What else do you drive?

Well, I drive a 91 Ford Escort GT, which, chassis, and drivetrain are from Mazda, so I don't even know why it's called a Ford. Anyways, here is a link to my Cardomain page, http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3868180/1991-ford-escort-gt-hatchback-2d I'm up for any feedback, just no "My civic will stomp your escort" because I don't race it. The only time I got competitive with it, I held a WS6 Trans am til 3rd gear. That's an achievement all in its own, since my car only has 170hp/200ftlbs

Ill attest for the Escort power. My buddy has a 99 or 00 escort coupe 5 speed with the 2.0 litre mazda engine...thing f$#$ing moves for a 4 banger! Low clutch too. We've pushed it to about 100mph or so...hes on the 3rd tranny though after disinegrating the first one and locking the second one up in 3rd gear. lol

Bank robbers getaway car style escort! Buddha dad used to have one of them GTs in that bright azz ford blue, had one friend use one as a pizza delivery car for a while (tan 4 door-non GT) his younger brother still drives that car today, I used one as an enduro car once (also a 4door non GT, I didn't finish) and our "spare car" is a 98 sedan (the kart)... Actually gotta dig that thing out... Tags have been up on it for a good 6months...

Won't work ironically, My car is built off a Mazda Chassis, as are the 3rd gens, but moreso, look at a 1st generation Mazda Protege sideview, and look at a 2nd gen Escort sideview. Essentially the same car: Same chassis, same suspension, same rotors, same everything! MINUS aesthetics, and the SOHC engines (Ford got the Ford Derived 1.9 and 2.0 CVH design) and Mazda got the SOHC and DOHC 1.8L displacement engines.

^^ yup, and smashing on V8's isn't even that great of a feat. Stock vs stock, acura GSR's break off mustang 5.0's no problem.

Beating a 4.9 liter v8 stang is a feat? Since when, since I've beaten a few in a true five OOhh chevy.

The Pathy is my wife's ride. My DD is a '99 Ford F150 Lightning. Perfomance of a sportscar and still able to tow and haul stuff. Mods include a +4 lb lower pulley, some intake work, flowmaster muffler with stainless steel tips, Predator tune, and traction bars. It puts down a little over 400hp and 550ft lbs of torque to the ground, which makes for a fun and smokey ride.

No garage queen here. One of our favorite places to camp requires going across a small water crossing.

Envious of you I am. Only downfall with the lightnings that I noticed: Not 4wd, and they should have put the 5.4l DOHC with a blower in it, instead of the SOHC with a blower. All in all, I would still love to have one.

What's really cool is the motor in the Ford GT super car is essentially the same motor as in a Lightening.

Yeah, the GT is a bad dude. There was one on Battle of the Supercars a while back that was modded by Hennessey. They added a twin turbo setup to the supercharged 5.4 and it made around 1000hp. I would love to get my hands on one of those.

Well,, not really. It IS a 5.4L, but it's the same truck engine that's in the Lariat and King Ranch, it just has a blower on it. The 99-03 Lightning are the same 16V SOHC engines. I was a service tech at the Ford Dealership in town here for a while, I got to see some mighty impressive ones. There was one that rolled in that was making ~1k hp on the same engine but his intake valves were ported so much, they near about touched the E-valves :P All in all, they are great trucks because they have lots of get up and go, and are useful for hauling stuff too.

Had to double check my facts before I corrected anyone, Lightning wiki

The 5.4 is a good motor, I got a 02 with one it was the truck 5.4 too, it only made 260hp and 350lbs but it made it below 4k unlike the newer models that make 300 at 38-4200 or so.

There good engines but pound for pound non blown ones pale compaired to the older 5.8's for torque.
