  1. I don't call the mechanics thieves, its the service writers or whatever. The place that did my mothers wanted to charge her 8 hours worth of labour just for the diagnostic...And in the end they told me they had to "call nissan canada" to find out what it was. I beat them down to eliminating that 8 hours and they only billed parts and actual labour time. This of course after we threatened to go to the BBB. fskcin' crooks. They knew damn well what was wrong and just tried to pull a fast one.

Irks me with situations like that..... makes my job so much harder to do because people assume I just want their money.....

He lifted his truck twice! Nice lift man, looks good. I'd like to do the same, what did you do in the front? I'd like to do my lift but hesitant to crank the T-bars because I don't want to screw my truck up. Also, how do you like those Nexen Roadian M/T's? They look good.

Only lifted it once, unless you including putting it on my lift at work lol

Love the lift. Makes my truck awesomer lol.

I love the nexen mt. I've been running nexens on my drift car for a while. Figured I'd put them on my truck. Turns out they grip really well, look really good. I went crawling and didn't even air down and had no grip issues. I was impressed to say the least lol.

  3. Damn, how long did the PO kennel jackals in it?

Well, the bright side is that it shouldn't be hard to find better ones, and if the color doesn't match, just throw some covers on them. :aok:

Good Question. lol yeah , color or even going to cloth seats won't bug me. having cushion for my butt will be amazing. lol

  4. I'm pretty sure JJ_Big_Shoe put some Maxima seats in his and only had to move one rail, or something else minor.

Barring that, just look around for better Pathy seats; they should be easy to find and I hear the SE seats are more comfy.

Glad you are keeping your beater. :aok:

Yeah I'm happy with her. She's definitely grown on me.

  5. alright, so the seats in my Pathy are torn up. like BAD. when i first bought the truck it didn't bother me, because i bought it to be a beater. i was going to just trash the truck and not feel bad.... well after my lil offroad fun.... i've grown a heart for this truck. and now i'm gonna start fixing things.

so. what seats have you guys used besides stock seats. (i'm gonna go junkyard hopping next saturday, wanna have a list of seats to look for.)

Minimal moddification the better ^_^ lol

  6. Use steel skids, saw a yota a few weeks ago that used aluminum skid plates and paid the price for the lite weight, ripped wide open and cracked his oil tank.

i was planning on that, but thank you for the advise. after taking my Pathy up this last weekend i learned so much about the truck. its a very capable rig right out of the box. every jeep at the event had a 4" or higher lift, and i was (lower) stock height. i hit allot of rocks on the bottom (obviously lol) but i still had the traction and angles to make it up almost everything they did. i chickened out on 2 due to height issues. tried one of those though lol. man it was a blast! can't wait to get my lift and try again!

  7. Looks like you got lucky! Time for some skid plates if you are gonna wheel like that! Thanks for the pics.... Sorta reminds me of my Class 5 off road days when we cracked a case and used a "diaper" to catch the oil, pour it back in, drive another couple hundred yards, pour it back in.... at least we made it to the next check point.

Yeah I got extremely lucky lol skid plates are definitely in the works lol

  8. Actually $1200 is a good shop price. Book time on the repair is 8-10 hours. It depends on the shop rate as far as labor cost. Generally shop rates are $100-$130 a hour. Total parts comes out to around $200-$250 if you want the drive belt. So in the real world $1200 is my good guy price

yeah 1200 is a good price. for RWD VQ40's we charge 9 hours to do a timing chain, and FWD VQ we charge 12 hours. at our shop rate of 112.50$ (Nissan Dealership) takes me about 6 hours to do them, (don't call me a thief because i'm good at my job please...)

  9. Some good tips here guys, another reason I started this topic was that I didn't do an engine flush I just opened the sump plug and left it draining all night to get as much out as possible. All seemed well the next morning. Refilled it with fresh oil, waited 10 mins then checked the dipstick and it's black already with little whispers of clean oil in it. So there must have been a lot of black oil still clinging to the insides of the engine, even after 12 hours of draining!

well technically the oil IS designed to cling onto the upper componants so you don't dry start the top end every morning lol.
