My name is not Aaron, but I don't fit into any of those groups either.

You need a whole new category for people that did install tranny coolers, but that still had transmission problems.  I'm beginning to think that the automatic transmissions on these usnits just stunk.

I installed a tranny cooler at 95,000 miles and at 111,000 miles the Torque Converter was stripped.  After a shabby repair and a rapid fluid evacuation, my Tranny burnt up.

My life sucks -alcohol-

I'm not surprised it failed, even with an add-on cooler. It all boils down to proper maintenance from the time it is new until today. If is has been neglected until you buy it and then you do a bunch of work on it, it may still die just like yours and mine did. There's no magical fixing properties in installing a cooler and changing the fluid on an old neglected transmission.

Well, thats about as inteligently as I can break it down right now. Please vote and feel free to post caviots, it may flavor the empirical data... Thanks !

Lost 1st gear at about 130k,that nasty sound coming from the synchros(possibly?)sound like the steps of a dead man walking.and the shifter feels like I'm rowing through mash potatoes!I think I'm in a race between my wallet and a rebuilt tranny.

'96 R50, purchased in 02 with 55k, now 189k on the clock. MT died at 179k due to bearing failure. $320 to rebuild. Resurfaced flywheel at failure. First clutch at 140k and it still had life left.
