Is there any threads open to replace starters? My pathy starter died on me when i went to leave school today. Was curious of the best way to get it out. It doesn't look easy at all.

I remember seeing a few threads, but I don't remember enough about them to find them again. And yes, you're in for a bad time. I don't remember the exact procedure, but IIRC you have to pull the oil filter and detach the little heat shield hooked to the starter to get it past the transmission lines (if you've got an automatic). Don't worry if you bugger the shield, mine hasn't had one for quite a while and nothing's burned up.

Make sure you put the oil filter back on before restarting it! It's surprising how quick an engine pukes oil onto the driveway.

Could be your power or ground cable contacts at the battery, starter, frame and chassis as well.

Yes, there are a few threads on taking it out. Mosp people agree that the best way is to pull it straight out the frontclocking it to get it by some lines and wires. I think there is a thread in the Garage/How To section, otherwise a brief search will bring them up.

Sorry for the late reply, but it was the starter. The old starter would crank slowly at times like the battery was dying, and took longer to start. I replaced it and it is up and running again. The starter i got from Autozone has a nice lifetime warranty for as long as I own the truck so I will be set
