  1. Had the same problem before, it was the entire distributor. You could see a small black area on to where it was arching to the body. Another thing i had to replace was the positive connector to the battery. Removed those crappy terminals, cleaned up the wires and installed nice connector J-Block that had two openings that I could install the two smaller gauge wires. Worked like a charm.

Good Luck on the distributor. Hopefully that has resolved the issue.

  2. The CV's are easy to change and will cost you about $70-$90 new, buy Warn hubs and you will not get the wear on the CV boots. Everything else you listed, I have changed myself and you can to with a little work and buying parts online. 150k miles on a 97 is low mileage for a VG33. I have almost 200K on my 98 and it still runs great. That engine and trans is very robust. Just keep up on the maintenance like oil changes etc.

  3. Wow PAMountainbiker, 37's!! I guess no guts no glory. Good luck on that SAS. I have another ride with the Jeep club out here in New Mexico tomorrow, going to climb some large hills.

What are you guys using now for your rear shocks on the 6.5" SFD? I need to replace mine again. LOL.

  4. So once again i am having issues with my front drivers side cv half shaft. Whenever i drive around and take turns I can hear a slight clicking thumping noise. I have replaced these dang shafts so much. I have autozone on speed dial for these things. I am not hard on them at all. I try and install them with the best of my abilities and in my opinion (not professional but better than anyone found in a pepboys) I am doing it right. Does anyone know of anything that i could be doing wrong? Maybe the autozone parts are crap? Maybe I am not doing something right? Maybe the 31x11.5s are putting a weird angle on the shaft? It does have the a/c lift. Any suggestions....this noise really bugs and it makes me feel like she's about to break :(

Did you ever install the WARN HUB lockers? That will really help.

  5. I followed Rick13. I'm running 285/75/16 Wrangler MTR (1st gen) on 16x8, 3.75" BS Pro Comp Steelies. The pathy has 2" AC lift and no spacer. It clears the struts just fine.

Dududckling, can you show me a picture of your Pathy with the rim & tire setup? Still looking at the Pro Comp Rock Crawlers 16x8 but with the 285/75/16 BFG AT KO.

  6. Well that's where I saw the OME lift that I included in my OP. I just don't want to turn my torsion bars up for a lift. Doesn't that usually lead to damage tithe bushings or something over time?

You won't have to worry about any torsion bars in an R50. If this is going to be your DD and your not worried about a rougher ride, go with the AC 2" lift from WWW.4x4PARTS.COM.

Go with the KYB-GR2 for struts in the front and Bilstens for rear shocks.

  7. Tired old question, but all the info I've researched has my head swimming. What's the best lift kit for my needs/wants? I have a 98 pathfinder le 4x4. Going camping into deep woods is about as hardcore as my off-roading will get. I want to run 31"s but I think they would look stupid-snug in the wheel wells at stock height. I've heard good things about OME lifts, and I've been thinking their 1.75" lift would fit my needs. This one in particular http://www.cartserver.com/sc/cart.cgi

Considering my off road needs, would this be a suitable lift kit for me? Thanks you guys.

I started with the AC 2" lift and quickly got bored. Check out this website for a sub frame drop. http://www.krfabs.com/product_detail.php?productID=2

  8. I have those exact rims and just barely fit the 285/75/16 GY DuraTracs (32.8") - but I think they are a tad skinnier (tread width/section width) than the BGF AT's.

Rick, did you have to add and spacers or was the back space enough on those rims? maybe a 16x10 would be better 3.75 BS??

  9. Who's running these Pro Comp Extreme Rock Crawlers?

Checking on a new set of rims and tires after the SFD.

Is this a good combination, no rub, no rub on the struts and no spacers or adapters.

  10. Yes the metal beneath the plastic can just be removed. Its 3 bolts per side....I wanna say 12mm. Do I need to make a "How to Remove Your Rear Bumper" thread? It only takes me but 5 minutes to do.

Silvapathy, what rear shocks are you running? Compressed, extended? I need to buy new ones LOL.
