I'm checking off other minor items...roof rack is on the list, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Local builder here on craigslist that I'm going to check out.

I may need to have the tire carrier rebuilt, so might get one built at that time....dunno.

Discountramps.com has some pretty decent deals, look on Amazon too. Depends on the style, what's your price range? Do you want the basket kind, or Yakima style?

Amazon had the best deal when I was searching for the best price on my Rola.It is a nice HD rack and they offer an extension if you want it longer? They are $109 plus they want $29.95 shipping still a good price.

I'm wondering about the lighter racks. (Rola, Thule, Curt)

My plan is to load it down and mount a pull-out canopy, so I wonder if they're durable enough and will carry the weight.

I'm pretty certain the Rola will work, Stioc has a canopy on his with no issues so far as I know.

I meant to ask him, but I haven't been at my regular place of work, so don't have the explorer link and pw. :/

I think that Rola with extension is well over $200 when it's not on sale.

Nice rack! Does that curt rack have the extension on it? Do you have a picture from the side view of the truck? It's hard to see how long the rack is in those pictures.

You can see the extension in the 1st pic. The center 1/3 of the rack. (I was looking at this rack for a while....have decided on steel, so I can weld on mounts/tabs/etc. myself)

How is it mounted so low to the roof?

If you care more about beef than weight than a surplus gypsy rack is a really good fit for the pathy. I found one at a surplus store for $125 and I think the roof will cave in before that rack does. I'll try and get a picture of it this week. It probably weights 75 to 100 lbs after some light modification which is a lot of weight up top but worth it to be able to walk on / sleep on / hang hammocks from your roof basket. Mounting is a custom job for sure though.
