DavefromOZ
My very first car was one of these, it was a white 2 door Mazda 1300, I paid $500 for it. When the body rusted out I bought a green 4 door non runner for $350 and swapped the engine & tranny over, I drove those things for 7 years total, only thing I had to do was a head gasket. It was my dads before mine, but I can't count how many trips to montreal that thing made. Last trip it did was to tremblant in 2005. It was a classy ride, fully loaded! 180sx
This isn't my pic, but my first car looked EXACTLY like this one. 1983 Mazda RX-7 GSL. Loved that damn car. I was 15 when I bought it for $200. Had a blown motor, but the body was immaculate. Tore the motor out (litterally just picked it up. these rotories don't weigh anything naked). I've owned probably 6 Old RX-7's. I have a '93 R1 RX-7 now (blown motor, haha). Bad ass little cars. I'm current;y looking for another 83 GSL, so if you know anyone who has one...and it has to be an 83 GSL. not an 82, or 84 (although I will consider an 84-85 GSL-SE). nismothunder
My first car was this 72 Nova 350/350 with Cragar SST wheels. My,My that is my favrite car...it was what My dad and me where looking for when I got my impala(65) we couldnt find a nice one for less then 5k and after we lost out on a 1970 ss model(real SS not a clone) for 3500 we settled on the 800 dollar imp.Did I meanthing that the 70 was a for speed car with front discs and all the opions and being a monster engine(corvette 1971 lt1)the guy even had the orignal engine block(l34 I think? just a 350) and it wasnt rotted out.Now I gotta get pics of my half ass impala up on this site.Did I mention I've never even driven my impala above 50mph or with a legal liceance, since I got it when I was 12 or 13. And also I do know where there is a 1985 mazda Rx-7...I dont know what it is but it has a 5 spd,is silver, sun roof, nice body and sun killed interior. Its been around my area for a while,I talked to the guy who was selling it and looked at it and it had new gator backs on it.I say it at a lot about a week ago with bald gators on it for 100 bucks more then the guy was asking. If you want me to look into it more I will. My buddy's got a mint '89, JDM turbo swap... It's got some pep to say the least.
180sx
I'm a rotor head to the fullest. i can rebuild one of them with my eyes closed! an 89 with JDM turbo swap? Yummi....S5 FTW! I've never owned a 2nd gen, and i don't know why (money has to be it, damn drifting craze and Initial D!!). I want a 91 Turbo II so badly! A guy offered me his black one to trade for my 93, even with the blown motor. Had to say no, biggest reason being it was a drop-top model. No no, need a hard top (thats why i havent got one! all i see is drop tops and targa tops!). Bummer.... second faveorite car (and the 2nd to last one i had before the pathy) was my 91 Ford Escort GT. Bad ass car. And not a single Ford part in it (its a rebadged Mazda 323F). That car was so cool. I was gonna throw on the JDM 323GT turbo on it, but alas it got stolen, stripped, burned and thrown off a cliff. What a crazy end!
tekazgtr1984
Yes indeed. Rotaries are extremely cool while being relatively simple compared to a traditional engine! I wish Nissan would have kept its rotary division alive... Oh well. A couple years back, I looked at a '91 drop-top with a series 5 JDM 13B and a Turbo II hood, cherry red w/ black Mazdaspeed leather. It was nice but the seller was asking way too much ($9,900) and wouldn't budge. I still wouldn't mind finding a nice FC, or even a FD... Something about a 13B redlining to 8,000RPM is just so badass.
