  1. Haven't been able to Eyeball the problem yet. I went Mudding today as it was my day off, and finally .....Got Stuck. It was terrible. Like a Nightmare. I honestly didn't think it would ever happen to me. I went trucking down some ATV trail and found a VERY deep trench. about 5 different ways around it from other ATV's all to small for my big Boy. Couldn't turn around either but just after the trench I eyed a place to turn around. So I naturally figured I'd just go through this Deep trench and turn around on the other side to come back through the trench and home haha... Great Idea. Of course I failed miserably, Once again almost tipped it. This time the only thing that was stopping me from rolling was the fact that the mud just out side the Tire rut I was stuck in was touching the mirror on the passenger side. Being the Dumbass I am to I went alone, with no Winch or even a Rope. So, I Locked al my doors so no one would steal him while I was gone, and ran to the Highway Trying to falg someone down haha I suck. Any way, I wasn't able to Make the Boom happen again. and I did a lot of Forward and reverse in 4 Low today. Perhaps because one of my Rear wheels were off the Ground? That being said I'm still hearing a hell of a lot of Squeaking and creaking while It's on rough Terrain. Bushings? Man they are annoying. If I can get it to BOOM again I'll keep an eye on where I feel it and hear it. Thanks so far for all the replies. It's pretty clear to me that I need a LOT of parts to make this guy Run like I want it to. Until I can come up with some more Info keep the Idea's coming if there are more. I need all the help I can get. Or so my therapist says anyway. Dowser
  2. So would you strongly advise some Manual Locking hubs? Like the Warn Premiums and such? And by Manual, that does refer to me actually having to get out of the vechicle to turn them into position doesn't it? Ya, I know. retarded question but give me an answer anyway. The less I have to get out the better because I have a no mud on my shoes policy I'd like to keep up and so far its been 0 for mud, 34 for shoes. Dowser
  3. Hey all. I'm thinking I should be Concerned so I'll just do some quick research by starting here. 91 XE, 4 Door, Manual. Quick back story. Coming home from work, noticed trail on opposite side of road. Passed it so I slowed down, Pulled a U-Turn, but in the process figured I could just go a little past the shoulder into the grass since I am driving a pathfinder. Turns out the grass was VERY tall and that was a LONG drop. almost rolled. Scared the hell out of me. Since I was entering the ditch on a bit of an angle I know if I pressed my luck and tried to keep turning myself toward the road I would Roll for sure, so I did what I had to and Drove right down to the bottom of the Swamp mudd Ditch in an attempt to turn my vehicle facing up the ditch I just came down. Now with this all in mind, I got her in 4 low and everything is going peachy, I finally get it at the staight up angle which is about 60-70% angle (no Bull Sh!t) then start Trying to get up. back and forth, back and forth, But at high RPM's in 1st cause theres No time to shift in this process, till finally I actually "DO" get out! Was so suprised by this. At any rate, that's the back story and it wasn't much later when I went into that trail feeling like a champ that I noticed some new noises. When I put it in 4 low the next time on the trail, My rear wheels where in a deep rut. I stepped on the gas and BOOOOM!! goes something underneath. Still in 4 low and only made the noise once, not a constant noise. Something definitely moves though. I could Even feel it in the cab. I started playing around as soon as I got out of the rutt to try and figure out what it was. Couldn't get it to reoccur on flat terrain but under load it seems to do it more often. Noticing a lot more creaking too from under. Sigh. What did I do to my poor boy. MEDIC!!! Any thoughts or suggestions? Dowser.
  4. Mr. Pickles your making me Jealous. Oh how long I've wished people would fill this rented apartment property with tons and tons of Dirt. I was even tempted to put a "FILL WANTED" sign out on the driveway after the Fully Provided Cable service we pay the landlord for went out due to non payment. :furious: The only thing I found wrong with what your doing there was drinking Bud Light when we all know it should be Molson Canadian. -alcohol- For now, I'll just keep having to go to the place down the road where they store all the sand for the highways during the winter and pretend like I'm supposed to be tehre driving all around their property. sssh Dowser.
  5. Amusing Topic... If there is a point to any of it. *Digs through his Mr. Dressup costume trunk and puts on his Sherlock Holmes hat. * Just thought I'd throw in that in the earlier photo's you are all mislead into thinking that the vehicle turned over is in fact the vehicle in the first photo. But you would be WRONG!!! Yes that's right. Wrong. A keen Eye and razor sharp perception would allow you to see the small details where you would notice that the vehicle in the first picture, is the same vehicle that is pictured in the second, but is missing the Sticker on the Bumper and the right side of the vehicle that the 3rd pictures poor over turned Pathy has. That being said, I have come to the conclusion that not only is it safe to have a 6" inch lift on the R50's, but recommended for daily work driving and trips to the grocery store. :cool2: -alcohol- Oh... and I was originally going to buy a manual 02 Pathy but figured I'd buy a 91 and beat the Bloody Piss out of it instead. Dowser. P.S. This freaky corner of freaks makes me feel freaky myself... :allclean: (can't for the life of me figure out why i put the Bubble bath emoticon in, but I just don't feel it gets represented enough and I've always been one to support the underdog.
  6. Ok sports fans. Its Down to the Wire and only one company is gonna come out this months winner. In this Corner, wearing the Signature Blue powder coat paint job, Meaty Right Angle Steel design, and Rubberized stoppers, Lets give it up for .... CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL-MINI!!!!! And in this Corner, Wearing nothing but his Rugged Stainless Steel, Slender Tubular design, and add on rubber bumper stops, So amazing at lifting that they call him super, Lets hear it for... SUPERRRRRRRRRRRRRR-LIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!!!! But seriously. This is a question for all you experienced lifters out there. I've been reading all I can find on both products, and the differences in their designs is very significant. Calmini's Upper Control Arms are Meaty Bold looking and seem like they can take a serious beating. On the other hand I've heard that Superlifts Tubular Design makes it All the more strong and from what I can tell in the photo's, they look like they weigh a few pounds less. My question of course is pound for pound, beating for beating, Who would you put your money on. Try not to be Biased in this guys and gals. Looking for some honest reasons when considering my next purchase. They both look good to me. So lets hear your Pro's and Con's and any other thoughts on the matter. Dowser.
  7. I need to get all 4 of my Ball joints changes as well. Driving them now and they are out of the parameters for a proper safety rating. I too was concerned about trying to tackle this job on my own and have been driving them for about 2 months when I know very well they need to be changed. Cash cash cash has been the issue. As you mentioned the Garages want way more then Im willing to pay for Labour. Mr. Pickle, As far as the Ebay listing is concerned, The sale is only in Toronto so thats only like an hour and a half from me. Wondering though. Is that a Decent Brand to purchase? I haven't added my Suspension lift yet and I read somewhere that later when adding one I might have complications possibly breaking a ball joint or something, so maybe something with a warranty might be better. I haven't done any research on Ball joint parts so really not sure whats out there in the Preformance ball joint area. Any Suggestions? Trail chaser, from your link to that other site It sounds like it could be done in a day without too much trouble. Anything You can through in to watch out for so I'm not Cursing up a storm when I try this? And if you can remember, What was the systematic order in which you did things. I'd appreciate any info. Snorkel

Im pretty Sure Safari Snorkel's makes one that would fit a Pathy. I took a look at their Web site a little while ago and you can shop by vehicle model. Don't have their home Web URL handy but look up Safari Snorkel and Australia. No Idea how much it would cost for delivery but they sell for about $350 or so. Dowser
  9. I just did a Huge search on Thorley's cause I just recently replaced my Left and right Y-Pipe. Thinking it over now I should have just bought the headers. And by the Way, You can get Thorley's header in Canada through a shop in Alberta or B.C. theres 1 in Alberta I believe and 2 in B.C. In that way you can avoid the customs rigamaroll. Next, about the studs. Picked up 12 studs myself cause I was thinking of trying to do the Manafold fix at the same time as the Y-Pipe, but when it came down to the moment I chickened out for fear of having the Damn think in the shop all weekend. One, possibly more of my studs are broken and that is a LONG tedious Job from what I've been reading. Now the Studs I picked up at the Official NISSAN dealer and let me tell you... Prepare yourself for needless spending. The studs, Part # 14065-V5004 are 5 bucks a shot and you'll be needing 12 of em. Man... how ridiculous that some studs cost that much... pssd At any Rate, Congrats on the Headers.. and Thanks for the info on the Oil Filter. Thats something I never considered. -thnkboutit- If you pick up the conversion kit let me know from where and how much... Got to plan these things myself. Dowser.
  10. So 3-4 Gallons when the light pops on eh? And according to the 1991 Sale sticker you get about 15 miles to the gallon in the city, 18 on the highway. Since I obviously dont drive in Gallons here in Canada whats the Conversion to Litres... 4.4? I of course know Miles to Km's is 1.6 can't fopr the life of me remember litre's to Gallons and vice vs. By the Way, those figures about the tank info are from a Auto Shops Online "Mitchlins On Demand" Vehicle information On Fuel Capacities. I'm assuming it's right cause they charge a fortune to buy that program. At any rate, Still trying to figure out what the Conversion is since gas Jumped to $1.19 a litre today. yikes. That's over $80 bucks from dry to full tank on a little Pathy.... Sigh. Oh when will they come up with a Hydrogen conversion kit! Dowser
  11. Hey all. Trying to figure out my Gas Mileage on my 91-XE. Now... According to what I've read the standard Fuel tank hold a WHOPPING 79.9L or for you Americans 21.10 Gallons. Now Today I drove my Pathy 481 km's and the Fuel light came on. So I stop at the Gas Station and Filler Up. Turns out I pour in 67L So that leaves like 12.9L of Gas in my Baby... or so I'm kind of Guessing. That being said, Does anyone know exactly how many litres/gallons your left with when the light finally comes on and STAYs on? Dowser
  12. Very Nice Sticker's all. I'm Jealous to say the least. Is 88Pathoffroads sticker the final design or was there several different styles. There's 13 pages on this thread and Well to be honest if you've covered the design idea in page 2-12 I can tell you I skipped it. At any rate, How does a Carzy Canadian get one of those stickers anyway? Just need my Igloo's address? Or must I get my Dogsled team ready to head over the boarder... Now... if I can only find all their papers. Oh and by the way. Not quite a NPORA member yet. Not a cash issue but a darn photo issue. Camera is acting up and cant get things to work right so No photo as of yet for the main NPORA site. That going to affect my chances at owning one of those new fandangled stickers? Hit me back. Dowser.
  13. Man... I cant believe it. I Think I may have passed all you guys this weekend. Did you guys go down near Missassaga lake, some area off the hwy 507? Cause I happen to be driving by there and saw a whole crew of Jeeps. I think I might have even seen a Pathy in there too. Might have been you. I was so amped when i saw everyone there. Too bad I was driving a mini van and not my Baby. I'll tell you thought I was just about to turn in there with the Caravan and giver a go anyway!!! The trail I tried is right by Norland. The locals call it Powerline hill. If you take the 35 up from Lindsay and reach the Only set of Stop lights in Norland, you make a right to HWY 45. About 50 yards in after a Bridge is a street on the left hand side. It takes you up into the powerline area into some Private housing areas. but after awhile the main road ends and a Off Road trail begins. I loved it. Starts out with a Big Mud Hole. I had a lot of fun with it. If you ever want to giver a go I'd be Glad to Join ya. 500 Posts eh? Shouldn't be too hard. I have more questions then that even. Dowser.
  14. Been Digging up some info on headers recently Cause my Y-Pipe is fired. Figured maybe instead of buying a new Y-Pipe maybe I would pick up the headers and do the WHOLE shibang. Question though. I Know you have Pace Setters in your Rig MrJim, but I've been looking at those Doug Thorley's. Now while I view through all his info on his main site, I noticed that it says for the Nissan Path, the Headers they sell are for a Rig with no Lift. Hmmmm, Im assuming this is for Fitting them on. Does anyone have any info on whether or not a 91 Path with a 3" inch lift will be out of luck on Thorley's or not? Perhaps someone out there has them on with a Lift as well. As far as the Pace Setters Go, MrJim, I'm pretty sure I remember seeing that your Path is Lifted and wondering if you had any installation problems due to it. Any info is appreciated. Dowser.
  15. Any suggestion on how to get a Severely Stripped Screw in the Lower MAF position. I went to try this out and clean it up, but I couldn't even get inside the Bugger. Its a tight little fit to reach that screw and looks like the guy before Myself tried fiddling with it. I tries spraying it with some Fluid Film to try and loosen it up but Its on there tight. Any suggestions no matter how stupid will be considered. It would probably be best if I just buy a New pathfinder with a Looser screw.
  16. Well thank you all for the Warm welcome. I'm hoping to get some serious Mudding in before this season is over. If any of you are near or around the Lindsay/Peterbourg Area, I'm living North of you in a little Unknown Town of Minden. (which is about an hour away.) As far as I can tell theres a lot of GOOD places to go here, as I see a LOT of Jeep Jambories and such cruising through here. Although I've had little luck finding these great places they go. I've so far only found one such trail and have done it a few times already. Be nice to find another to join me since I dont have a Winch yet and if I get stuck out there, well...... It'll be a LONG walk. :sniff: And speaking of Canucks.... I miss my old stomping grounds more then anything. I used to live on the west coast for quite some time. Oh and on a final note, Cant figure out how to get those little handy messages under the Avatars so I Popped up my Igloo in the Signature area. I never leave home without it. See you all in the Trenches. Dowser
  17. *Looks around at Room of Veterans* Good Evening, My name is Dowser and I'm a Nissanaholic. I've been an owner now for a little over 3 months and due to the overwhelming love affair thats taken place in such a short amount of time, I felt it was time to go to my first meeting. sly I've been watching this site now for about a month or so, absorbing absolutely everything I can about everything there is to know about Pathfinders. The amount of Knowledge and information within these forums is daunting. Virtually everything fathomable has been posted and talked about which is quite amazing. Before I continue to tell you all a little more about myself Id like to say thanks to who I believe was the starter of this great Forums. MrJim would you please stand up and make yourself recognized. Also a thank you to all the dedicated Members and their Knowledgable input. Espesially 88pathoffroad since you seem to be the Guru of the Nissan Pathology. Ok... that being said. Im from Ontario, Canada. Currently in the Northern regions but originally the Niagara Falls Region. I purchased a 1991 XE from a Red Neck solely on looks before doing any research on Pathfinders. Ya thats right.... I'm a sucker for Dirty Rigs with Big Wheels. :X At any rate, the guy I bought it from had it for about a year and added a 3" Body Lift, 31 BFG Tires, His own Custom made Steel Bumper (menacing looking), some lights, CB, Mag Light attached to Dash and of course, a Fire Extinguisher. How could I refuse. I paid the man whatever he wanted cause It was an instant love affair. It wasn't till later till I noticed his Jimmy Rigged Electrical Fan with a Thermostat sensor jammed in the Rad hose, or the Beat in, smashed up Radiator that virtually didn't work, or even the Glove tied around the lower Rad hose to ensure the leaking stopped that I kind of figured I might of been a bit overcharged. It's like that Woman you see while your drinking at the Bar with all the make up, and your wearing your bear goggles. Not until you get Formally aquanted the next morning do your REALLY see what you took home with you. I later noticed a whole slew of other problems like Balding tires, Lower Ball Joint issues, Rusted out Floors near the Body lift bolts, and of course, Muffler troubles. Not even 3 weeks after I purchased her the Y-Pipe rotted leaving me with a flock of envious Neighbours waving their Fists at me when i Start her up at 5:30am for work. :furious: With all these problems where does one start. So I did what I thought was right and started by taking her for a serious Mudding expedition in the Deepest mud holes I could find. After that Galiant Battle with mother nature I knew it was time to tackle the serious over heating problem first. All in all, Im happy to be joining you all and cant wait to get my Photo's Orginized to join the main NPORA site. See you all in the Trenches. Dowser.
