nunya Posted September 3, 2008 Share Posted September 3, 2008 In my 88 manuel it sais about 1 of the id plates having what looks to be all letter designations. Doesn't say which one though but looks like 4th to the last character should be x=standard/blank=e/j=xe/p=se. I will try looking for it on mine tomorow when I have daylight if someone else doesn't know better, being curious myself honestly since mine is a colaberation of multipule trucks. Some have SEs with manual windows and some have XEs with power...stuff like that. Unless you are looking to rebadge your truck with factory stickers, don't worry about it. Red87Path Posted September 5, 2008 Author Share Posted September 5, 2008 nah, my father in law has been researching my truck , looking at the library in mitchell manuals for clues to get my truck running and asked me if i knew wich it was, as of now i still have no idea, or how it pertains to the problems with my truck. but it would be nice to know wich I have. If not, do so, it is in the Garage section towards the top I believe... 2) I seriously doubt that whatever is keeping your truck from running is related to the trim levels. If you really have the quest for knowledge, PM akorahill (I think thats how it is spelled) and politely ask him to look up your VIN. There is another guy who can do it, I'll have to find his login... GrimGreg Posted September 5, 2008 Share Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) as far as mechanical, there weren't any real changes between trims, unless it was a cheap early one with a 4cylinder, or a 2wd with no T-case they were all V6 with either a manual or automatic all of which held the same basic part numbers throughout production. Only other mechanical variance was to do with the rear end and that wasn't trim based either (disc/drum, LSD/open). The main differences were between years, not trims.
