  1. yep, magic tricks, thats funny To replace it, you do have to remove the intake and flip it upside down. It bolts on from underneath. The intake is easier to remove on the 3.3l thatn the3.0l. Enjoy!
  2. I believe its under the rear of the intake. To the right of #6 Spark plug. You can access the connector over the left valve cover near the firewall, but its not easy with big hands.
  3. Ok, the ECM has been reprogrammed, thats good. The chance of both rear o2 sensors failing at the same time is pretty rare. Both cat converters going bad at the same time is pretty rare. It sounds like the MAF meter to me, but if the dealer wants to replace the cats, hey, let 'em. But I would definatly want to see the damaged cats if I were you. I understand its hard to listen to other people when they are not there and are not actually looking at your vehicle. I am just going on what I have seen.
  4. Ok, easy one the dealer slamming, I work at one! You can check the cats if you want. A couple of hours removing the front pipes and you can inspect the backside of the cat material. The only way we condem cats is if they have broken material in the downpipe. You might want to question how they decided the cats were bad. If a good tech looked at your truck, he should be able to show you physically that they are bad. Your other option is to take it to a different dealer and have them check. If they find something different you might try and get your money back from the first place. I still think yoiur problem is electrical. See if you can get your ecm number from the dealer. It should be on the printout from the scan tool. Then check the TSB above to see if your ecm needs reprogramming
  5. Lets see, on my pathfinder I only have about 120,000 on it. My 1991 non-turbo 300zx had 189,000 on it when I sold it. At the shop I have seen several high mileage nissans. The one that sticks out the most is a 1995 Maxima that had 350,000 on the odometer, and odometer replacement sticker on the door sill that was recorded 101,000 miles. The biggest killer of any manufacture is lack of maintence. And some parts are just going to break no matter who makes the vehicle. Depending on what year pathfinder you get, I would say the most reliable engine has been the 3.5 & 4.0. But when it all comes down to it, I would drive a couple of different vehicles before you decide. Hope this helps your choice!
  6. You can get the ecm reprogrammed for free, as per above, if you are under 80,000 miles. Gotta love warranty! The pending comment means it was checked with a generic scanner. Something has to fail twice(two trip logic) before the light will come on. Pending may mean it has only failed once.
  7. I would definatly suspect the MAF. It reads how much air is going into the engine. The ECM takes in that info then watches how much oxygen is in the cats(via rear o2 sensor). If the ECM mistakes how much air is going in(ie: too much or too little), it will set rear o2 sensor codes. I usually check how much air is going by with a scan tool. Ive replaced the MAF for this problem many times on the newer 3.0 and 3.5's. Unfortunatly, they are like $500 I do believe. Remember the MAF affects both banks.
  8. Make sure you inspect the end of the plastic rope. If a piece broke, the new mast may not sit all the way inside of the motor. But then all you have to do is remove the motor, remove the cover nuts, split it in two and remove the broken piece.
  9. Sound like your alt is not charging at higher rpms. The internal charging diode is failing. Go have it tested in or out of the truck! When its not charging it will drain your battery pretty quick.
  10. Bent wheel maybe? Tires way out of balance? Been wheelin and packed some mud in the wheel and throw it out of balance? any abonormal wear on the tires? A little more info might be helpful, but I would check these first. Oh yeah, as per recent postings, make sure you search first!
  11. The Terrano II is different than our pathys. The original terrano is basically a carbon copy of ours as I understand it.
  12. It really suprises me how some people can get so upset about helping other people. I joined this forum about 2 1/2 months ago and I have really enjoyed it. I work at a dealership and I get asked the same questions over and over all the time. But, I enjoy people getting excited about thier nissans. I searched different forums for almost a year before I modified my pathy. Then its been almost a year since then that i joined a few forums to help pass on knowledge. I am more that happy to give anyone any information that I know or have heard about. I believe thats what we all have in common, we want to help people who are enjoying the same stuff we are. Ok, I threw in my two cents, sorry if I cause any trouble with any questions or answers I have put up. Thanks for listening guys!
  13. Maybe once and a while its worth posting a topic that has been discussed before. Maybe someone has something new to add that anyone or everybody could use. I havent seen anything posted about a piggyback controller that is on the Stillen website. I have been curious if it adds more horsepower like it says it does. I believe it is made by Venom? And I believe you can turn it on and off at will. I will double check the search, but hey if its worth the money! Ok, just re-searched and found that the overall consensus is that its not that great, but I didnt see anything about anyone actually installing it on thier pathfinder, oh well, just a thought!
  14. Welcome to the board! Im originally form the great state of MN as well. now I live in WA state. Good to have you on board!
  15. There is also a facotry harness available. Taps into both taillamps and isnt too hard to install.
  16. Welcome, welcome! You should be able to find any info here to help your pathy! There are a lot of good guys on here with good info. Yeah, you dont need to pull the engine to replace the rear main seal, but you do have to pull the trans! Just make sure it is the rear main seal and not just the oil pan leaking. You will kick yourself if you pull the trans and find the seal not leaking. Enjoy the site and the pathfinder!
  17. but did you unplug one of the wires for each of the injectors? Remember you have to disable one at a time. I know its electroinjection thats why you have to do this. sounds like you found the right connector, but just unplugging the connector wont do anything. you have to pull one wire then reconnect the connector to make the other injector operate.
  18. I used a similare harness because mine was Bose. I think it was made by Schosce? I got it from Crutchfield.com.
  19. Wow, I just back read all of the posts and thats a lot of stuff. Like someone said, buy the timing light. No ifs ands or buts, just buy it and use it. Now, I have seen this before. One of you fuel injectors may of failed, mechanicaly. This wont set any codes. Its is acutally very easy to test to see if they are both working. On the top of the TB, the injector wires go back and down to the connector. Just trace the 2 wires for each injector and diconnect one wire per injector one at a time. Once one wire is pulled, plug the connector back in and try to start and run it. If it dont run, the other injector is not working. Then try the same on the other injector, just plug the other one back in. This will tell you if they are operating. You will need a small pin to disconnect the wire. Replacing the injectors is actually pretty easy. Just replace them one at a time! Try this! If you can wire a stereo, you can do this.
  20. Check that center link. When mine went out after wheelin, the tires pointed in on each other and it was all over the road. Raise the front of your rig off the ground and see if the tires striaghten out, or move seperatly. Caster. camber and toe all all adjustable.
  21. Ok, so this is new to me. I was driving home today and heard a very strange noise that was continuous. Started to dread the worse, but found it was just coming from the drive belts. Upon further inspection, I found my alternator belt had flipped on its side! This is strange to me! Never saw that at the dealership. Anyone else had this happen or seen it?
  22. some of those mufflers got a extended warrany by nissan. Call your local dealer and have them run your VIN and ask them if its covered.
  23. I was able to use a in line adapter from Crutchfield that works with the amps. I have used this harness on my pathfinder, my 91 300zx and my brothers 99QX4. They work great and are adjustable. I did "rewire" my 300z but even that was simple by finding the right wires at the amps and cut them and run new wires to the speakers. Try and find a wiring diagram to help yourself. The amps are located behind the left rear side behind the side panel. Hope this helps.
  24. At my work we just changed to Castrol syntec blend. They gave us a big shpeal about waiting to change the oil at 4000 miles instead of 3000. Personaly, I will keep changing mine every 2500-3000 miles. I have seen the damage in too many nissan engines when people dont change the oil on a regular basis.
  25. Hope that your mech. didnt set the belt up wrong! A tooth off will cause all kind of issues.
