  1. I started the day with intentions of changing out the shocks on my 95. I've had these Rancho 5000's in my garage for about a half a year or so. I presoaked the bolts on the truck with penetrating oil. Proceeded to take off top nut. Seized. Got the grinder out and ground her off. Started taking off bottom bolt. Took a bit to crack it and felt a little stiff when I cranked it. Took a closer look and realized that the bolt was not actually moving, but in fact had bent the support with the nut on it. Realizing this I tried to turn the bolt back in but it wouldn't go. So I took a chance knowing that I might break something and continued. Dang it! I snapped the nut off of the support. So now I have the bolt stuck through the supports and the shock and I am at a loss. I tried to hammer it out. Tried with a bigger hammer even. Still won't budge. It's almost like it is twisted into the rubber bushing or something. I thought about melting the bushing with a torch but seeing as they are gas filled shocks, I didn't think that would go well. Any ideas out there?
  2. Thanks for the input. My suspicions are confirmed. Does anyone have any pics/designs of custom jobs? I am mostly concerned with how to handle the "wrap" around the corners. Ideas anyone? :help:
  3. oh yeah I know that it just an end piece. I was just curious about quality from this supplier.
  4. Has anyone have any experience with this aftermarket bumper stuff... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33640 I am wondering if it is better to go with this or with custom tube job. Thanks in advance.
  5. We are talking miles, right? Not kms?
  6. Easy now, people pay the vet bills and their children get pets and do the same. I know what you mean though. I waited 20 years to get my pup and he is neutered. Kind of felt sorry for him though... It's a guy thing I think. LOL!!
  7. Thanks! The dog is on point in a couple of those pics there. He is an incredibly driven hunter but we don't have a lot of places to hunt birds here so we hunt cats! LOL! Just a poke at the cat people! Seriously though, I don't hunt with him, but I used a lot of the same techniques to train him and use what is called a Kong on a Rope as a "bird". Works great! It's got a little scent pad (sponge) in the center and I put pheasant scent on it. I only take it when we are out and about and play bird hunting "games" with it. Oh yeah, I am in Canada, eh! Just north of the good folks in Washington State. A small part of the "City" of Surrey called Cloverdale.
  8. And now that I think I've figured this out, a pic of my pup...
  9. A little late perhaps? Further to my story earlier in this thread, I found this pic...
  10. Not with a German Shorthaired Pointer!! They got no fur man! They are bred for upland bird hunting not retrieving ducks. If you are not careful, they will become water shy.
  11. I have a GSP as well. How old is yours? Mine is 2 and will go anywhere for birds. I have introduced a few of these dogs to water and the method I use is... First of all, the water should be warm. It helps if the dog is young. Take pup out and play on land for a while. Then go down to waters edge and let pup sniff around. Pick up pup and wade into water until you are about as deep as the dogs elbows. Point pup to shore, put him/her down and just let it go to shore. Let it run around some more and then repeat. Gradually go out deeper until finally, the dog has to swim a bit. But always point to shore. Before you know it you will have a dog that will go in no problem. The key is to build confidence and not let the dog have a bad experience. Hope this helps.
  12. Almost hate to admit it, but yeah. But going for Calgary now... Vancouver area, yes. Cloverdale to be exact. Home of the Cloverdale Rodeo. This weekend! Yeehaw!!
