  1. i have a 1995 nissan pathfinder that i have driven since around 2016. in fall 2017 the engine blew out so we replaced it with another motor, the same v6 the truck would have been sold with. has a new oil pan but mechanics left the dip stick in when replacing it so now it is stuck. this would be an easy fix as simple as dropping the pan and pulling the dip stick out. brand new AC compressor, brand new AC blower, an ehhhhh job on the speakers because i did them myself without much knowledge. one of my front wheels today however began making grinding noises which lead to a thump as i drove, almost rhythmically. im thinking its the hubs but im not a mechanic. the interior however is in great condition minus a small tear on a piece of the drivers side door armrest. The first engine blew at about 170,000 miles and the truck currently reads 210,000 miles with the new engine. the pant is okay its a bit faded in some areas and has had some quick touch ups that are noticeable up close. chips on the front of the hood. this has always been a work truck even for the original owner before me. ive driven this for food delivery since spring 2017. pictures for context https://imgur.com/a/vmeMdlo
  2. Hello everyone ? I siezed the engine in my 01 pathfinder. It has a 5 speed manual transmission and 4x4. I purchased a 96 pathfinder as a donor vehicle.. as the were both R50's. *?* I was wondering if there is anyway a person would be able to swap a VG33E onto a VQ35DE 5 speed manual transmission? Or the best place to look for an Adapter-kit?
  3. So I have a 1990 Nissan Pathfinder and the motor is knocking horribly after 352 thousand miles. I heard alot about a VG33 swap to make moar power but I'm unsure as what to swap over. I know everything would connect up and I know the cams from the 30 need to go in the 33 for moar lift and moar power. What else do I need to swap over? I do not wanna get it rebuilt or anything as long as the thing runs. I dont got that money. In regards to the engine swap, What do I need to unbolt from the engine/disconnect. Its a manual 4x4. The list is this so far Fuel return and feed line Witing harness Sensors 13 bolts on transmission Drain and disconnect radiator AC I'm getting rid of Engine mounts Exhaust headers Anything else? Or should I go with another 3.0 and turbo it after everything is complete. Im honestly unsure of what to do. I want to keep my Pathy running for as long as possible.
  4. So I haven't seen much in the light of swapping in a Toyota 4.0L V8 1UZFE VVTI into our R50s and so I went ahead and did a metric fskcton of research about both the VQ35DE VVTI and the 1UZFE VVTI, to get dimensions and measurements for both engines and their mounting positions. This made the process way easier after finding and buying said Toyota engine locally for $200us and so far it looks like the motor mounts for the engine as almost identical and in the damn near same locations with the distance of both engines keeping the same space from the back of the engines to the firewall the same. But obviously the only way the v8 would fit without issue is to delete the clutch fan and installing dual electric fans on the radiator (which I wanted to do anyway) which isn't a big deal anyway BUT the two radiators are pretty different which is fine because A I could either adapter some coolant hoses or B find a radiator that would work with the space of the pathfinder radiator space (I haven't done much in the way of measurements or research on this) or C have a custom built aluminum performance radiator (too expensive probably) which would be nice but ideally not what I'd want to do since my truck build is budget minded for the most part. Another nice thing is that XAT makes a bell housing adapter plate to run the SR/KA 5 speed transmissions but I have also found out the the older KA24E 5 speed 4x4 transmissions might work perfectly with their adapters but I don't know what the towing capability would be with those transmissions (since I do tow with this truck) as I can't find any info on that. So my first question is for you manual transmission off roaders out there is, how is it out on the trails with a manual trans, because mine is an auto and so far I love it for off road but this 4 speed trans isn't great for highway driving because it just drags down the fuel economy hence the idea/plan for the manual/engine swap.
  5. So I bought a rejected and abandoned WD21 Pathfinder in May and I named him Tanner. Tanner has been through hell and highwaters when it comes to everything since he had 345 thousand miles on him when I bought him. He is my first car ever and I love the truck to death. But recently I was on my way to pick up my girlfriend and Tanner broke down. Hard. As I was going uphill he started backfiring so badly (sounded like Anti Lag or two step loud) and I lost all power. I tried turning him over and all he did was backfire I managed to back my way partially downhill and spin him around. I did and I popped the clutch and he fired right back up but as soon as I stepped on the gas, boom dead. I found out that my distributor was gone and I thought it initially was the timing belt. I replaced the timing belt and distributor but the sad thing is, none of it fixed him. He's been sitting in the apartment complex I live in for two weeks now and already inpounded once. I am so desperate for help right now. I got a mobile mechanic to come look at it and he almost ran after I corrected distributor wiring but he didn't. I want my pathy back and running as when I do, I plan on giving him to my girlfriend as her first car. I need help on what to do. I wanna swap a supercharged VG33 into it from an Xterra to make more power. I know it may sound silly of me to want to keep him running but he holds special value since he's my first car, first stickshift I ever drove, first car my girlfriend ever drove, and it conquered Devil's Canyon on mount Evans forwtbtey no problem with an offroading noob. I wouldn't care of he died at 200K but 350K is honerable and he deserves to keep living as he also has zero rust on the chassis's. Thanks for anybody reading this post.
