Anyone know what broke off here?

Was working on the steering pump and while taking the belt off I noticed something seems to have broken off a casted part underneath the pulleys.. thoughts on what it was? It would appear I have a slow oil leak running to that point as well judging by the small drip forming..

I'm pretty sure that is a weep hole, from the bottom timing cover? I'll look tomorrow when it is warm and light.

I'd guess a crank seal leak, unless you have a bad cam seal leak.

Make sure to change that front main seal while you're in there. The only extra thing you'll have to do is pull the crank gear off which is easy with a screwdriver. The seal itself takes 2 minutes to change and costs like 5 bucks....Do the cam seals too.

I broke that too. Its what holds the last screw for the timing belt cover under the harmonic balance. Its the only one that uses a shorter stew. If you put the longer bolt in & tighten your harmonic balance down, snap goes the metal. I like to think it helps oil & debris to was out from around the timing belt now ;)
