I'm poking around in Yarmouth!

OK, after being drug to Nova Scotia by my "other half", I am in the Annapolis Valley and I am hoping to hunt down some Pathy owners and get some movement out here...or I will go NUTS playing in the woods with Jeeps, etc. If anyone is out here, just reply. PLEASE!!!

What exactly did you get from the hardware store? 14 is a lot better than 65!!!
I used a heavy duty gate hinge (1/4" plate) and just cut the hoop off of it that held the hinge pin and drilled 2 holes that lined up with the Idler Arm bolts...I had to use longer bolts for the Idler Arm, which I had kicking around the garage. For the Centerlink mount, I used an angle bracket for the gate hardware (3/16" thick), but it was a 6" bracket, so I just cut off what I needed and then used (2)- 1 1/4" U-bolts I found in the gate hardware section as well. All parts totaled $14.61. I took a suggestion from the forum and bent the OEM bracket as flush as I could to the new centerlink and had my son run the steering wheel, while I was underneath checking and adjusting the clearances, etc. I had to make one adjustment after, as I had the bracket on the Centerlink too far to the drivers side and it caused the shock to top out, so I moved it an inch or so and all is good. HUGE difference in how the truck handles now!

As you can see, the brand new pin is still there for the OEM stabilizer so if anyone needs it, I can take it off for them :-) I used 14 bucks in hardware from Rona, all from the gate section. considering the Rancho kit costs 65 bucks, I figured since everything else on my truck is fabricated, I might as well do this too!

Thanks for the replies guys! I went to the hardware store today and spent $14 bucks and now have it mounted. I will post pics of the work once I transfer them off my Blackberry. There were a few tweaks (just adjusting to make sure it didn't bind on extension of compression, but all went well and what a HUGE difference in how the truck handles on the front end!

Anyone install the Rancho RS5000 Dampener without buying the $65.00 kit? I bought the Dampener, but not the kit and want to know if anyone has pics of their install or suggestions on location of the brackets, etc...

to load on Saturday Morning. I think I will just go to Stittsville early and get some grub at the Loblaws; BACON, eggs, bread, blah blah blah, BACON! I am only gonna have to move one box to sleep in the back. I am SO stoked ! -

Steph and I were thinking to just "fend for yourself" kinda deal...at least for the snacks and stuff...Unless a couple people nominate themselves to bring one item, like eggs, bacon, bread, coffee/tea, etc. I can raid the fridge at work and get a bunch of creamers and sugar pouches :coffee!: I know Adam has a propane cookstove we can use to heat water for coffee. I have a kettle for heating water, but if someone has another, it might be a good plan to bring a couple extras. I also have a huge cooler I can bring to store all the perishables in as well. Any other suggestions on who should bring what?

Was a good meet I think. Got a lot of work done.
Might just do it again next weekend for those that missed it this weekend.
Damn I wish I was able to make it today Northern... But by the time my wife got her ass outta bed and then she had to go to work today. She didn't get home until 2:30 and then the obligatory "family dinner" we have on the weekends...I hope there will be another next weekend! I did get alot done to my truck today, here at home, but there is a couple things that I would like to finish (skid plate for Y-Pipe for one!).

Does anyone in the Ottawa area have any experience with broken stud removal/header install? I'd be willing to travel up there one weekend if Northern could free up his shop and someone gives me a hand...beer and food on me all weekend of course. Just an idea, let me know what you guys think...

You are more than welcome to come down on a prearranged weekend to work on the headers, etc. I have removed 4 or 5 manifolds of Pathfinders and many other vehicles as well
I have removed quite a few broken studs too! I am sure we could figure out the headers as wellI know magregor here has done it. He can give you a few pointers! Also I'm sure we could find a weekend to help you out!
Us O'Town members are always willing to help out in anyway we can

Thanks ALOT for the generous offer Northern! I may be doing a roofing job this weekend if the weather holds up, so I have some cash for the trip and a treat for the wife to be fair
. I may be able to come down if the weather doesn't agree with being on a bare roof! I think the only thing I was pondering, was to find some way to add a couple inches of height in the rear suspension, as I bumped up my front torsion bars tonight to level the truck out, as it was diving a bit in the front passenger side. The trip last weekend took a bit of a beating on my new exhaust, but no leaks! SO I was also thinking of making a skid plate to protect the Y-Pipe as well. I have some steel for that

duh....forgot one thing... I assumed it was near ottawa...but can someone give a google map point that would be near....(no need to show the trail entrance)..so i can evaluate the time to get there...
Best place to search for (where we all met last year) is Pakenham, Ontario. The trail is roughly 1/2 hr. from there.

The trail is Awesome. There are alot of different ways to navigate the trail from mildly extreme, to easy going. 90% of the trail is stock friendly (at least where we went). I am up for a run as well! Definitely an overnighter for sure!

That doesn't look that hard eh? Do I have the remove the steering column?
You just unbolt it at the rubber flex joint below your brake booster. It is a tricky spot, but can be done.

HAHAHAHA!!! I just sent you a PM with links to Facebook and my Photobucket where all the important pics are of the templates I cut out, the frame repairs, etc. I have the rest of the pics on my external drive at work...so if you need more, let me know what specific areas you need and I will see what I can find. I used saw horses with 2X10 planks. Main advice is to jack it up SLOWLY, to make sure you have all the harnesses, lines and linkages clear from the frame. Have an extra set of eyes/hands to help you watch all angles as you lift the body. use the frame to help you as you lift (4X4 blocks at the body mounts - adding them progressively as you lift to keep truck stable).

So far so good as far as Sunday goes. I finished the exhaust last night and patched small hole on the inner wheel well, along with the gap guards. SO, truck is ready to go
I even put it on our calendar (My wife lives by it) so she has nothing to argue about!FIX YOUR DAMN TRUCK ADAM!!!

PS, yes...I have a touch of bodywork to do when it warms up...She is gonna be Military Flat Green when it is warm enough to spray!!!

Hey guys. It's been a looong time since I've been here! Anyways, I need to pick some mechanical brains on finding resources to get some engine specs for a project I'm doing. I am looking for specific dimensions on the RB20DET engine/tranny. Looking for the length of the block, length of the Tansmission from the center of the shifter, to the mounting surface on the bell housing. And maybe even the overall length from the front of the engine to the center of the shifter (with tranny mounted to block obviously)
I know NPORA has a wealth of resourceful members/gearheads, so hoping someone can point me in the right direction, because Google ain't pulling much up for results...
