varn
Okay, So I'm ready to do an oil change on my 2002 with a 3.5. The diagram in the manual indicates to turn the oil drain plug *clockwise* to remove it. what the.... Then for the 3.2, it indicates to turn the bolt *counter clockwise* to remove the oil drain plug. And to boot, the sucker is on real tight, so I'm afraid I'm gonna strip it either way I push it. So, for the 3.5 on a 2002, which way do you turn it to remove it? Thanks. revgolem
definatly "lefty-loosie, righty-tighty"... the only things that even MIGHT be reverse threaded are things like pully bolts that would have a tendency to spin loose normally.

Flyer
Counter-clockwise- 100%. I have never loosened something by going clockwise except for bike pedals on the left side, I believe.
FUELER
u need a huge breaker bar and go clockwise
RedPath88
u need a huge breaker bar and go clockwise That will get it loose... one way or another However, I would agree with counter-clockwise... don't know of any reverse threaded oil drain plugs.... I mean, why would it be that way, there is no need for it to be non-standard Edited January 22, 2006 by RedPath88
