Procrastinational
Hey guys. I got my winter tires swapped out today, and when I got home, after unloading my winter tires (while parked downhill for a little while), I noticed some oil on the driveway. I took a look underneath, and there is what looks like a drain of some sort missing the cap. There is some oil in the area as well. I took some pictures and I'm hoping you guys can tell me what it is, and whether there is anything missing. It is roughly in line with the front attachment points of the running boards. Btw I have a manual transmission if that makes any difference. It looks like there is still a bolt in there. Maybe it's just loose? Is a bit of oozing normal? Here are the pictures: Edited March 7, 2016 by Procrastinational
5523Pathfinder
That's the drain plug for your manual transmission. It's leaking due to either being loose or no sealer on the threads after it was last serviced. Has the fluid been changed recently?
Slartibartfast
In the second pic from the bottom I'm seeing an oil blotch not connected to the rest. Makes me wonder if the oil is coming from somewhere else.
Terranovation
I would drain it, degrease everything around that area then put some plumbing tape on the threads of the bolt, not too much just a couple of wraps, screw it back in then refill. I think that drain nut is leaking and needs some thread tape. Edited March 11, 2016 by Terranovation
adamzan
Looks like your rear main seal is leaking as well.
