turbopath
ok, so to the right of the engine and a little north of the intake box there is a little hitachi boost sensor. What is it for? For some reason I thought that R50's only used the maf for a/f calculations. I was originally assuming it was some kind of brake boost sensor or something, but it has metal lines that go to the intake manifold. Could someone clue me in on this thing? MAP and MAF could complicate things a little for me. Edited August 15, 2006 by turbopath
4x4le
I do believe that they use maf as well as map and take the average, but it will not work properly with the maf disconnected. It goes into a safe mode and wont rev much and dies out easy.
turbopath
From my understanding a MAF equipped vehicle gets better emissions and control at lower rpms and part throttle conditions. Once it goes wot a map system works better. So I'm guessing there is a switchover point somewhere where the computer pays more attention to map. Good idea on nissan's part. Now to see what it does when pressure is applied...I hope it doesn't freak out and do something stupid.
