  1. That's cool, can't wait to hear it in a vid!!!
  2. 2001 LE - 93,500 (which is why she's getting a SFD and new 33's soon...she's still a baby)
  3. X2!!! Thanks for the rim/backspacing info Dan, and yes, your rig is one sweet looking R50!!!
  4. Pro Comp Steel Offroad Xtreme 16x8's w/3.75" BS (w/31" BFG AT's):
  5. Just wanted to chime in since I've been running the Rancho RSX front struts for 3 years. That's 3 years with nothing but good performance and I off-road on moderate Colorado trails about 2-3 times every month. I don't know if something changed in manufacturing since mine might be older than those that are failing, but wanted to let you know there are some satisfied customers out there. In saying that, I run with another 2" AC lifted R50 and he swears by the KYB GR2's.
  6. I'm piecing my SFD right now and that's the whole reason I'm doing it - to run the 33's. I think the primary concern with 33's on the R50 (in my opinion) is the strut clearance, front wheel well/bumper rubbing, and rear tire tucking. You'll have to look in to aftermarket rims with around 3.25" backspacing or wheel spacers/adapters of around 1.5", but I think most of us are OK with either of those (or in my case a combination of the two). There are a couple folks that have run with 33's on the 2" AC lift (AlexRex and 01silvapathy) but I think Alex may run without fender flares and may have dones some signifiant "trimming" and 01silvapathy as tires that measure about 32.7" or less. You guys (Alex/SilvaPathy) correct me where I mis-spoke...
  7. I think you'll be very happy with the Revo 2 if they are anything like the original Revo. I was very close to mentioning the Yoko Geo AT/S. It is the tire on my wife's SUV and is my favorite next to the Revo's. I even have a friend that 4-wheel's fairly heavily in his AT/S's. Crazy, but so cool to see a street savvy tire tackle stuff where all you see are M/T's!!!
  8. 1st of all, you've got a lot of really good tire information on here already, so I don't want to clutter it (much). Going from my OEM Bridgestone Dueler H/T (P) to the Bridgestone Dueler Revo (LT) was the best tire decision I think I've ever made. I was wanting to get a tire that was decent on the street, but could get me up skiing in the winter and camping in the summer. These tires were perfect for 40K miles. The ride comfort change was almost unnoticable (wife couldn't tell the difference). Since then, my R50 has become a much more off-road worthy vehicle, and the BFG A/T KO's (Load D) are my current choice but that is primarily because I was very concerned with sidewall protection. These BFG's are good off-road, great in deep snow, and compliant on-road. In saying all that, I still miss the Revo's - I just really enjoyed them on my rig...and I bet you would also. Now for the clutter - I haven't studied the tire spec's in depth (pun intended), but for some reason I think Bridgestone has reduced the tread depth in some sizes of the new Revo 2 (compared to the original Revo in the exact same tire size). That is only concerning to me now because instead of dealing with random snow events when heading to ski in the Sierra Nevadas, I now need a tire that can "paddle" through up to (and sometimes over) 2 feet of heavy/wet snow (Denver). So sorry, just had to through my tread depth thought in there...good luck with your decision!!! I'm just glad there are other folks out there that "over think" their tire purchase - I say that in jest because I do the EXACT same thing!!!
  9. Looks like an old post/thread, but glad to see new action in it. Good luck with your install - shouldn't be too tough for someone with decent experience. Would you mind measuring your before/after height on your vehicle to see just how much your setup gave you in increased clearance? (Maybe measuring from center front and rear bumpers...if they are both still stock) I have the Automotive Customizers 2" HD coil lift with Rancho all around. At first it sat at about 2.5" over stock height but has since settled to just about 1.75" (especially in the front). A little disappointing for me to see it settle so much in only 3 years and it actually has even more rake than when I had stock suspension. I haven't heard anything bad about the KYB GR-2 struts. I run with another 2001 Pathy that says they are very good. Also, are you planning on getting some bigger shoes once the lift goes on? Thanks (from a fellow 2001 Pathy).
  10. I agree that the OME are probably a very quality product and won't push you up as high as the Automotive Customizers 2" HD coils, but you might want to look at NX4 Industries (Cananda) as they have a 1" front spacer set for sale. It would give you a minor lift, but might help level out the rake: http://www.nx4industries.com/r50susp.html
  11. I'm NOT an expert, but I'm guessing for that size tire you'd need anywhere from 8-10 inch wide rim. When I purchased my aftermarket rims, I went from 7" (stock) to 8" because I thought it might fit larger diameter tires better in the future. For some reason I think I'd be careful with going too wide on the rim (rubbing/clearance). What BFG tires are you going with? KM2's? Rick
  12. Thanks and totally agree - I think 33's make the R50 look unbelievable cool and tire size can be a determining factor on certain trails here in Colorado. I think 31.9" will be a world of difference than my current 30.7".
  13. My BFG 265/70's on my stock rims cleared the strut mount but had a very slight rub - my left front tire was catching part of my splash guard when turning right at full lock. The splash guard was mounted with a slight overlap into the wheel well. It just made a typical rubbing noise and it didn't happen except in parking lots and such. After 18 months of the slight rubbing noise I ended up ripping the splash guard off on a trail while making a hard right on a whoopdiedoo. That is when I decided to get the rims with less backspace. I decided to go w/3.75" to make sure I cleared the struts for when I get newer/larger tires. That's not until Fall 2010, but I'm already excited and reading up. I actually miss my stock alloys - I like how my ride looked very stock, but a little taller. The Jeep guys at my work that I like to go trail riding with say it looks "meaner", but I definitely didn't do it for the looks. Not that anyone asked, but I think I'm leaning for the Goodyear MTR Kevlars at 265/75 (about 31.9" tall). I may have to trim a little more fender/wheel well, but I'm OK with that. Besides, the people that I personally know that have them say they will never go back to BFG's after riding these.
  14. How long have you had your TJM? For some reason I thought they weren't manufacturing/selling those anymore. Or have you had it a while. And sorry about my replies - I'm not sure why emails come to me regarding some posts and not others...
  15. This showed up in my email as a question to me...hope that's who you wanted to respond. My rims are ProComp Xtreme (steel) 16x8 w/3.75" backspace. My tires are 265/70's - one size smaller than I should have purchased...but I needed to clear my struts at that time. Newer rims have helped with that. My rake is probably fine, but I like how rigs look when they are more level front to back. Probably just personal preference on looks...
  16. I'm also installing 1" leveling spacers next week (rather, when they arrive) so that should mild up the rake pretty well. I considered both the OME 1.75" and the AC 2" lift 2 years ago and almost by flip of the coin went with AC. I think the OME looks great. I've been considering installing coils spacers up front to get rid of the rake in mine also. Would you mind posting once installed? What brand did you go with? NX4 or Mr Gasket? There is a serious price difference in the two... Thanks!
