flatened lifters?

so my 92 has about 210,000 miles on it and i only had it about 2 months but is it common for the lifters to go flat and be noisy at this mileage? ive seen a few other posts bout this but just wondering if im alone here...

well my 1990 has 246,000+ miles and especially during warm up / the first few miles, the valves are kinda noisey and I am told its pretty typical, and my engine is the original, never rebuilt.

 

The valves are hydraulic so with this kind of age, they can bleed down faster and once the oil fully circulates and engine is at normal operating temp...it runs considerably quieter.

 

the noise doesnt effect the performance .... it still runs perfectly and doesnt smoke or consume oil. It's just a bit annoying to hear.

No, it's not common for lifters to go flat.

 

IIRC there was a recall on 92's ONLY regarding valve seats...hmm.

 

Could also be exhaust leaks at the manifolds. Check into that.

I'm also over 210k on my 89. I use 1qt lucas oil every change, it keeps them quiet until about the time I need 2 change it again.

well i had 285,000 klm's on mine and they made a tick sound untill they warmed up, anoying as hell, i replaced them and the problem solved, just one of those things i guess with this engine that seems to be a achilies heal.
