  1. Good plan. And if thats your goal, the Pathfinder will pleasantly surprise you with what it will handle.
  2. A question for ya, what do you plan on making this vehicle into? Is it pretty much just a daily driver? or do you plan on doing some serious off roading in it? A heads up to ya: Theres very little aftermarket support for the pathfinder. This forum is a wealth of knowledge, and if theres something youd like to do to your pathfinder, odds are, theres a thread on it. As stock, the pathfinder is extremely capable (about as capable as the one driving it). If you have any specific plans for anything, try a quick search to see what you're getting yourself into. I'm definitely not trying to deter you from purchasing your friend's pathy, just thought I'd give you a heads up that I never got before I bought mine. Without the aftermarket support, I've just had to get... well, creative. EDIT: And for the record, I dont regret owning mine for a minute!
  3. EXACTLY what I was looking at! I remember stalking his ride a while back, but had forgotten who it was. Thanks for the link.
  4. I've been looking around and trying to find a picture that I saw once upon a time... It was of the rear hatch, and there were some tools mounted to it. (Shovel, I think?) It kinda falls into the same category as this thread so thought I'd post here. Anybody else seen that picture? or know who's ride it was? I really want to see how it was done again. Thanks!
  5. Welcome to the family! I ran 31s on mine, and then switched to the metric equivalent on 16s and bought my wheels from summit. If its the style you want, and the price you like, I say go for it. I went with 16s simply because of the tires I bought, and they were cheaper than what I could find here locally on craigslist. They were out of stock of the 31x10.5R15s and so I jumped up to the next size wheel (opposite of what you're doing, sounds like). I'd ask him when the timing belt was last changed, if at all, and probably put that near the top of your to do list. Good luck! Feel free to ask all the questions you have, and believe it or not, the search button actually does GREAT at bringing up old topics that may have covered the average "beginner questions". Enjoy the wealth of knowledge here!
  6. That is good information to know, thanks.
  7. Never done it before myself, I just did a quick google search.
  8. Hopefully with your knowledge of other Nissans, we can gain more insight as to what may possibly be interchangeable with our pathys! Welcome to the fam!
  9. The 99-04 "Jeep Grand Cherokee" is known as the "WJ" so I believe they may be the same thing...
  10. Replaced the fuel filter! I'm excited to cut open the old one and see how nasty it is. Since it says "Made in Japan" I wonder if its EVER been replaced...
  11. I've written to the AC customer service, and they mentioned that the AC springs were 200lbs HIGHER spring rate than the stock ones. That'd sure make sense for why its so harsh.
  12. Well, I replaced my fuel filter just now, and those hoses were a PITA to take off! Tore up one side with a set of pliers that I was using to twist em off, so ended up snipping off that half inch and putting the same hose back on. Still reached with plenty of slack. I'll be following this post for sure, since I'm pretty certain I'll need to replace that charcoal canister too. Good luck to ya That1Guy on getting this all figured out! Thanks for starting this post so that I could figure out more of what I needed to do!
  13. I havent purchased new springs yet. Still making sure I do it right the first time so that I dont waste hard earned play money. As a newlywed with a kid on the way, where we're both in school and I work full-time, there's not an exceptional amount of play money. The Pathfinder needs new suspension, so this is a good time to upgrade. I'll update this with my progress when I finally start throwing money at it.
  14. DANG. I am completely overdue! Haha
  15. They should be replaced that frequently?
  16. Thats a pretty knarly thorn if it did THAT to ya!
  17. Topped off my brake fluid and power steering fluid, and patched up a leaky flex pipe as a temporary fix for now with "Tiger Wrap." It sounds much better (no putt-putt!) and brakes nicer. Now to fix it so I get more than 13mpg...
  18. Congrats!! I remember the pain of #6 well! Glad to hear you got it, haha.
  19. There are dozens of threads on it, here's one: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/7052-pathy-swaying-at-freeway-speeds/ And a step by step solution: http://www.wallpaperama.com/forums/nissan-pathfinder-how-to-replace-suspension-links-t6856.html
