5". And even enough front to back to avoid the tow-truck look.

  4. i know your sliders look good, saw them over on nico forums.

i do want the front lifted.... i prefer the raked back "socal" lifts vs the stinkbug where the rear is higher than the front

dont care about ride quality, im sure it will be fine, only question is cv axle angle....

I'll be damned. Sure enough, I'm riding on 923's in front from 4x4parts - listed as "Heavy Duty" on the 4x4parts website, but really OME's "Medium Load" per the Old Man Emu website. But I like 'em. Still, pretty lame that they are mis-characterized. You might want to call Old Man Emu directly to get the straight scoop on ride height and CV angle: Toll-free: 1-888-907-4625.

  5. This is great info. Thanks.

Since I don't ever plan on having a winch or heavy bumper and don't necessarily need more lift, what are the advantages of the HD other than more lift?

Considering the HD coils give you more lift, would they make the chance of topping out the struts on speed bumps more likely?

    Thx again,

    Raz

My HD fronts have never topped out. And I've tried. As said above, just get them, you won't regret it.

  6. Hi guys,

I've got a 2001 pathfinder that I'm getting lifted with OME coils, KYB Struts and Rancho 9000XL shocks.

I'm also installing the Warn manual locking hubs and new OEM strut mounts and bearings.

I haven't decided between the OME HD and Medium Duty coils as I'm getting conflicting advice from the ARB tech and various forums.

    Question for you guys:

    1. What are the pros and cons of the HD vs. Medium front OME coil springs?

    2. Do I need strut spacers for either of these?

    3. What are camber alignment kits? Where do I get them and do I need them?

    Thanks,

    Raz

    1. HD's in front will increase the ride stiffness over MD, and will maintain lift better if you have a heavy bumper or winch. I don't have either, but like the way the HD rides. It might keep the front leveled a little better with the HD's I have in the rear, I haven't tried the MD's so I can't say.

    2. No, you don't need strut spacers, but you might want them.

    3. You may be referring to camber bolts. I don't know what they are, I didn't need any. If you do, you can probably get them at your local alignment shop. Or, you can get them at 4x4parts.

  7. Hi guys,

I've got a 2001 Pathfinder but am stuck as to what rating OME coil springs to use on the front.

I know that the HD will level out the vehicle better, but the ARB tech recommended against it unless I have a heavy bumper or winch.

    Question:

    1. Will I require strut spacers for the medium duty OME front coil springs?

    2. Are there any potential problems with the HD springs in terms of alignment, wear on the CV joints etc.?

    Thx,

    Raz

I used the HD coils, no spacers. Alignment was easy, no camber bolts necessary. No problems with the CV joints so far, and I've done a fair bit of OHV use since the "lift." The OME lift settles quite a bit, so I think you avoid some of those issues, even with the HD in front. The rear is just a bit high still, but not really noticeable (the photo below is taken on an uneven surface).

  8. I had the HD coils installed on the front of my '02, with no winch and no bumper. It aligned easily and did not require camber bolts. Only time will tell if I have long-term problems, but so far, so good.

I got about 2" of lift at first, now more like 1.5".

Just an update on this post. After speaking with the guys at ARBusa, the distributors of OME parts, they recommended I NOT get the HD coil springs for this pathfinder unless I am going to put a substantial amount of weight on the front, like a heavy bumper or winch. They said that the HD coils will raise the vehicle too much and cause significant problems with alignment and wear on the tires. Can anyone confirm this?

    Thx,

    Raz

  9. i say just keep them.. its a strut, theres no visible damage, there couldnt have been any internal damage done to the strut because the strap got cut or whatever and went through a cardboard box. Now if the threads are all jacked up because the strut hit something because it was poking through the box..

That's what I figured. Seems like it would take some serious shipping abuse to damage one of these things.

  10. Send them back. What happened was the white strap holding them compressed shifted or snapped while being shipped and the strut was released. Same thing happened to me and they sent me new ones.

Same thing happened to me this week. When I called the shipper, they told me that they are shipped compressed solely to save space, and that being uncompressed for several days should not negatively affect the strut. Is there any other reason, aside from what fleurys said, to return the uncompressed strut?

  11. You can get the OEM ones from a dealership, or through one of the numerous online Nissan Parts sites...

For anyone who has bought the non-KYB strut mounts from a dealership, do you have the parts numbers/SKU? I'm having difficulty figuring out which parts I need, since they seem to be sold in separate components, rather than as a package. Any help appreciated.
