Sometimes when I go wheelin, I bring a shovel... I dunno if that sounds dumb or not but its already worked once.  It works well to dig out ruts when you get stuck, I know a couple instances when my friends got stuck and we could've gotten out within minutes had we had a shovel (stuck across comparatively-dry ruts).

Having some water and food with you is also usually a good idea... if you get stuck and have to sit waiting for someone to pull you out its always a good idea to have something to eat/drink on you.

The military has a wonderful tri-folding shovel that has its own plastic case. It takes up very little room. I keep one in all of my vehicles. It can also be used as a pick.

:aok: I agree with all of the items listed. I keep one of those big plastic boxes with a clamp on lid in my vehicles. My wife calls it my "dooms day box". The Glock stays on my side. However I do have something that I haven't seen yet. I call it my car pool partner. Glock is there to get me to my carpool partner. A Rem. 870 with a Knoxx Folder and side siddle featuring 00! :)

I havent got one yet, but they mount on the stock tire carrier. So room isn't really a problem.

Have you any idea where to get the hardware required to mount a hi-lift on the rear tire-carrier or any pics of one of these mounting systems so that i could build one?

So....

I have to ask, is there any concern for heat causing an internally mounted fire extinguiser?

What about a gas can mounte don the back like I have sen on a few trucks?

I have always wondered.....

So with ALL THAT stuff on your lists... what do you store it all in?

I picked this .50 caliber military ammo box up. i cant fit the hilift, or the big stuff in it, but its water tight!

I'm still looking for a way to attach it to the deck of the pathy. somekind of lockable rail system(theft is way bad in vancouver).

That way i can leave it at home when im using my truck locally.

I'm currently looking at somekind of U Channel rail, but haven't decided yet.

cheers!

:itsallgood:

What do you guys always carry with you in your trucks? I have a very dismal list that includes jumpers, bungies, ratchet straps, bottle of oil, flashlight, flares, a flat tire kit and a mini air compressor. I plan to do some major mods this summer and do A LOT more wheeling...what else should I have?

I notice that Ben mentioned a shovel. He is correct in telling you this. Try to find one from an ARMY/NAVY strore. thet have the best military stlye folding shovels you can get at a good price. Also might I sugest looking into a new jack, the factory one are ok, but they suck when it comes to offroad. JC Whitney may carriy some. Also, one other thing. You definitely need to add a First Aid Kit to that list. Good Luck. Nice Screen Shot.
