What did you do to your Pathfinder today?

Replaced the window motor on the driver window. The motor was actually working fine, but the rubber damper that couples the gear to the drive shaft was destroyed. Luckily I had a spare rear door to pull the motor from. I also used the opportunity to replace the speaker in that door. I replaced the other side over a year ago, but never got around to the driver side. FYI - the motor from the rear driver door has the correct mounting and connector, but the polarity is reversed.

Watched it get rained on with the sunroof open.

My front fluid pump went out a while back, but I just popped it open, cleaned it out, polished the commutator, oiled the bushings, and put it back into service. It's worked pretty well since. The fluid gets into the bushings after a while and seizes them up, but it's nothing a little machine oil, sandpaper, and brute force can't fix. (If you can't find a new pump, why not hack in one from something else? Just change over the plug and you should be fine.)

Didn't actually do anything to it today, but take advantage of running my stock wheels to put my duratracs onto stock Toyota 4runner aluminium rims, saved about 7lbs per tire. Bought a bunch of impact sockets as well

I didn't do it today, but I replaced all the link bushings in the rear end with poly split ones. I did it at a friend's shop w/ a lift and it still whupped me. Maybe I did it the hard way or maybe I'm getting old and feeble but I don't think it's a job I'd try to tackle in the driveway. I used a 60,000lb press and an acetylene torch to get the old ones out and had to use a come-along to shift the axle around a few times to get the links lined back up. Lotsa work but she's smooth and predictable over railroad crossings now, no more wandering.

I've got all new inner and outer TRE's ready to go in once my creaking joints and ruptured muscles heal up.

I don't understand why people use high mileage oil, I have never once used it and have 365,000k with no oil burning or leaking  . I think its a gimmick. And it never stopped my friends car from losing oil lol.

What do they put in high mileage oil anyway? I run 20w-50 in my car (not my pathy) because otherwise it burns oil like crazy. I figure I'm just stopping the burning and sacrificing the engine, but I don't think I'm going to reinsure it when it expires this month so...

'Special conditioners' to help keep your seals from drying out or failing prematurely.

I ran High Mileage once in my F-150, didnt notice it do anything special so I went back to regular Amsoil.

Results may vary though, I certainly dont have the testing to verify its snake oil by any means.

Generally, high mileage oils contain a more robust additive package (more detergents, etc) than their "normal" equivalent. Some have had luck with high-mileage oils and they may take a few oil changes to have any affect. I've read of situations where a particular brand of high-mileage oil did nothing for a leak, but then a different brand slowed it. HM oils are usually on the thicker side of their grade as well (so a 30wt oil would be barely below a 40wt oil before shearing). I'd imagine HM oil is intended for smaller leaks; if your engine burns a quart every 200 miles HM oil ain't gonna help.

I stole an idea from nunya and painted my corner lights. I am going to paint the grill too just as soon as I get more paint. I used Duplicolor Perfect match champagne pearl. It is almost the same color.

another week of vacation and finally I am dedicated to fix the pathy that is in need..

so, yesterday : remove the drums, grinded the rust and repainted. changed all the springs with new ones and put some anti-seized where the shoes rub. looks good at the back now.

Removed my rock sliders and brought them to be sandblasted and galvanized. Eventhough they never touched the trail (I have hdpe plastic for the rubbing part), they rusted everywhere... So I hesitated between powder coated and galvanize. I followed my welder advice.. Since galvanize is a process where the parts gets dipped into the liquid, the advantage is that it will be protected inside and out... pictures to come.

today : dismantled the hub and rotor. removed the inner and outer bearings with grease seal. The bearing races are a little marked, so I will be changing them... just need to figure out the best way to do this... first time for me...

more to come...

Thought about putting my "bike rack" on... Didn't feel like digging it kit from under the Escort. Then thought about stopping for gas on my way to work... Meh, maby later. Wondered if I put my windows up when it started to rain... refilled my coffee cup instead. Thought again on my way home abou stopping for gas... Tomorrows another day and it's downhill TO work. So in other words... Not a thing. Wonder if my windows are up now actually... I can see my sunroof and wings are open from here. Temperatures too nice inside to check.

Well since I can't find another Carello light for my grille I will have to start looking for a truck grille and some truck corner lights, and I need to get the exterra roof rack installed so I can take it back off to paint it, once I decide what color it will be.

Worst transmission I have ever pulled, clutch was toast around the input shaft and wouldnt let go. Had to hook a come along to my hitch and keep pressure on it while I wiggled and hit it with a hammer. Also, wish I knew about the sensor on top of the bellhousing... ohwell just need to fix it now also.
