  1. So through the magic of CraigsList I will have a mostly matching set of eight 31" BFG MTs by the end of the week. The short story is that one was too cheap to pass on, but has more wear than the others. Three came off a salvage yard truck, and appear to be pretty close to new, tread and condition wise. Another set of 4 are coming my way, from a truck I'll inspect this week. In the first "set" of 4, as the 4th just isn't close enough in tread depth to the rest to put on the truck together. I'm being cheap, but attempting to not be too stupid. Feel free to flame here, it won't bother me. The question is what I should do with the 7 good tires I'll have. It makes sense to me to keep the best 5 on the truck, and sell off the one that doesn't match diameter-wise. But for the other two, is is worth it to keep them and rotate them in? If so I need two more wheels (Silverton, if I don't hear from you, I'll send you a message to see if you still have my old extras). If not, I'll have two extra tires in very good shape, should someone around here need them. I know there's no right answer here, but I'm curious if someone has a brilliant idea to make the most of the situation.
  2. I'm a maybe. The problem is a prior commitment that weekend, but I'm working on it. Finally picked up some mud tires, but don't have a CB or sliders yet. Will stick to easy trails, if I make it and if needed. Going: SilverPath-Camping Silverton-Camping (I plan to be out there Thur-Sun) Maybe: Kyle94(plus one other?)-camping enginerd - will camp if attending
  3. So how much good trail life are you guys getting out of your mud tires? I don't really want to buy new ones unless I have to, but am not sure if buying ones used off CL at 60% left is worthwhile either. This is an example of the kind of stuff I'm looking at: http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/pts/2269632692.html Thoughts?
  4. I'm a maybe. Still have to see if the tax refund will get me some new tires, and that's a tough weekend for me. I'll keep an eye on the thread.
  5. OK think I have this figured out, will post the rest to the picture thread.
  6. Great time, thanks everyone for waiting up for me to find you! I'll have a CB by next time (and looking for MT tires). I'll get some pics posted soon as I figure that out. NPORA decal goes on today!
  7. OK I'm in, I'm as ready as I'm going to get to break the seal. silverton, the side steps are off, but I'm leaving the fender flares on, unless you guys tell me it's stupid to keep them. I'll be on the easy stuff anyway... Attending: 5523pathfinder +1 Kyle94 +1 silverton SilverPath +1 copilot Mr.510 +1 Pathy (Mike from Evans with the light blue trail Pathy) MY1PATH + KINGMAN enginerd Maybe: Skulptr +2 (pending HIS return status!) 8. newbie here, i'm interested in breaking the seal. and i owe silverton beer...
  9. I had the same thing happen a few months ago in Seattle. When they found the truck, the seats were torn up, and I'm guessing that they were running drugs... and you happen to be right across the border. And the cops here found simliar items - lipstick, perfume and a bunch of coke bottles. Wonder if that's related somehow, and this is their vehicle of choice? Seems like a long shot though. If they even looked for the thief, I'm not aware of it. On the carpet, just rip em out. I just replaced all of the carpet with turf and am loving it. Feels like mine again. Good luck with your rehab!
  10. Sounds like we're headed east of the pass to avoid possible rain on Sunday. Thinking about the Fortune Creek Trail, near Cle Elum, and camping at Gallagher Head Lake. Just hope it's not too crowded. Thanks for the input... and wish we were free on 10/2 for the group run!
  11. We're aiming to go camping this weekend, and hope to be able to swim. I'd like to use this as a chance to get the newly-rehabbed truck onto an (easy) trail. Any ideas for a place to go, within a couple hours' drive of Seattle, where we could drive, on or off roads, to "near" a lake or lazy river, and camp? I just don't know the area well enough yet. So far, thinking about the Mountain Loop Highway outside of Darrington, and just parking off the road near the river. Would have loved to try Tahuya, but don't know where to camp over there... Ideas are appreciated, and all are welcome if you want to join and show me what I'm doing on the trails!
  12. I have the same problem. Did you have any luck?
  13. I love the effort. Thank you! No word from the police yet, which I'm taking as a bad sign. Trying to keep my hopes up just the same...
  14. I'm all for having the help of the community here, and appreciate the support. Hopefully it's found, still in OK shape, and I'll meet the group in person somewhere outside. In the meantime, I'm hesitant to put my personal phone number up for all to see, and as I travel a lot for work, it's really the only consistent way to get a hold of me. If anyone spots it, just call the police, they "should" be looking for it as well.
  15. Hopefully this works from here. Camping out where itnwas taken, as I couldn't sleep anyway. License is 377tjx. I suppose I have nothing to hide... If I get her back, trying to figure out the best theft deterrent possible. Insurance tells me that these are stolen so that someone can live in it for a few days. Feel-good story all around. Should you see it, post it, and i'll be there soon.
  16. I think I know the one on 1st ave S, but that wasn't mine. That one (just south of the W Seattle bridge) has a brush guard. I work just south of there, though, at 3rd and Dawson. I don't drive it every day, and park it in a garage in between. If all turns out well, I'll catch you a beverage sometime at Slim's. Sure hope it doesn't end up like the one mentioned above...
  17. I'm sorry that I don't have pictures to show. I did my best to describe in the first post, and am still kicking myself for not taking pictures along the way. The only real differences from the pic are that she used to sit real low in front, but after messing with the t-bars and an alignment, she's back to stock ride height, and the rusty old side bars have been replaced. It's an essentially stock '94 SE. White. There are a couple of stickers - CU (Univ. of Colorado) on the top of the back glass, a white "X" on the bottom left of the back glass. That one is from the previous owner and I'm not sure what it means. There is also a "superman" logo on the front license plate that I think we missed while removing other stickers. I live in Wallingforf, just north of dowtown Seattle, but unfortunately, it had an almost-full tank of gas in it, so it could be just about anywhere by now. Fingers crossed, it will be found in OK shape, and I'll catch up with you all on the next trail run. While I may be drunk/delirious, I have to remain optimistic. One way or another, I'll get there, and I appreciate the support.
  18. Insurance says there have been 4 taken in Seattle in the last 30 days. I had no idea these are in such demand and apparently easy to steal.
  19. Tonight the police called, they found it in a parking lot in Bellevue. The interior is torn apart, stereo missing, and a couple of personal items missing, but overall could be much worse. Still have to deal with the process, but so happy to have it back! The fuel pump relay has been pulled, and I'll search tomorrow for the best way to wire a switch to it to cut out the fuel pump for some added security. Stupid jerk thieves. Thanks to everyone who offered to help, and followed white Pathfinders over the last couple of weeks. Hope to meet and thank everyone in person sometime soon. Original post: Last night my '94 white Pathy was stolen from in front of my building. I've been waiting for the police for 2 hours now to come by so that I can sign the report. I'll keep my eye on all the usual classifieds, but don't expect much from that either... This especially sucks, as I just finished getting everything fixed up, and it was finally ready to hit a trail for the first time. And sad now that I realize that this is the only picture I have of it, from the week I picked it up: Any thoughts on what else I can do? If it's not recovered, will insurance replace it with any other Pathy, or do I get back what I put into this one (about three times the low purchase price)? As I don't have a better picture: It's white, SE, lego wheels, roof rack with bike rack and ski rack, no tint, rear tire carrier with a tire cover that's split as it doesn't fit the tire, CU sticker on back glass, and a decent amount of dings, bends, and scratches. This blows.
  20. OK, snow we waited for Monday to hit the mountain, and it paid off. It was bone dry Sunday afternoon, and then... And the Pathy did great. I was very impressed. Even though the battery is now dead!
  21. I'll post pictures after this weekend's Whistler trip, which will hopefully be much better that the only ones I have, which are from the craigs list ad. Since it should be snowing all weekend, there should be some good opportunities to test this thing out. Can't help you with the gratuitous men's locker room thing, really not my deal. And sorry, apparently I'm more than a little slow...
  22. I'm a mechanical engineer, and work for McKinstry (HVAC & Plumbing). The truck has 223k on it, so it needed some work to get back to right. Timing belt, all four CV joints, front hubs, and all fluids were changed at the end of last week. While I'm in deep already, it was worth it for the options I wanted, with MT, and as little rust on the frame as could be expected (there appears to be some surface rust over the rear wheels that will get attention soon). The info I found on this forum was great for my search. It's even helped with the shop already, as I was able to tell them exactly what I wanted them to focus on first. I just hope they'll be done today! Hmmm, gladiator movies? Why not?
  23. i'm new on the board, and should be able to pick up my first pathy from the shop tomorrow. it's stock, and i'm sure will still have some previous-owner issues to sort out, but i'd be interested in any "tame" trails where i can figure out what i'm doing, hopefully under guidance of those of you who already do!
  24. i'm a long time lurker and tuck of the month photo thief. just picked up a '94 pathy on wednesday night, and it's been in the shop getting some needed fixes now. should be able to pick up tomorrow, and start having some fun! northwest folks, hopefully you can show me what these things can do sometime... a little about the truck: 1994 SE 4x4 white ext, grey int all options, but with MT appears stock, though the auto hubs were trashed and will be replaced with manuals this truck will be a weekend toy and hopefully will be solid enough to make long ski trips with. never really been offroad, but intent to break the seal asap.
