  1. Truely a beast! Now get the tires to match and get it all dirty!
  2. My homepage is yahoo for email and news, but NPORA not only is in my bookmarks drop down list, it's also on my bookmarks bar! Along with amazon.com and search books amazon, ebay, Maddox (aka the best page in the universe), and the USPS zip code lookup page (need that for selling books on amazon).

Poor Pathy! Makes the little ding I got in a parking garage last weekend (stupid concrete pillar! ) seem unnoticable. What was the verdict on who was at fault?
  4. Well I'd thought I'd update here as well, I'v been averaging 15 MPG for the past couple of months, I think this is because the air filter is getting more and more clogged (it's completely black in some areas ) I'v been turning it around to keep the orange parts close to the intake hole but that's really only a temp fix. I need to get that K&N filter, just waiting for Summit to get some in stock.
  5. I wouldn't mind getting another car, but not at the cost of the pathy. The pathy is just too cool! :cool2: And I would never get a chrysler anything yuuk. But if you like it well that's cool. If I were going to get a car I would be lookin for a... Nissan! Either a 240 SX with a SR20DET swap, or a 300ZX (like I could afford that) or any other Z car for that matter. If I couldn't get a Nissan for some reason (say they all just mysteriously dissapeared) I would go for a Mazda Miata or 93+ RX7 (mmmm twin turbo rotory -bounce- ) (again like I could afford that). I really miss the speed of a car (I'm probably better off going slow though... )
  6. Thats a neat lookin truck there. Kinda like an oversize hot wheels car. I haven't been stuck yet, but my mom managed to get our F150 stuck on our driveway. It was raining and there was nothing in the bed of the truck and we have helper springs on the back as we occasionally haul stuff with it so you can loose traction on our driveway even when it's dry out. Our driveway is quite steep and does about a 90 degree turn at the steepest part. So she got to the turn and the wheels started spinning. She didn't know what to do and tried flooring it which wound up allowing the truck to slide down the driveway and into the hill behind the turn. So I got my neighbor (this was before I had the pathy) with his early 90's model F150 (his does have four wheel drive) and pulled our truck up the hill. Nothin too serious but it validated my claim that we should have gotten a four wheel drive F150.
  7. Welcome to the boards! I wish I could afford a second house and car in Haiti :sniff: As far as going faster you can upgrade to Thorley headers and custom exhaust. You can also add a snorkel kit (for cold air of course) and a K&N filter. You could also upgrade the cams but you might run into mileage considerations there. As far as driving fast goes for the suspension there is an aftermarket sway bar and stiffer aftermarket shocks.

Thanks for clearing that up diesel! Hmm, I guess I was thinking of an auto locking diff. Oh BTW diesel could you resize your avatar, it's really tough on those of us with dial up

I'm not sure exactly how this LSD works but if it's like most other LSD what actually happens is the LSD disengages when going around turns, so spinning one tire while in the air the LSD works as there is no force to stop it from doing so. Turning forces the clutches to disengage, which causes a clicking sound in some LSDs. I'm not sure if this is how Nissan's LSD works though.

I found out the scary hard way that while spinning tires in the rain is fun it is also very dangerous. I was crossing a road and used rear spin to whip the end in line with the side road, I have done this many times and so wasn't too worried about it. However this time I put on the gas harder and longer than I had done before and so the rear continued to slide and slide and I was getting very close to a tree on the side of the road, so I corrected and then the rear started sliding and sliding now into the other lane! AAAAHHH OH CRAP OH CRAP! So I correct again with foot completely off the gas and finally the rear stops spinning and catches, with another minor little fishtail. The lesson to be learned here is don't be like SC88 and be carefull with your LSDs boys and girls!
  11. Welcome to another 2 door! Two door pathy's kick butt! While it is possible that your aftermarket starter kill is affecting the starter it could be that the starter is dead, we had to replace the starter in my 88 a couple of years ago (when it was still my sisters truck). Try whaking the starter with a hammer, this can dislodge some of the buildup that causes the starter to fail, it worked on my pathy. If that works you need to replace the starter right away, that fix is only good for one or two starts.

Derogate, there is another way actually what Jumper was posting about. Jack up your truck so the back wheels are off the ground, make sure it's in nuetral and your parking brake is disengaged, then spin one tire. If the other tire spins the same way BINGO you'v got a LSD, if the other tire spins the opposite direction or not at all you'v got an open diff. 88 posted this test in a similar thread a while back. (thanks 88! ) ~ Another simpler way to tell is put your rear tires in something slippery (ie gravel sand mud etc) then floor it. If there are two ruts behind your truck LSD, only one open.

OK here's a pic of what my LSD sticker looks like, for all you people who like visual examples.

    RUST RUST

I don't think you could drive the truck if the frame cracked in half. The frame is what absorbs all the stresses from driving, and even under little old lady driving the frame is still absorbing a lot of stress. I think that any break in the frame would cause the truck to start crumpling. I'm not completely certain that is the case but through my very basic understandings of physics it seems logical. If I'm wrong on this will someone let me know, and if I'm right let me know too.
  15. What they do with them is sell them as scrap metal to J/Y's. Also they take out anything valuable like the gas, and the precious metals in the cat.
  16. Metallica rules! At least old Metallica, they did get very sucky after Load, Garage Inc. Disc 2 was good but thats because disc 2 was all old stuff. Good lookin wheels, but they need to be black!
  17. I like my stock adjustable shocks, but if you're going to lift the truck it's best to get slightly longer aftermarket shocks. If you're not going to lift aftermarket shocks will make your ride slightly stiffer, but some people prefer a stiffer ride. Really it boils down to personal preference. BTW Welcome!
  18. Huh. I didn't know that. That doesn't come as a surprise as I don't know much in general. Hmm, Oregon is even closer than WA, and they even have redwood trees (at least in the southwestern corner of the state) so I'd feel right at home. Winters are supposed to be fiercer though. I'v never been to Oregon, I'll have to go sometime and see how I like it.
  19. Maybe this is just the first step in taking over Canada? Just Kidding Article says it hits Toyotas and Fords the most so us Nissan folk should be fine. Of course us folk who live far away from Washington should be fine too.
  20. darn! I wanna move to Washington! Not really I love the weather here in Cali. Also I see 4 Runners and low riders with tires sticking out for days all the time. Of course they usually angle their mudflaps outwards so that might be how they get away with it. ~You can't say D A M N?

    wth

Thieves maybe? Was it a shiny thing, people like shiny things.
  22. WOW! I wish my Pathfinder could be so freakin awesome. I really need to get on finding another pathy to go all out on, oh yeah and a better paying job
  23. Lookin good slick My 88 auto on 31's runs at around 2800 rpm at 70 mph.
  24. Welcome! Thats the exact same way I felt when I found this site too!
  25. I'm sorry. I'll check the next time I go but that probably won't be for a while, and cars rarely last longer than two weeks at Pick n Pull.
