Depends what you call cool, I guess, but on that side of the Sierra Nevada range you have a lot of high desert wheeling and on the west side you have plenty of mountain wheeling with lakes and rivers if you fish. Casinos and Hot August Nights is a big deal to many in the area and you are just a short drive from Burning Man. I live on the NorCal coast and am familiar with the area, but not like a local.
