I recently bought a 1991 Nissan Terrano and after a couple of days I noticed that my battery wasn't charging. So I checked all the (loose) wires and connect some but it was my alternator. I replaced the brushes in the alternator and today I tried to start the Terrano with some jumper leads. After a couple of seconds there was some smoke and one wire burnt down (see photo)
Does anybody know what this wire is? And what could cause the short circuit?
