  1. HUH? I click link and it sent me to a Home Depot opening article.
  2. Hmmm I guess it's time to go get a loan... Or increase my limit on my credit card. :contract:
  3. I work at a pizzaria and I sometimes run deliveries. Of course I usually only do one or none a night... Right now I'd be more worried about spending more on gas then you're getting paid. Compresion braking in a manual is fine and the amount of strain it puts on engine and drivetrain is accounted for when the truck is built. However compression braking in an auto is a whole other story.
  4. Acutally I think they were trying to get away from the music. First one came out to Coal Chamber and second and third came out to Devildriver (both being played waaay too loud, I love my new 6x9s!). Hmm maybe it has something to do with Dez Fafera's vocals...
  5. Yea if you don't kill them they come back... Of course you can throw them out the window by the side of the road and let someone else deal with it! And my vent is ALWAYS set to recirculate. I hardly ever need to use the heater and if I'm hot I just roll down the windows. I think they might have gotten in when I left the moon roof open over night (this has happened numerous times). Or they're finding some other way in... Checked the traps this morning and both are still set cheese hasn't been touched. No peanut butter here, but chedder cheese is effective too. BTW How do I get into the heater box?
  6. Bravo Steeevo for traveling where others fear to tread! You're taking the "Pathfinder" spirit to heart, so screw all the naysayers and find your own path! If you didn't already have another 4x4 pathy I would have suggested the SAS too, but if you'v already got the parts well than go for it! And as for the 4x4 light, you don't need no stinkin light! A lot of the 4x4 model peeps here have broken 4x4 lights, including me. Mine doesn't come on until I'v been in 4 hi for a good 50 feet.
  7. So yesterday I was driving and something catches my eye on the passanger side floor mat. I look over and see a little mousy looking at me! I stare at it, and it stares back at me and then proceeds to walk around as if I wasn't there! I can't do anything because I'm driving, all I can do is keep on glancing at it. Finally I get to a parking lot, so I pull in park the pathy and... the mouse is gone! ARRRG!!! Can't find it anywhere, so I go home and leave a mouse trap in the car. This morning I go out and sure enough there's a dead mouse in the trap. Yeah! No more mouse! Or so I thought. Coming home from school, something catches my eye this time by my foot. I look down and sure enough, another f@#$ing mouse! I try and catch it while at a stop light, but no dice mouse is too fast. 5 or so miles go by and there's a rustling in my passenger map pocket/trash can. I pull over and pull everything out but again no dice. Get to the gas station, pull up back seat and AH HA! Mousy! But he runs under the body panel!! So I pull body panel off, but mousy is gone. Get out start filing. Look back in, mousy looks back at me from behind next panel. I patiently wait and sure enough the ballsy f@#$er comes back out! Try and grab him again but he runs up front and under the dash. So I start driving home. Person in front of me suddenly puts on his turn signal 10 feet from where he's turning, so I slam on my breaks and my backpack goes flying and hits the dash. Start driving again, when mousy comes back out and starts climbing all over my backpack! I pull over at the next place I can. Grab at him once, miss. Wait. Mousy comes back out. I grab again, and success! Throw mousy out the window and floor it before he can hop back onto the car! -bounce- -bounce- HUZZAH!! NO MORE MOUSY!! Or so I thought. Get onto my road to my house, and once again something catches my eye and once again I'm looking at another F@#$ing MOUSE!!! GRRRARRRG!!! Pull over and try to grab the mouse. Nope miss and it hides. Get home park car, and mousy comes back out. Patiently wait until mousy is far away from a hiding place and grab mousy on the first try! Throw mousy out the window at my dog and tell the dog to get it! Dog snifs mousy and follows it around, right back under the pathy! STUPID DOG! Go inside, set school stuff down. Go out to car to get mouse trap so I can set it again. While getting mouse trap I hear something rustling in the leaves behind me. I turn around and there's mousy! Call the dogs, but of course the gate is closed. Go open gate take dogs over to car. They miss the mousy and it runs back under the car. I look under the car, bang on the suspension with a stick, but no mousey. Go over to the other side of the car, and there's mousy running into the forest! Point it out to the dog and she runs after it, then looses it under a pile of leaves. I see the mouse run out show that fact to dog and dog gets mousy (and a bunch of leaves)! GOOOD DOGGY! Mouse traps are set again. Sigh now I get to pull off all the body panels and open up the air ducting to find the mousy's nest. What fun.
  8. How rare is your car? Not as rare as mine! All I need is the light bar and hitch and I will have all of the options available for the 88 model year! Of course there weren't that many options to begin with... (stereo, 31x10.5's, LSD, Rear Disc Brakes, hitch, light bar, I think that's it)
  9. How would you see what else the bidder has purchased? Well here in California where the latino population is nearing 50% (in some places like watsonville latinos are now the majority) I'v noticed that they drive whatever they can afford, ford gmc hyundai honda nissan import domestic they'r just like anyone else. The majority of stupid modded vehicles I see actually belong to white folks (like boxy honda civic hatchbacks rollin on 18's ). Most of the time the latinos are driving better modded cars than the white guys around here. Well except for lifted trucks that's still staunchly white dudes (and a few white chicks).
  10. Yea we're confidant we can fab something up, it's just going to take time. The stock grills should cover the fronts, and they covered the rear. New thought on the amp situation, I was looking over my Crutchfield catalogue and Profile offers a 65x2 rms amp for $80. So I'm thinking I might buy that amp and run the 5.25's off it and run the 6x9's with the Alpine and keep the Clarion in case I ever decide to add a subwoofer to my set up. I'm just wondering if the stock amp and my battery will be able to handle two amps.
  11. Oh boy approx half of the stereo install is done! We got the head unit (a Kenwood KDC-2011S) and the 6x9's in yesterday. Both were very simple, but now the hard part, mounting the 5 1/4s in a 6.5 hole. That's going to take a bit of time so it'll have to wait until my friend and I both have an entire day free. I'm also pondering my amp situation. I got a 100x2 RMS Clarion amp (really sweet but I don't got anything for it to power the 5 1/4 components are only rated to 75 watts RMS and the 6x9s are only 50 RMS) and an Alpine 3523 amplifier, which based on my google searching is a 50x2 RMS amp. I'm thinking of selling both and buying a 50x4 RMS amp to power all the speakers. Or I could leave the 6x9's on the decks internal amp and amplify the components with the Alpine amp. Sigh, I'll have to see what my monetary situation is after next week when college starts and I buy all my books. Oh and a note to any other peeps installing 6x9s in a 2 door pathy, I didn't have to do any triming to get the Kenwood 6x9s to fit, so don't believe crutchfield or any other place when they tell you those 6x9's you want won't fit, they will!
  12. Yah the general consensous is that they are both great products with the calmini having a slight edge. However the superlifts are cheaper, and if you buy the Rough Country a arms (which are just rebranded superlifts) they are waaay cheaper. My advice is go with the rough countrys and save some money for gas.
  13. Hi everybody, come and look at the all new tire review thread in the Product Reviews section! Started by me to hopefully stop threads like this one from cluttering up the boards (it's not working so far...)
  14. Um wow, I'v never heard of an odometer doing that before. My suggestion is sell it, your resale value just shot through the roof (1995 Pathfinder with no miles on it)! Seriously though I would think that would be covered by the factory, odometers are NOT supposed to do that.
  15. Yea you should, I certainly do. I think they work in conjuction somehow. I don't really know how, I'm not that big of an audio/radio guy. All I know is that the diversity antenna is distracting to my eyes.
  16. Some pathfinder models use a diversity antenna. That would be a little orangish/brownish line going up the middle of your windshield (mines got one). I'm not sure if this affects what kind of metal antenna you can get. Also note there's a lot more to disconnecting the antenna than just unbolting the screw that holds it in. Here are instructions as to how to disconnect an antenna (from Crutchfield): 1. Remove reciever. 2. Open glovebox, push on sides allowing box to drop and remove a retaining pin on each hinge side. 3. Remove 6 screws and remove panel behind glovebox. 4. Remove back portion of inner fender cover by removing the phillips screws. 5. Remove one phillips screw from the top of the antenna. 6. Pull antenna lead out through fender. NOTE: If a diversity antenna is present, be sure to disconnect both connectors located inside vehicle at base of pillar. (see attached photo) NOTE: Save rubber grommet to put on new antenna lead. 7. Route new antenna lead through firewall. Make sure grommet seats properly. 8. Make antenna connection. Reinstall reciever by reversing removal steps. 9. Reinstall glovebox by reversing removal steps. 10. Resecure inner fender cover. Hope this helps!
  17. It's Cali so yea lots of SMOG checks passed no problem last time, but that was a year or two ago. No clue as to how old the O2 sensor is. I'm pretty sure the manifolds aren't leaking. There is a little ticking noise right on start up but it lasts less then a second and isn't very loud. I'll definatly try the injector cleaner sometime soon.
  18. When I was waiting at the mechanics for my egr to get cleaned (read my post in the garage if you're interested) this guy brought in a really old tr5 toyota truck to get smogged. It sounded like crap (and looked like crap too). Anyway they took it over to smog, but when the mechanic popped the hood he found that most of the vacum tubes had been disconnected and plugged! They shut the truck off called the guy up and basically said we're not touching this with a ten foot pole. As long as the egr and cats are working you shouldn't have any problem. Maybe run higher octane gas? Not sure if that would affect emisions but I think it would.
  19. My MPG for the past couple of fills has been around 14-15. This is down from the 16-17 I was getting a couple of months ago but I attribute that to the fact I'm no longer driving on the freeway. The mechanic said he did get a leaky injector code, but I didn't get it when I pulled codes, perhaps that's the source of the problem? When they first fixed the EGR they did replace a couple of valves but I'm pretty sure they used OEM. The mechanic also suggested an oil treatment to clean up carbon. And he showed me some of the carbon he pulled from one of the valves, and it was a good sized amount. If it changes anything the clog was on the intake side of the egr. Oh yeah and I'm running Castrol High Mileage 10w 40, and temperatures have been between 75-100F. The engine doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil (seriously the oil level has not changed not even a little!)
  20. So my check engine light came on last thursday night when I was coming home from work. So I pulled the code and it came back EGR function. I had paid quite a bit when I first got the car six months ago to get the EGR system fixed so I was kinda pissed about this. Anyway I took the pathy back to the mechanics yesterday and they took the egr apart and found it was clogged with carbon. Now they completely cleaned it last time as well as replaced a couple of parts so this struck me as weird. The mechanic said that high mileage engines can make a lot of carbon buildup, but in only six months? Is it just me or does this seem a little fast for that much carbon to build up? Any ideas on what could be causing this (besides the engine burning oil which it isn't)?
  21. No the wheeling sucks around here, Santa Cruz is filled with a bunch of tree hugging hippies so there's no places where you can legally wheel (well I can wheel on my parents property but my parents aren't too appreciative of four wheeling ). Seriously the county puts gates on fire trails, puts stakes in the ground and concrete blocks in front of old logging trails, they're just a bunch of spoil sports. However there are a couple of places beside the road I live on that turn into big ol mud pits during the winter. The nearest local spot to legally wheel that I'm aware of is Hollister Hills, and that's an hour drive.
  22. Yup, definatly on the west coast. SC stands for Santa Cruz! Moss Landing is approx. halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey, near Watsonville.
  23. Well from most often to least often it usually goes: Yahoo News Daily Show with Jon Stewart BBC (a local radio station broadcasts the UK feed) NBC (local TV news)
  24. The big 0! I was supposed to meet Slick, MWS, Precise, and Norcaljoe this summer but that fell to pieces. I'm still pissed about that. Hmmm... Any Nor Calers wanna make a trip to Hollister Hills?
