Inside door handle; can it be modified?

Maybe I'm a little a N a l, but is there a way to open a locked pathy door by modifying the inside door handle? As we all know, if you pull on the inside handle when the door is locked, you must unlock the door first before exiting. Most vehicles you can unlock from the inside by pulling on the handle.

Just a thought - no flames, please...

According to the Association of Accident Reconstruction and the Society of Automotive Engineers, only about 10% of drivers without automatically locking doors lock their doors.

It has everything to do with being in an accident. I am an Accident Reconstruction Engineer and Crash Test Specialist. It is a proven fact that cars that are involved in an accident are much more likely to have doors open when they are unlocked than when they are locked. When a door comes open, it provides a huge open area for a passenger to be ejected, restrained or not.

A side benefit to that is that the doors cannot be unintentionally opened while driving down the road if the driver or passenger is fumbling around with the door handle.

No matter the reason for door handles that don't automatically unlock when you pull them, I don't think it can't be done easily. There are 2 rods from the door handle to the lock cylinder and latch- one rod operates the lock cylinder, the other operates the latch. You would somehow have to force the lock-cylinder rod move whenever the latch rod moves, but not vice-versa.

Humm, I work at a factory that makes door panels for nissan. I made the body style altima that you see on the street now, and I make the 07 which I still havent seen yet. I know that they dont offer them in Japan and all but their doors open how this guy wants them to. My idea on how to do it would be easy and the same way that they they do it on the altima (well in a way, the altima doors are designed to do it and you would have to modify it in a similar way). What you want to do is cut a small gruve in the back side of the lock lever. Make it line up with some kind of small metal dow or something like a long screw or something strong so it will not break off and have that in the handle part so when you pull on the door handle it brings the lock into the unlocked position along with it. I can steal a handle and show you what I mean with a vid if you dont get the point. well actually i guess the best thing you could do is go to a nissan stealer and look at a altima handle in a car. Look and see for yourself
