I believe most people just weld some metal tabs and use studs with big wingnuts to hold it on (and a lock if you leave it there).
Not sure if these are still made but another option:

I'm not trying to be an ass but the Nissan community has really done it to themselves. Almost at the point I'm considering going Toyota if I have to buy another rig.

There is one part that you also forget. You still have labor to include on that price when building it yourself. Could you make it fit your need a bit better? Possibly depending on what your needs are and as long as you have the necessary knowledge and tools to do so. That said I can promise that the labor you put in compared to what a company like Sherpa Equipment has done will basically even put at the least.
Sometimes it's just easier to buy something pre made, with a warranty, that I don't have to worry about grinding, ensuring all the welds don't rust and that it's square (Not that doesn't happen with pre fab either). Built vs bought has it's place but the majority of Nissan owners are cheapskates. Though I will say it is far worse with the first gen xterra groups. Every time someone tries to pitch a product they get torn apart by the "I can build it myself for less" crowd, and there you have it, no aftermarket.

And this right here is why there is zero aftermarket for these trucks and the Xterra.

There's this post on clubxterra, of course no source but it falls in line with what I've heard over the years:

I will say even though my 02 X is supposed to have one of the "good ones" it doesn't compare to the one my 95 pathfinder has (it is basically like locked rear end in the snow and wet weather).

Now that you mention it, there were timing chain guide issues in early 2nd Gen Xterras, but not sure if it bled into Frontiers and Pathfinders, but seemingly plausible. The guides wore prematurely and caused rattle noises. Don’t recall seeing much about them manifesting into timing issues, since the noise was fairly obvious of an issue.
Personally, I go the scanner route. Mine supports live data, but also shows pending codes. Presuming they all do.
It did happen to the pathfinders for sure. My grandparents neighbour had an 08 and we had to do the timing set on it, and it had around 80,000km on it.
My father has a 2012 X that he bought new had had to have the timing chain and guides replaced on it at 180,000km... The timing belt on his old 2000 r50 lasted longer haha.

I've never had to replace a fuse link on mine, so I'm inclined to leave well enough alone. If I was going to reengineer them, I like your idea with the screw terminals. Make sure you get the special fuse link wire, sounds like its got special insulation so it doesn't start a fire when it blows.
I've taken enough of them out of JY trucks over the years that I don't worry about having to find them anymore. Always keep a set in the toolkit in the back.
OPs idea is good though, perhaps there's another way or another fuse type that would be a slow blow. Can you get slow blow blade fuses? What about this https://www.littelfuse.com/products/fuses/automotive-passenger-car/blade-fuses/299.aspx

4.90 only came in 03-04 Automatic non supercharged models IIRC.

no problem. hope the truck is running well now

Fingers crossed! Last time I had to replace one the local parts house special ordered me a Bosch or hitachi one, can’t remember. The guy at the counter refused to sell me the normal brand they carried, didn’t want me coming back because “they’re hot garbage”.

Personally I’d just let the shop recycle it. Think of it this way, there’s one more core for them to rebuild, and keep someone else’s truck on the road.

I mean, I'm not gonna drive 3 states over for just that, but if I see one at one of the local junk yards then IMO its worth my time for another 'James-Bond-esque' feature...
Any experience with the OME struts? I suppose I should do a search of this forum to find reviews, but I needed new ones and those are now literally the only option other than KYBs as far as I know at this time. I hope they serve me well both on road and gravel/offroad as I do about 50% of my driving on each typically.
OME struts are good quality. I installed a set on my parents 2000 and they worked well until they traded it in 5 or 6 years later. Old man emu is also ARB.

It’s funny they excluded it on the r50 but all the Wd21s had the electric rear glass opener. I almost never use the key in the tailgate.

sounds exactly like mine did when it dropped an injector
I would check them with a multimeter hot and cold. They should be around 14 ohms
-
Sadly I've never seen anything like that
-
The aftermarket injectors are hit or miss. I try to find good used OEM or pony up for Bosch or Hitachi parts.
Can you post a link to the video here? I was the admin for the FB group but have since left that toxic platform lol.

If I could find adjustable ones for my wd21 I’d buy them in a heartbeat. None of the aftermarket parts come close to the ride they provided.

I still don't understand why shops wouldn't touch the truck. I've taken mine to a few places here and as long as you're paying, they don't care. And you're not in the rust belt like I am...
Hopefully you can get the wd21 back in good shape eventually. It is nice to have a 2nd car to drive while one is apart though!

We should be able to use something like certbot to automate the lets encrypt renewals.
-
I'd check the wiring circuit for the light. It goes go through several junctions IIRC and there could be a wiring fault or a bad relay. Also is it the same alternator the 87 had?
-
I've never had an issue with this? If you do just jack up the truck on one side to tilt it over and allow a bit more out.
-
Any competent body shop should be able to blend it in. Buff the rest of the rig and it’ll look great.

Most people who buy these aren't driving them anyway. They're garage queens for collectors. Destined to live a sad life of starting up once a year to move it around.
