Not yet but this is something I do plan on trying. Not for the body though. When you roll it on it seems to give a smoother finish.

i soon wanna try the gun method, mostly bod but ill experiment on trim pieces like grill and stuff.

When you order it talk to Eric and see if they have something to thin it out a little for a smoother finish when spraying it. I believe they do.

  2. Rebuilt the internals of my driver door in my 91. Change out the entire lock system, changed out the window seals, and window regulator. Not as hard as one might think. Check out the how to videos in "The Garage" section. More of those videos will be on the way.

  3. Picked up a 95 Pathfinder today for parts. It's a rust bucket with 130,000 miles on the engine and trans. If the frame is salvageable You'll be seeing a full fledged rock crawler in the near future. Stay tuned for pics and video.

Looks nice.. I just did a respray of my bonnet (did a bit of a write-up on my facebook page and pics) not a bad job for my first ever spray painting attempt with a proper gun! Though I've got to finish the write up just like I have to finish the cut & polish to get a full shine, hehe.

It's definitely something that you should practice if only with thinners, but get used to the guns if you've not used them before.

      The_Magicians_Eye

yeah I plan on practicing on a few non automotive projects first.

  4. Go check out the "Product Reviews".

  5. Got my plasma cutter today :) Works great. Will be making a pile of scrap tomorrow and really putting this and my new compressor to the test. Will post a review in the "Product Reviews" area soon.

Make sure to use a good air line dryer. It really affects the quality of the cut.

Yeah that's something I'm keeping an eye on. I don't have a permanent setup just yet but I'm running two filters right before they hit the machine and nether one has collected any water just yet. I'm about to head into the shop to to put a beating on both the plasma cutter and my compressor I just got. Will be back later with a full review.

Only problem is my trailer hitch is welded to the frame. So I'd have to cut it off

  6. Plasma cutter, JD2 Model 32 bender, and a few other odds and ends on the way. Can't wait!!!

is that with a stand too..? sweet deal

    4. The_Magicians_Eye

      The_Magicians_Eye

No stand. I didn't want it. I have scrap I can make one out of. Plus I'm giving serious thought to mounting it vertical so I can mount a HF air over hydraulic ram to it without causing side load on the ram. Once I get it I'll figure it all out.

  7. Bought an Everlast Power I-MIG 200 welder just now. Will post an unboxing and a review when I get it. Plus my overall experience with dealing with Everlast.

hey i bought a cheapo harbor freight welder and despite what everyone told me it hasn't been bad to me at all. good luck with the purchase

    3. The_Magicians_Eye

      The_Magicians_Eye

I have a 90 amp HF welder. It by no means is a good welder but it get's the job done. For the $90 I paid for it I'll never complain. I got way more than my money's worth from it. I see it this way. If a tool pays for itself and then some, it's a great buy even if it doesn't last forever or work as well as the high priced equivalent.

      pattywagon95

      i agree. perfectly said

  8. Question - Buy a MIG welder and a combo TIG, Stick, and Plasma Cutter or just get the MIG and buy a tubing bender?

  9. Some dip @!*% kid tried to race me tonight in his crappy rusted out lifted Jeep Grand Cherokee. I guess he figured because my truck was a little loud and that it's fixed up for 4 wheeling that I'd want to race? uhhh... lol If I was trying to make my truck fast I don't think I would have added all that weight to it lol. However his totally awesome blue LED lights that he stuck all over his dash I'm sure added a few extra horse power. Maybe I should have asked him if he want...

It had a V8. And unless he was riding a bike he'd still more than likely beat my pathy lol. It's not fast at all. It was slow before I added all that armor to it. I could have easily beat him off the line if I wanted to throw it in 4 low and smash on it. But then again I'm not trying to hurt my truck for the sake of racing some rust bucket. It's not built for that and never will be.

      Tungsten

You would be surprised how quick a Pathy is compared to other 4x4s of the time. It's not the fastest but it is sure not the slowest.

    4. nismothunder

      nismothunder

The only one slower was the tiny v6 blazers, 4runners and the first gen exploders.

  10. Finally passed NY State Safety Inspection. On the bright side after replacing both headlight I can report a dramatic improvement in lighting. I wasn't expecting that at all. My lights where good and the bulbs were newer.

    1. sroeser01

      sroeser01

trust me i know how it goes lol NJ same thing. Not used to it coming from down south

  11. Quick Update on the Pathy. Been fighting to get this thing to pass a "safety inspection" here in NY. They nit pick about stupid stuff. Had to replace both both headlights due to a very small chip in them. Had to replace my LED turn signals because they weren't DOT approved. Had to replace my turn signal switch because my high beams weren't working. Oh and had to adjust my e-brake because it didn't hold as well as they wanted it to.

    1. The_Magicians_Eye

      The_Magicians_Eye

They even check your wipers to make sure they aren't damaged lol

    2. The_Magicians_Eye

      The_Magicians_Eye

The plus side is they don't sniff test anything 1995 and older! They basically check to see if you cat is rusted out. They look at your vacuum lines to make sure non are missing, Check your intake boot for cracks, make sure you have a PCV valve and smog pump if your car came with one. I could be running super rich and they wouldn't care. My O2 sensor could be bad and they wouldn't care. So I guess it's a fare trade.

Thanks Balln. Tungsten I haven't even looked yet. Still have so much to do before I'll be ready for some wheeling. I'm sure I'll find something though. Even if it's a parking block flex picture lol.

"beauttiful scenery" how can you live in PA and think AZ has beautiful scenery? I walk out the house every day and get depressed. I drive around town for work and get depressed. Sure AZ has some pretty areas but Phoenix is down right ugly. I'm ready for something completely new. Not sure what kind of wheelin I'll find up there but I'll have plenty of know to play in.

  18. Headed to the JY to go get some JGC Springs. Will report back with pics when I'm finished.

    1. Nefarious

      Nefarious

try and find the heaviest JGC springs the ones with the factory lift and 5.9 litre v8 are the best ones!

    2. The_Magicians_Eye

      The_Magicians_Eye

I found one with some really heavy after market lift springs lol. I passed on those though. I spent way to much time trying to find factory tags. I gave up and just went with an 98 that looked like it had the thicker wire when comparing them to the others. Will post before and after pics once I'm finished putting them in here in a few.

  19. Building my rock sliders this weekend. 2" square tubing 1/4 thick. Don't think I'll have issues bending them up.

  20. Installed some Thermo-Tec Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier on the trans pan and also installed a 2nd very large Derale trans cooler to go with the smaller one that was installed when I got my trans rebuilt..

Will be picking up a Thermo-Tec Clamp-On Heat Shield for the crossover pipe that came with the Pacesetter headers.
