  1. Thanks for sharing your project details...more power to you for taking on this build. Looking forward to seeing the results especially the before and after fuel consumption figures. Best of luck.
  2. Yup another benefit of a JDM swap is the horsepower gain...the Japanese spec engines come with more ponies.
  3. I tried the JDM route when I replaced the engine on my '92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD and the results were great. Just do your research on JDM engine sellers and how they test their engines. Why not consider going the Diesel route from a Japanese spec Terrano with gas prices being what they are.
  4. Thanks for the input. Its finally gotten a lot warmer in my neck of the woods and hope to tackle it soon. Curious to see what size the O ring is whenever you manage to dig them out...Thanks again.
  5. Welcome to the Club...hope you enjoy your ride for many years to come. Have you done a computer diagnostic check yet? The instructions how to do one is listed in the How To section. That the first place to start the search for your answer. Cheers
  6. Hi...I want to clean and lube my auto locking hubs and in the Service Manual (FA p.19) it says to replace the O Ring and Snap ring when you grease them up again. I can't seem to find what size the two parts are without taking them off to inspect them. My local Nissan dealer was not very helpful but they did print up the schematic and it seems the O ring is - 40250E and Snap Ring is - 38514. Do you think its necessary to replace these two parts or can they simply be cleaned and replaced? Thanks for your time. Cheers
  7. Great write up...I want to take apart my automatic hub to grease them up but it says in the Service Manual (FA p.19) to replace the O ring and snap ring but does not give any sizes. I went to Nissan and they were dumbfounded as usual but I got the part numbers, they told me they only sell the entire hub. It seems the O ring is part 40250E and the Snap Ring is 38514. If you could help me with replacement sizes, since you might still have your original still in parts, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  8. Interesting you mention that it starts to get better when it warms up. The others have already mentioned good things to do. I would add opening your hood and checking the Fuel line connections and tighten them up and see what that does to your power and cold idle.
  9. Not unless you find a new frame or someone you know can weld very well...but it depends on your province. Some allow frame repairs and other's don't, I know Quebec does not allow them. I would suggest parting it out.
  10. Hope you are in Ontario and don't have to get it inspected by another province. I've shopped the Ontario market and believe it or not they are in worse condition than one's from Quebec...cosmetically perfect bodies makes me worry since they were used as grocery cars and not always maintained...the big problem with any vehicle that passes inspection in Ontario is you can't trust the results. There are hundreds of people that have the authority to inspect/pass vehicles and can be easily convinced (wink wink) to look the other way. Just looking at the pic it has not been been rust proofed consistently if at all...you would still have the stickers on the wheel hubs that say 'Automatic Running Hub'. Very simple to check the frame...get out there with your hammer and screwdriver and start tapping the frame behind the rear wheels. This area is the easiest to access and if its gone...its all gone. Best of luck...check out all the other posts here...you can make it run for at least another 100k. Cheers
