jgt
if a starter relay is bad, would it cause this problem? turns over strong and tries to crank but won't start. Will have to try many times and it'll finally start. I just got the a/c relay fixed on my toyota (interminent warm air blowing and they said it was a relay) Starts great 98% of the time, but wondering if a relay can act up like this? Or does it just not turn over if the relay is bad? thanks
Kingman
I would think that if the starter relay is bad the starter would not function at all. I would look into other things being the problem.

unccpathfinder
if a relay is bad it will either be on all the time or not at all so either the starter would go till the battery was dead or it wouldn't turn over at all...sounds like it could be an ignition problem like a wearing cap, rotor, plug, plugwire or coil and once it catches and the engine is (warm) the heat assists in easier combustion but that would just be a WAG (wild ass guess) and probably not the solution
