  1. Attention all you rust-belt dwellers! I just located a vendor that makes pre-formed frame repair kits for the dreaded frame rust problems our Pathfinders suffer from. No more improvised, hacked-up frame welding jobs. Save your self the fabrication hassles if your going to do it yourself, or save money on labor at the auto body shop since it is a pre-formed piece that goes from the rear bumper mount all the way to in front of the trailing arm mount. The company is called : http://www.autorust.com OR http://www.safetcap.com http://www.autorust.com/store/ They do have an online store but it currently does not have the pathfinder parts listed online. There is a downloadable PDF catalog that does show photos of the parts in question. I called the supplier to verify that these are still being produced and they are. Yay! The part #s are as follows: Prices are as of December 2010 ART-044L (Left side repair kit) ($160 USD) ART-044R (Right side repair kit) ($160 USD) ART-044S (Set of both sides) ($310 USD) Contact them at: Auto Rust Technicians Safe-T-Cap Frame Repair 275 Niantic Ave. Cranston, RI 02907 USA Contact 401.944.4444 tel. 401.944.4203 fax 800.407.7024 toll-free sales@autorust.com www.safetcap.com

  3. I'd be most paranoid about how well each engine was maintained previously. If it were me I would remove things like valve/timing covers and the oil pan and just compare the two visually for oil sludge and whatnot. I've never done an engine swap though, just a disclaimer!

  4. I've owned four Pathfinders / QX4's and, not a single woman has ever said anything negative about them. In fact, I've only heard complaints from my other much more expensive vehicles. My wife, to this day, regrets we sold our QX4 and regularly mentions how she can't wait for my Pathfinder project truck to be done so we can drive it around instead of the Mercedes. Keep in mind though, I live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and up on the Canadian side. For 4 months of the year my Pathfinder is the only relevant vehicle in my fleet, and, at times it is the vehicle my friends ask me to come rescue them in.

  5. 95 is an electric speedo. You can try taking the cluster out and cleaning all the contacts and tightening the brass screws.

  6. Friend of mine says the 3.3 has a belt and he thinks the 3.5 has a chain, but he isn't 100% sure.

  7. As I figured it's just pressed in. Harder than a mother duck to get out but if your trying to replace yours keep walking the base in with a flat bar or flat screw driver till you dig enough to get under and start popping it up. Dont even waste your time trying to walk it like it did, even when the thing starts to come up it still wont budge. Just pry it up only. As a side note aftermarket headers makes the jobs FAR easier.
