  1. Finally!!! Someone says something good about the 33 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. If you don't mind, how much were the OEM ones? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Valve cover? My passenger side valve cover on my 01 3.3L Frontier leaked like a sieve. Easy enough to replace the gasket.. driver side is not the same story, there's lots more to take off, but still manageable. I opted to tighten the driver side valve cover in as many places as I could reach even though it wasn't leaking... don't do that.. started leaking 10 times worse than the passenger side. Anyway.. is the oil leaking down on to the exhaust manifold? Does light smoke occasionally come from the engine bay and your heat/AC air smell like burning oil with recycle is off? For the heater/AC air issue, I'd do the climate control diagnostic. I'll find it in the FSM for you.. On page 357; section "HA", start the "self diagnosis mode". Then go to page 383 for the blower motor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Yeah man just get the bearings. Inner and outer for each hub your going to be working on. You're going to need some harbor freight punches. Or any punch that's not super hard because your going to be knocking the old races out and the new races in. Can't scar the new races or the bearings will wear out quickly. There are tools for knocking bearing races in but I swear a softish punch is all you need. If you've never done it before a bench vice would be awesome but I usually just use my feet to hold it still. Careful with your swing though if you hold it with your feet; you miss the right way and you'll be talking like a chipmunk Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I don't see how it is possible that the "complete" hub comes with bearing already installed. Maybe the bearing races are already installed?? You're still gonna have to set the bearing with that weird socket that has two little raised areas. Heck maybe you already knew all of that.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Why are you replacing the whole hub? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Citron is right about dry lubricants. The best dry lubricant there has ever been is this stuff: http://www.lpslabs.com/product-details/571 http://m.skygeek.com/lps-02616-aerosol-lubricant-dry-film-ptfe-12-oz.html?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_content=lps-02616-aerosol-lubricant-dry-film-ptfe-12-oz&utm_campaign=froogle&gclid=CjwKEAiA8JbEBRCz2szzhqrx7H8SJAC6FjXX5AzgBtt_daUFG1IY3Uw5Olsvi_NJhYbO742QsNfrvRoCFu3w_wcB I use it on my window felt also. Lasts for a good while. Straight aerosol silicone is the stuff also! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. This issue, or a variant, has happened to me as well.. rear passenger exterior handle flopping and interior handle is no better. This is what I do when it happens: Pull/SLAM the locking mechanism to the unlock position as hard as you can, then SLAM it into the locked position. Repeat three times and then both handles will work once again. Edit: gently or really even moderately unlocking and locking doesn't work. You have to SLAM the crap out of it. The harder you slam it the longer before it comes back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. My wife is in school studying to become a sonographer so on Saturday mornings while she is at school, my kids and I are going to start going on adventures. I will log our adventures here. 1st Trip Dicks Creek, Clayton Georgia Info: So this is the very first trail I ever traveled. I think I searched "best georgia 4x4 trails" to find it. This is a very easy trail. I believe I might be able to complete the whole thing in a minivan. While easy, this trail has 4 or 5 water crossings, amazing camp sites, waterfalls, beautiful clearings, several difficult side trails (too difficult for my stock jr50), and a creek running the (almost) entire length. On the negative side Dicks Creek is constantly frequented by Jeep groups, and as you can see in the video below, for much of the trail there isn't room to pull off and let folks by. I was looking at satellite images for the exit point of the trail and you can see a group of vehicles there. So we had a great time and the rain/mist while making for a less than optimal photo/video situation was absolutely beautiful in person. In fact it is my favorite climate to explore in. My phone mount broke so getting my phone in and out of its makeshift cradle was a pain and I didn't get anywhere near as many pictures as I wanted to. Also my youngest boy is too small to do any hiking so without my wife we were limited to the vehicle. Cool little spot perfect for photos My little girl and the JR50 This is the waterfall. I'm going to get down there next time! https://vimeo.com/200598336 This is the first edited video I've ever made. I can't decide whether or not I should've left the trail portion at regular speed or not.. you guys let me know if it is unpleasant and I'll make improvements as I create more entries to this log. 11. Let us know when you figure out what is going on. I'm right behind you on this stuff man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I've not walked down this road personally yet but suspension parts have to be of high quality or you run in to these issues. My plan is to buy some 50A shore hardness polyurethane and redo my entire suspension with it, one part at a time. I'm not sure about longevity but I am confident it'll be better than the worst china has to offer from the local auto parts store. You know some stuff is just fine from the parts store but then there are things like suspension parts, bearings, cv axels, etc. which are better bought from a dealership or even an industrial supply store like Bearings and Drives. 13. Where did you buy parts from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah the $99 scissor jack at harbor freight had a wimpy strap instead... I was actually going back in with the new transmission and it hung on an obstruction causing the thin junky tray where the strap attaches to warp and allowing the whole tray to detach from the base and BAM! After that I took that piece of junk back and went to Sunbelt Equipment Rental and all they had was a gigantic tractor trailer trans jack which had a multi axis tilt. Went in like a dream with that behemoth! [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Oops! I was thought we were speaking about the crank position! Well good for you again. I'm subscribed, keep us posted on your findings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I am genuinely happy for you. Trans problems suck.. Now it sounds like you are on the right track. I'll just go ahead and tell you.. that sensor is a huge pain to get to. I had to go buy a tiny stubby 10mm wrench. Before that I struggled and screamed for hours.. I might even go buy like 3 assortments of extensions and 4 or 5 ujoints. I don't really know if it's even possible but if you can slink a socket down there from the engine bay and have someone place the socket on the bolt while you break it loose from up top... wow that'd be awesome. See what it looks like and if you can't reach it from the top then go find a short stubby 10mm ratcheting wrench. You'll be so glad you went for the ratcheting action!!! 17. Smell your transmission dip stick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. You need to speak with an attorney If they performed the work and left the said items which caused the failure in the state which caused the failure then they are responsible. Unless of course you asked that the state be left as such.. Your probably going to have to sue.. if you ask that something be taken care of and they aren't honoring their promise then STOP speaking to them immediately and go to an attorney for advice on your options. 19. I had an 01 vg33 Frontier and it ticked fairly loud at the passenger exhaust manifold. It had an exhaust leak at the first flange, or so I thought. It would overheat sitting in a drive thru on a hot summer day with the AC on... maybe it was a seeping head gasket... hmmm.. Anyway I'd ask the guy if he has ever seen it over heat. If he says yes for any reason decline the vehicle. If not, unscrew the radiator reservoir and stick your nose down in it. If it smells like exhaust, decline that puppy. Or best yet, take the vehicle for a spin and pull over somewhere and run the engine at 4000rpms for about 2-3min, then check the reservoir for vapor/smoke and exhaust fumes. It you see oil or smell oil/gas/exhaust in the coolant reservoir, decline the vehicle. I'm sure I don't need to say it but DO NOT open the radiator cap, ONLY the white plastic coolant reservoir. The whining pump in very cold weather can be remedied by playing around with slightly thinner hydraulic oil. I'd try ISO 46 or even ISO 32. Maybe mix a quart of ISO 32 and a quart of dextron trans fluid. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. So you took it to a trans shop and the bolts backed out on their own work, and now they don't want to honor their warranty? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. If you put stuff in the PS system that is of a lower viscosity than spec PS fluid then you've exasperated the leaking problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. ISO 68 Turbine Oil FTW You might could even try ISO 100 Turbine Oil but beware ISO 100 is THICK. Vane pump might not like 100. I can personally vouch for ISO 68 though, my rack was leaking like a sieve, and 68 slowed it waaaaaay down and the pump likes it just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
